Home. Tired, couldn’t sleep last night in the guest room at mum’s place so today I am really sleepy. Just got back anyway, unpacked, going for a snooze now!

sings while skipping about I’m going home tomoooooorrow, I’m going home tomooooooorrow…
Yes, I realize that in a few weeks I’ll be up to HERE (points at the approximate height of the head of one of the Gasol brothers standing on top of the other one’s shoulders) of family, but I think family time is one of those things, like childbirth: you do it again because you remember that the last time hurt, but only vaguely. I’m lighting candles to the patron saint of agents, whomever it is, asking hir to illuminate mine…
Seriously, things here are just going into the surreal. Today I got up at 3am, went to the bathroom, there was someone having a shower. Before I’d gone back to sleep, the extractor in the bathtub room got switched on, and yes, someone (one of the Nigerians, judging by his singing… yes, the freak apparenty thought he was the Little Mermaid pre-legs) took a bath. And left the hot water faucet open, too, I’ll never understand how come I can close it all the way but these strong fellers apparently can’t get beyond the place where it sticks a bit.
I’m reasonably sure they know what a faucet is: they do open them, after all!
I didn’t go into work today. Mostly because I could NOT sleep (up about 6 times) so I took a mental health day. My stomach isn’t feeling so well, either, so it’s just as well.
It’s pouring here today–a good day to be at work. <sigh> I can never plan my hooky very well. I need to go get my passport pics taken (I have to reapply). And I should take a load over to the Salvation Army, but who wants to do that in the rain?
Nava–I feel the same way about my family. I start missing them and then I spend about an hour with them and become significantly more homicidal than usual. We just don’t speak each other’s language. My sister used to act as translator.
Kinda gloomy here. Feeling guilty I didn’t go in. It’s my library job, so there’ll be a mountain of work waiting for me on Friday. But I did manage to sleep from 6-11, so I feel human.
Is school over yet?
Howdy folks! My world is still a bit topsy turvy although at least Ben is home, yay! He’s doing better; it is just his speech that seems to be affected. He’s got an appt. for follow-up a week from today, and we’re trying to see if we can get him on medicaid (or whichever is the non-senior one, cause he’s not 65 yet). So keep the good thoughts coming; I suspect we may need them in order to get him whatever kind of insurance we can. Also, please if anyone knows or has any tips for applying for medicaid, PM me here @SDMB. Thanks so much in advance, if you can help. He does not have any income, though, or money, other than unemployment. And that is going to run out soon, unfortunately. Thanks again for the thoughts and prayers, you folks are so great!
And let me send out thoughts and prayers to anyone who needs them, from me and mine. We’re holding up and doing the best we can. I did just make an appt. for a bone density scan for May 28th - hopefully I will have 8 hours of credit time by then, and I’m going to use it on that Friday and get a 4 day weekend (linked w/Memorial day the following Monday) Woo hoo!
It is for me.
Howdy Y’all! Two down and three to go! Irk was it’s usual namesake.
Yay for goin’ home Nava. It’s a good thing to do and may the Patron Saint of Agents illumine you soon.
Death chicken is bakin’ away. It shall be served with nuked veggie leftovers. I figured death and nukin’ go together.
Gotta go check on Death!
Later Y’all!
has been for years.
That’s how I get when I’m stressed too. {{Hugs}}
Thanks for identifying the flower, gt. I’ve heard of them but didn’t know what they were. My chives from last year were the first thing to pop up in my “garden” and they’re ready to eat any time. I didn’t realize just how hardy those things are!
I came up with what I think would be a kid-pleasing healthy homemade mac & cheese last night. The cheese sauce looked just like Kraft’s. It was just slightly sweet and had a really good flavor. The secret ingredient?
Frozen winter squash.
It made the sauce the unnatural-looking color of Kraft’s while being nice and smooth in texture.
I’m a genius. Now I just need a way to market my brilliant idea and make a ton of money from all those people who want to get their kids to eat healthy stuff but whose kids want the box-mix stuff.
Home, and pooped. My car has been serviced for a mere $56. Like my mechanic says: “It’s a Toyota - they don’t break down much.” It’s been a good car for these first 65K miles. And when we picked it up, we dropped of FCD’s Crossfire. That’ll cost more than $56, I’m sure. In fact Ronnie, who HATES the Crossfire, just snickered when we gave him the keys. I love our mechanics - they’re great!
I took tomorrow off - nothing’s going on at work, so I’ll have time to do some pre-surgical running around. Trying not to think about Friday… I should be fine by late Friday afternoon.
It’s been another hot day, so the house is closed and the air is on. Thankfully, it’ll start cooling down again tomorrow and getting close to normal again.
That’s all for now. I need to unwind.
taxi what kid wouldn’t just eat up “mac & squash”!
OYKW walked in the door and said, “Do I smell death?” See, if I could get him interested in messin’ around on teh intertoobs he’d be a natural Mumper. Then again, y’all might end up knowin’ waaaaaaaaaaaay more than I’d like, so maybe it’s a good thing. I more than make up for his lack of interest in things internetty.
<modestly, but smugly, bows her head> Gosh, I am overwhelmed by this. To think that lil’ ol’ me–my legacy–lives on as the smell of death in Georgia. Well, truly it is the ultimate in ambition and fame. I thank you. <bows>
I called in for tomorrow as well. I need to come to a decision re this nurse thing. I will work there until June, methinks, then quit. What say you?
And it poured like a mother here today. 1.5 inches. I got out the rain barrel in between deluges. And I got my passport pics taken. Snow White lives–hell, thrives. I take one ugly passport picture. A mug shot would be more flattering.
rigs truly, whenever I smell death it’s you I think of first.
puggy I forgot to say, yay on the first day of new irk goin’ good. Of course they wanted you back. You probably acted like you’d, you know, do stuff bein’ as you are the new kid and all.
Speakin’ of irk, this one of my all time favorite work sayin’s:
“You don’t have to be crazy to work here. They’ll train you.”
You say the NICEST things, Swampy! <blushes>
Irked, came home.
swampy, OYKW should be a Doper. I love it when Doper couples argue in a thread.
Nava, I’ll get on my knees and ask for the intercession of the Patron Saint of Agents(it works in hockey).
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN It’s my hump day.
I think today is yet another couple of hours worth of trainin’. WOO and HOO. Maybe it’ll be fun like one day last week when we were presented with this “model” of how stuff should be done that was full of errors that we helpfully pointed out to the trainer. She got a kick out of it cause she knew it was stoopid to begin with but this is what TPTB think is right. Hey it entertained us!
I made rigs blush. Dang I’m good!
Ok, rumbly tummy is gettin’ impatient to be fed. Off to forage, seek more caffiene and purtify for irk.
Happy Thursday Y’all!
Awake, critters tended to, house open, since it’s gloriously cool out. Yay! **FCD **and I have some stuff to tend to, but mostly, we’ll be getting all ready for tomorrow. I need to get a tote bag full of yarn scraps, so I can knit or crochet tomorrow to keep myself from going crazy. Is there anything more stressful than sitting in a hospital waiting room?
I can’t believe how fast the trees here went from nekkid, to buds, to leaves. OK, most of the leaves are still small, but by next week, we should be fully green. Spring is just amazing! And to think - we get to rake up all those leaves come fall!! Yeah, keep a happy thought.
I need caffeine…
School? It’s been over for ages now.
Nancy sounds…not right, rigs. (Been meaning to say that for days now…)
All this talk of death is disturbing. Made me chuckle. A lot.
Hmmm…interesting Mac & Cheese concept, taxi. Maybe Mrs. Seinfeld will publish a second cookbook and include your recipe…?
Work was frustrating yesterday, only because I wound up doing a bunch of things that hadn’t been on my radar to begin with. Hopefully, today I’ll get to finish some of yesterday’s stuff…
Up and at 'em!
GT
I am up, critters have been fed, I’m dressed and presentable. Anything else I need to do? No, absolutely nothing. I have decided that today shall be a day of sloth. I did make a couple of phone calls this morning, Shadow is off to the vet tomorrow for his vaccination boosters and I am off to the optician for an eye test on Saturday. That is all I have achieved. Now I’m off to lay on the sofa with a book.
Blurf. :grumble: :brrrrraaaap:
Moooooom, my apple trees went from bare to blooming in 2 week.
Other than that, I got nuthin.
