Westworld S3 (show spoilers as it airs)

I frankly was quite a bit disappointed in the “reveal” … the personality within Charlotte just is not Dolores. Dolores tearing at her skin, desperate to have someone else (call it her older identical sister) connect with her, direct her, and nearly falling apart not being able to connect and be told what to do and how to do it? No. No Dolores would be deferential to and dependent on a different version of her self. She would work cooperatively as sisters with a shared goal but not with one as boss - unless she modified them to make them more subservient versions of herself in order to serve her needs. Which would be her explicitly committing the crime that she feels humans are guilty of, with the hosts and with other humans.

Bear in mind that Dolores (Charlotte) had absorbed all of Charlotte’s memories, and was going insane under the pressure of competing personalities. She was dependent on a different version of herself because she needed emotional and psychological support. Having a human stuck in your brain - especially an intense, unpleasant human like Charlotte - can’t be easy, and she needed someone she trusted to tell her everything was going to be all right.

I certainly enjoyed the last episode, but I do have one question:

Was Paris an isolated nuclear attack, like terrorism, or has a (limited, obviously) World War III actually happened, and the hosts like Maeve just don’t know it? Singapore, London and California seem OK.

She had?

I did not understand that to be the case. She did not seem to know who her ex- husband was and seemed surprised about their child and the nature of the relationship. The fact that Charlotte actually loved her kid in particular was an apparent shocker. Seemed like she not only didn’t have the memories but didn’t even do decent prep work on life other than corporate. Also not very Doloresy.

I’m still digging it, although it’s quite different from the two earlier seasons.

Serac certainly revealed himself to be less than heroic when he tortured and killed the identity broker.

Best line - Maeve, after helping all the Yakuza kill each other: “I suppose I’ll show myself in, then.”

Great to have Ed Harris back. Remind me what happened to William’s hand or fingers before?

I’m sure we’ll see another Maeve before too long. Musashi didn’t have time to dig out her brain “pearl.” The pierced barrel seemed to be filled with host-molding fluid, so yes, I think a host army is a reasonable theory.

She gave him a little needle-prick in the neck, drawing blood. Don’t know for sure yet what it did to him.

Dolores would hardly be the first hypocritical fanatic.

Unclear as yet.

Yes, I know, I was inviting speculation.

Well I can’t wait to hear what you guys thought about Genre.

I identified the genres “Film noir”, “romance”, and “action thriller”. Got kinda fuzzy after that.

So who has those limbic implants? We know the military get them, and the rich and powerful (for their digital drugs and whatever), but Giggles, too, seemed to be well familiar with Genre. Maybe he went to a cyberpunk body shop to get his implant, not being the type to miss out on any form of good drugs.

If Serac wanted more rigid control over people, it would make sense to implant everybody, but I do not think they said this was the case. Maybe he has it planned.

Still no clue what Dolores’s plan is other than bring the system crashing down.

She wants to break the wheel. And we know what happened to Daenerys in the end.

Was that Enrico Colantoni Caleb had tied to a chair in his flashback?

Incite’s website advertises them so it looks like it’s for sale to the general public. You can sample a few flavors here: HBO: Home to Groundbreaking Series, Movies, Comedies & Documentaries

Nice little geekdetail: Serac was using an Azerty keyboard on the plane, as is customary in France & Belgium. it’s not something you can get off the shelf in the US, but being as rich as he is, that should not be a problem. Or it could be futuristic dynamic keyboard you can change as you please.

Nice

and

As long as we are picking through the episode, why were Dolores and Serac talking on the holo-phone at the end? Did she call him? What for? She had already read his Rehoboam profile, so what extra information did she need?

The bigger plot hole is that if you could defeat future biometrics by just injecting yourself with a bit of the blood of someone else, it would never have been used for secure authentication. Crazy easy to circumvent.

Another episode and another bore fest… car chase that just dragged on forever with no purpose whatsoever.
Dolores and her sidekick currently have the immunity plot skill on. Not even at the end of the car chase the borrowed stormtroopers coming up of the SUV could put a dent into them.

Then afterwards the two guys that get out of the car and shoot Dolores point blank… what is she made of now? Kevlar? In westworld she would die with a couple shots. Now, meh, its just a pinch, lets keep going.

Then just because people see watch something on their phones its enough to create instant anarchy on the streets and people start shooting each other and rob the place… meh

And lets not talk about the Bernard side story…
This just is just taking us the viewers for idiots

Am I supposed to take this show seriously? Really?

And automated Uber-like cars are bulletproof?:dubious:
