Home. Dinner was meh. The salad was good, but the calamari was flavorless and my parmesan tilapia was equally bland. It was served with angel hair pasta that had no sauce. All in all, very meh. But I didn’t have to cook or do dishes, so there’s that.
I had to close up the house up and turn on the a/c - it got near 90 here today! Weird weather. Later this week, we’ll get closer to normal, which is lower 60s. And maybe some rain. Which my plants will like. Speaking of which - both the transplanted azaleas are full of buds that are about to open!
I’ve got a load of jeans in the washer. That may be all I accomplish today. Wanna make something of it??
(I replaced the link with a guest pass link so that everyone can see which ones you’re talking about.)
Those are hellebores, taxi, AKA Lenten roses. They bloom as early as February and bloom for a REALLY long time (although they cheat because the part that looks like a petal is actually a sepal (the part that’s usually green that holds the flower). Their foliage is nearly evergreen (it lasts through winter and then is replaced with the foliage from the next year’s growth). Wikipedia has a good article as well. Looks like they’re hardy to zone 4a.
Hope things start looking up very soon, Soapy!
That’s awful about your work, Taters. I would be incredibly frustrated, too. Hope something good comes up soon so that you can get to a better place!
Glad you worked things out with your brother, Nava. Sounds like a mentally healthier option.
Glad your neighbors were looking out for you, FCM.
How was the first day, Puggy?
Last night’s storm doesn’t seem to have affected too many trees. It still looks awfully nice out.
Work was…well…irk is a good term, isn’t it? Nothing horrible, just little annoyances.
Now I’m home, considering what to do with my evening. Had some leftover chicken and made some smashed potatoes to go with that. Yum. My chives are to the point where I can use them, which is wonderful. Someone remind me to keep some growing next winter. Fresh chives are wonderful. Did anyone hear this window farmingstory on Sunday? Seems like a really good idea. I’ve got a couple of windows where that would work. Might not fill the window, but it would be nice to have something growing well in the winter.
OK…guess I’ll knit for a while and then contemplate what I need to do this week…
Wow, we’re really quiet tonight. Just came across this story from the Washington Post. It has to do with how letters to the President are handled. Fascinating. Really nicely written, too.
I am delighted to know that you see things my way.
I did hear that story on window gardens–it sounds great.
I ironed for 2 hours(!) and now have 4 pairs of slacks and about 10 blouses (I didn’t know I have 4 white blouses now–I think I have enough of those…) crisp and ready for work. And in about 2 weeks, I’ll do another ironing marathon and whine the whole time again. And a pattern is now established…
I have completely forgotten what others here have posted about. Sorry about that, but a good evening to you all.
Anyway, made beef and chicken enchiladas tonight to use up meat and tortillas I had, plus spanish rice and refried beans. It was nommy and I have leftovers. =^_^=
Did you know you can do a lot of your grocery shopping at the 99cent store? I got three different kind of teas (kinds I can’t find at the grocery store! why can I not get plain no-fruit-added tea?), strawberries, some canned goods, and some sweets.
Irish Boyfriend came in drunk last night and gave me three big hickeys on my neck. :dubious: I’ve covered them with makeup but they’re still visible and it’s too hot in the office to keep wearing a scarf. Bastard.
So, you’re insinuating that the poor man dying in Ireland is not his father…? :dubious:
(Yeah, I know, one shouldn’t laugh at some things. Doesn’t work in my world. I laugh at Holocaust jokes, too  )
If I’m ever in your neck of the woods I reserve the right to slap the whole family around and bite them on the legs good. Let’s see them explain to the Local PD “Well ------ there was this Amish guy, see? And BOY was he ever pissed off about something!” As we say around church, the Seven Deadly Words. We’ve never done it that way before. I’m so sick of that excuse for being stupid I almost want to puke.
One odd thing though - after not hearing about a bad result from neutering, this is the fifth one I’ve heard about this week. It’s making me go hmmmmm.
