Two wagonloads of firewood have been stacked in the garage. I may get some more before the day is out. It’s not in the way in the garage, it won’t get wet, and it’s convenient when we’ve got a fire going, so the more I can stack inside, the better for me.
There was no lunch fairy, so I made a couple of sammiches. I’m thinking veggie-beef soup for supper - I should probably get it started shortly.
Finally convinced Sweetie that one of the benefits of living on a wooded lot is that we can throw downed limbs into the woods. After the friggen yard waste pickup rejected our stuff last week because some limbs were bigger than 4" in diameter (they rejected the properly bundled and sized brush because of individual branches that weren’t bundled), he brought the rejected stuff to the drop off site himself (in the Hyundai Accent) and did battle with the rest of the population of Southbridge for a spot in the drop off dumpsters. Seriously, after a tornado, a hurricane, and a very early snow storm, you’d think they’d be a bit less douchey about the whole thing. This week is our last week of fall yard waste pickup and when I showed sweetie just how small 4’ and 4" are, he agreed with me that we can just throw the shit down the hill.
His problem is that eventually we may want to clear the hill. My point is that by the time we can afford to clear the hill, the stuff we throw down today will be decomposed, never mind the fact that it’s a wooded freakin’ hill and it’s covered with downed trees and leaves and branches.
So he’s out there throwing branches down the hill and I’m about to shower since I just realized that I haven’t done so since Friday night. How’d I manage to do that?!
I have successfully eaten plain chicken breast, dry toast, peanut butter crackers, and one handful of grapes. I’m only mildly queasy now but every time I think about exciting food (like ice cream), my stomach flops in a most unpleasant way.
Hope all the heart stuff gets diagnosed, treated and cleared up really quickly, Bumba.
I’ve been knitting (scarf for my mom), and cleaning out some files, and getting iPod, iPhone, iPad etc. set up. Found a couple of apps for the iPad that are really handy for designing and keeping track of knitting. Yay!
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, we really take a dim view of blood and guts around here.
Now watching German melodrama and sorting receipts.
Hope everyone’s having a reasonably lovely Sunday and that all the sickies are getting better.
I just unloaded the dryer and not only did one of my socks disappear, but one of those obnoxious dryer sheets showed up.
We don’t use dryer sheets!
So now our resident black hole is not only hiding things of ours, but bringing in things from other houses!
I brought a third load of firewood in - we’re well stocked for a while, so yay! Then we went to not-so-bad Chinese for supper. **FCD **is happy - Dallas won. He’s also in a lot of pain, so he’s crashed in bed to watch TV and go to bed early. I’m about to assume the knit position on the couch and watch another episode of Borgia on Netflix. Dirty politics ain’t a new invention by any means, nor is it limited to secular organizations…
Someone posted a bunch of hokey snowman jokes on the community bulletin board at my nearby Panera. Most of them were terrible, but there was one that got a giggle out of me:
Q: Why did the snowman go to the middle of the lake?
Hubby has a friend visiting for one night, since he usually cooks a feast on Sunday anyway, when he went to the store I had no idea what the menu would be. He came back with turnip greens and roots, granny smith apples to bake, a turkey breast which he thought was a hen:D, green beans, potato salad…and it was good. Leftovers abound.
Oooh! I saw those turkey breasts in the store and was almost fooled. I thought they’d finally come to their senses and bred miniature turkeys. Okay, I just thought they were really young turkeys, which is nearly as silly an idea.
Tomorrow is duck day. I will bravely face that duck and this time it will turn out delicious! No arguments duck-- you WILL be crispy and golden and juicy! Hmph!
Where do you think there would be milk crate sized boxes? I need about six more for packing books and everybody crushes and bales them. Even liquor stores!
Off to dye my hair. Just a dark blonde/brown color. I had to resist reaching for the bright burgundy colors because that would be a tragic look with my pale pink skin.
