Great news on the baby, Apes! Happy birthday, Acid Lamp!
On the spur of the moment, my son and I decided to drive to bead shop about a half hour north of us and take a wire-wrapped ring class. Doing something I suck at is kind of freeing. My son proved once again that he has mad skillz.
Sticks, I hope Dave’s son’s mom is OK. Did you ever hear anything?

Found out this morning that the horn in my car works. Good to know!

Mine gets a thorough testing pretty much every day. Today’s test subject was some yutz who decided to stop at a green light.
On Saturday, the test volunteer was an aging idiot who thought cutting diagonally through a grocery store parking lot was sensible. They very nearly hit my passenger side front wheel. After a brief moment to self-inventory that he did not actually hit me, I continued on my original path into the parking lot. Slowly. Very slowly and deliberately in order to more than consume any time that he might have “saved” for cutting through the lot.
BTW, I had one, repeat one, glass of Guinness on Saturday and it made me light headed. Thirty pounds lost weight, and no beer since New Years Eve will do that to you!
Yeah, it was a bit of a reach to get to Groupie. We’d have to keep linking back to this thread to explain it and we’ve got more than enough of that going around.
In the summer, when it’s especially hot & humid out, when I come home from a bike ride, sometimes I get in the shower & then turn the water on. Ya know how cold that first blast of water is? Ya know how good it feels! This time of year, not so much.
That hot shower I just took cost 4 figures between the new hot water heater & the new pressure relief valve. Stoopit, incompetent water company meter replacer.   The guy who came today said he shouldn’t have touched it; now to see how much I get back when I file a claim against 'em.
In other news, I took a razor sharp blade to my neck. What a bloody mess that made, literally.
Apparently shaving is not like riding a bike; ya don’t just remember how to do it right. :smack:
I’m not going to type out the whole recipe because the deviled part sounds yukky.
Anyway hard boil and peel your eggs like normal.
Cut in half and set the yolks aside.
Fill wide glasses or coffee mugs 2/3 with water, add three drops of food coloring and 1/4 tsp vinegar.
Put the egg whites in and allow them to sit until they are the desired color.
Take them out and let them drain on paper towels.
Then make your usual filling and stuff.
Their filling called for just mayo or a 50/50 mayo/miracle whip.
My filling is mayo, yellow mustard, vinegar, salt and pepper.
About 1 tsp of mustard to 3 Tbls of Mayo, salt and pepper and mix to the right consistency adding little bits of mayo or mustard as needed to taste and to get the right consistency,
Then I add a little apple cider vinegar for a bit of a bite.
My deviled eggs always had dill relish in them and a sprinkle of paprika on top, but other than that basically the same as yours minus the apple cider vinegar.
oh what I wouldn’t give for stuff to be blooming here despite the hell it plays on my allergies, it is nothing but grey *grey * grey and grey here and Im sick of it!
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 58 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 74 and maybe some more rain this mornin’. It stormed last night! It woke me up but I went right back to sleep. Biiiiiiig thunder and lightnin’ though.
I use dill relish in my deviled aigs too Apes. Also just a little bit of honey.
Ok, now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then, alas, irk purtification must commence.
No deviled eggs for me. I just sent him a message this morning because he hadn’t posted anything and the Kid’s mom is ok ‘but it’s a long story’ according to him. So, I don’t know what the long story is, but I’m glad that she’s ok. I actually have met her at Dave’s memorial and she was very nice to me despite that it could have been an awkward situation.
Lately I wonder if there’s a point in even going to bed as I’ve been sleeping so terribly. I went to bed early to make up for not sleeping last night and I was pretty much awake and tossing and turning from 2:00 on. I finally gave up and got up at 5:30.
**sari **- I found that same recipe when I searched yesterday evening - not on facebook, since I don’t use that, but still. In fact, the one I saw posted recommended using the neon food coloring, which I’ll probably do.
My deviled eggs have mayo, mustard, vinegar, pickle relish, and onion salt. When I take them to Mom’s, I’ll have the whites (pastels?? ) in one container and the filling in a plastic bag. I’ll cut off the corner of the plastic bag and squoosh out the filling into the egg halves after I get there. Not near as messy as trying to carry a tray of prepared eggs on a 2+ hour car trip.
Weird dream last night in which my spousal unit was visiting with GingerOfTheNorth, when he morphed into actor Benedict Cumberbatch (in his dark-haired incarnation.) For those who have never met him, **FCD **is about 5’10", bearded, graying, and teddy-bear-like. The only similarity between him and the actor is that they’re both human males. Anyway, the rest of the dream involved a lot of driving, a port-a-potty, and Ginger was hugely pregnant. Truly one of the odder dreams I’ve had of late.
Nothing exciting on tap today - just more drawings to get done. We may see the sun, so that would be nice.
Morning all. I am having an enforced day off because HR have got their collective knickers in a twist about me working on campus. There’s a clause in my severance agreement that mentions being “employed by the university in any capacity” will result in me having to repay the money they paid me to leave in the first place.
Due to recent changes and stuff going on at the uni, my line manager has been talking to HR and they have suddenly decided that I shouldn’t be working there at all…despite the fact that I am not employed by the university at all, I’m employed by an outside agency. I even have an email from the head of HR confirming that I can work as a temp if I want to. Anyway, I’ll give them today to sort themselves out and then I’m off to look for another assignment and sign up with a couple more agencies. Barstiges!
So today I am mostly drinking tea and trying not to scarf the two large bars of Green & Black’s chocolate that are hiding in a bag under my desk up here. Perhaps I should go and do something productive instead, before I give in. After all, I have to get on those scales at Fat Club tonight and excess chocolate weight will not help.
