I was flipping channels heading towards The Simpsons on FOX-W. I stop for a second on FOX-E and what do I see?
The final sign of the Apocalypse:
The First Annual Miss Dog Beauty Contest.
Please kill me now!

I heard about that and didn’t watch it. I was thinking the same thing…we must be BORED if we’re letting this kind of crappola get put on TV and even more lame if somebody’s actually out there WATCHING it.:smack:

Yeah, I couldn’t figure that out either. Why would anyone want to watch that?
However, I was thinking you might be refering to this quote from Chris Rock:
I hear those dog beauty queens can be real bitches!
: groooooooooooaaaaaan :
Schmuck reporting in.
I watched it while waiting for dinner to be ready and before our DVD showing of “Catch Me While You Can.” I’m such a pushover for sappy stuff and if I may say so myself, the ladies ahem were just delightful in their evening gowns.
And happily, the poor little pooch with a disability (Miss Suzy :D) was 3rd runner up. Brought a tear to my eye.
Way to go Miss Illinois though!! You rocked!
P.S. Some of the talent competion, like the doggy, Disco, that could basically line dance, was priceless. So in other words/barks, don’t beat it til you try it. [/shameless guilty pleasure]
I’m embarassed for you, hopefool. I stopped for a second and saw a dog popping balloons. Oh boy
That’s ok chula. I am a proud geeky sucker who falls at least once for anything with baby animals. It just is what it is.
However, I don’t own any of those “best of” videos from Animal Planet. I do have some dignity, you know.
Ok, I didn’t watch this but I was flipping through the channels and I jyst had to stop because there was a freaking dog walking a tightrope. A DOG WALKING A TIGHTROPE!!! The end must be near.
As far as I could tell, this was something like a more accessible Westminster for the masses. Instead of having snooty breeders looking at the dog’s teeth and making sure its toes pointed the right way, it was about the kinds of things regular people love about dogs – they’re cute, they can do cute tricks, they even accept it with good humor when their owners put them in silly clothes and parade them around.
It’s not highbrow, but it’s not the worst thing that’s ever been on TV, even on Fox. Fun for an hour, I’d think. (I didn’t watch, but I personally can’t stand watching dogs in clothes. I laugh so hard that I get sick.)
I seem to remember an episode of Max Headroom on which a ZikZak executive was complaining that Channel 23 was running a dog beauty contest during sweeps week…

Talking about the end of civilization - Did I just see Mary Kate and Ashley in a music video?
Actually, the world officially came to an end when this picture was taken.
Anything that’s happened since then can only be considered progress.
Oh my god. Isn’t there some rule about giving a warning before you link to such disturbing images?
It was just a longer prissier version of “Stupid Pet Tricks”. Now the olsen twins thing…Brrrrr…ugh…shudder
 Must…gouge…out…eyes…
is in the corner sobbing
Mommy! Make the bad picture go away.
Damn you, Miller!
ROTFLMAO
Alright…I clicked the link.
But I confess to be a Pauly Shore fan so I HAD to click the link, darn it.
If there are any photos around of the show he did back in '97 (I t hink) at Ft. Worth’s Casa Mana theatre…I’m the one in the middle of the right-hand section with the big hair and the sparkly lowcut dress and six-inch platform shoes.
I paid $20 bucks to go see him then and I’d gladly do it again.
All my favorite movies are Pauly Shore movies.

My eyes! My eyes! My beautiful eyes!
And if civilization really has come to an end, I’m glad. I never liked civilization that much anyway - highly overrated.
