One of the funniest moments my LOST group had was when Locke tied up Boone, brought out his goo, and said something like 'there are some things you need to let go of". Thinking back to Shannon’s “is he your new boyfriend” comment, one of the guys my group yelled out 'It’s astro glide!!" I’m sure that idea wan’t “lost” on the writers…
Just a quick note on the directions. The plane crashed on September 22nd, and according to Kate it was 3 weeks later, so it’s approximately Oct. 19th. This isn’t very far from the Autumnal equinox, so the sun should set pretty close to due west.
“Hey wait, these aren’t coconuts!”
Have they said anything else about where the body of Jack’s father is?
The question I had is why the talk on Michelagelo, then I got to thinking, how Locke tied up Boone is a lot like the sculptures of the slaves, Michelangelo sculpted, like the men were emerging from the marble. We had a moth emerging…and now this.
Quick question, since Jin was in this episode. Remember when Jin beat up Michael because he was wearing Sun’s father’s watch? Did they ever explain why her father’s watch was even on board the plane? Her father wasn’t on the plane, right?
What would guys think if the writers decided to film alternate endings (assuming there will be a planned ending)?
Could everything that’s happened be explained in more than one way?
They’re in Purgatory.
It’s all a dream (one castaway’s dream or all of them).
The island is a spaceship (inhabited or otherwise).
Supernatural forces are at work.
It’s a scientific experiment, private or governmental.
Can any of the speculations be absolutely tossed out with what we (well, not me, I don’t get half of what’s going on) know so far?
Nice catch! I’ve been looking at some of Michelangelo’s slave stautes, and I think you are right. Interesting imagery there.
Let’s not get too far into this whole “Sawyer killed Jack’s dad” notion. I’m pretty sure that when Jack picked up his dad from the coroner, the coroner told Jack that his dad died of a heart condition or summat like that.
Sawyer killing the dad also causes a few too many complications. How would Sawyer get on the plane? Would they release the corpse so quickly? Wouldn’t the police have questioned? Wouldn’t Jack have wanted to see the man that killed his father?
It’s far more likely that Sawyer was picked up on a drunk&disorderly involving Jack’s dad and had very little to do with his death. The rest of the connections involving the characters are more passing in nature: Boone seeing Sawyer in the police station, Sun seeing Jack talking with the woman at the ticket counter.
Anyone notice that it’s been a few weeks and none of the men are sporting beards and none of the women are sprouting unsightly underarm hair? At most we see the men with stubble, and the women are sporting around in tanktops without fear of embarrassing pit fur.
Unless someone’s found a razor in the luggage? And only the women are using it?
Sun probably whipped up an herbal depilatory.

Before anyone asks, no, I don’t know of any herbal depilatories. Appartly hyacinth root was once used for such a purpose, but it also causes burns and welts, which I don’t see Lady Shannon putting up with.
There’s always the desert method - scrape away the hair with handfuls of sand. (Ouch!)

By the way, there are reports that Driveshaft was played at Sydney’s party on Alias.
as Herc for AICN said, is the thing Boone and Locke found a Rambaldi device?
Maybe the whole island is som Rambaldi lab…
Brian
They also have whatever razors and such they scavenged from the bags and - if they are very careful - Locke’s briefcase o’ knives.
“Dang it, cut myself shaving. Could someone help me find my lower lip?”
Why do people think there was some kind of connection between Sawyer and Jack’s dad? Was there a mention of that on this episode or was that from a previous one?
There was some mention of a possible connection under a spoiler tag.
In one of the episodes (I forget which one) Locke is shown shaving with one of his knives. Apparently he either doesn’t do it too often or the knives don’t give a very close shave, though…
At the beginning of the last episode (“Whatever the Case May Be”), when Sawyer encounters Kate out in the woods, he asks:
“What the hell you doin’ all the way out here anyway?”
She replies:
“Everyone’s been eating a lot. This is the only place the trees aren’t picked clean.”
So, sounds like they are having to forage farther and farther away. Makes sense to replant closer to home. Although I don’t know how long it will take to grow what they are replanting.
Because Sawyer made a comment, as he was being dragged through the precinct house, about an argument in the bar with some guy over a bottle. Jack’s father was in Sydney, and is a major lush. They could have bumped into each other in a bar and got into an argument of a bottle. Anyway, I think it’s unlikely, but that’s the reasoning.
