The Kiddo and I are on our own this weekend, with **Rhiannon8404 **having gone to visit her sister in Boston. So yesterday, a friend helped me move 4 cu yds of rock into our dog run, and replace the ceiling fan in the family room. With those tasks accomplished, I’ve now got until 9:00 Monday night (when we pick her up at the airport) to do pretty much absolutely nothing more.
Except that I have to pack for myself and the Kiddo, as we leave for a trip to Disneyland on Tuesday…
Watched John Le Carre’s ‘Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy’ (BBC TV series starring Alec Guiness) all the way through (now I understand the plot ).
Played some computer games (Civ4, Heroes3).
Read the paper and finished the Suduko and the Kakoro.
Wrote some more of my roleplaying dungeon ready to DM next weekend.
Typed some pithy comments on the SDMB.
The only work was going into School on Saturday … to run the roleplaying club!
Sat-
Dropping someone off at the airport.
Went out and took some pictures.
Hung around the house.
Sun:
Worked my PT job.
Applied for a 2nd PT job (this making it 3 jobs total. woohoo)
Cashed in the cans and bottles.
Now I am relaxing with the CD player playing behind me.
Our weekend consisted of a trip to Northern Louisiana for Gleann Abhann’s sixth Crown List. Pretty weather, nice fluttery breezes for all the pennants, pretty men in armor and such. The navy linen and red paisley silk I spoke of in this thread made it’s debut after many long hours with a needle in my hand, and my Saturday evening was spent sitting around a campfire, sipping wine, eating steaks cooked out over the fire, and listening to tipsy men sing bawdy songs and tell “no sh*t, there we were” stories.
Good, relaxing fun.
I need to go to work tomorrow so I can rest a bit–I don’t mean in the usual slacking off sense but in the “very nice to sit on my butt and use my brains for a change” sense.
I never did get a drink last night. I will rectify that tonight.
I spent the morning preparing must for mead, and the afternoon waiting for it to cool enough to pitch the yeast. If I did things right, I should see the effects of fermentation in a day or two. Would anybody like a drink?
Well as posted earlier I did all that, and some more.
The old codgers and moi decided to inject a little excitement into our mundane live and figured a visit to a recently refurbished and tarted up boozer might be a good idea.
So orf we jolly well went to the Slug and Lettuce, run jointly by mine hosts “Plastic Pete and Vinyl Vera”
One member of our merry gang doesn’t drink so he usually sups coffee at 65p a cup in our regular watering hole.
Not so at the Slug, £2.50 for a cup of coffee. Fuck that for a game of soldiers, we are off somewhat sharpish without ordering anything.
My doing nothing was largely contained to the mornings. I hope it did y’all good. Sunday afternoon/evening was housework, and Saturday afternoon was shopping (for fun, mostly–not chore-type shopping.)
