What Beer do you enjoy the most?

Actually, the real Budweiser, from the small town of Budvar (the German name is Budweis) is even better than Pilsner Urquell IMHO.

But my all-time favorite has to be a dark Lager brewed in “U svateho Tomase” in Prague. Mmmmmmmm…

Coopers Original Pale Ale by god, or ill have the lot of you hanged:)

Can’t get it here, but in Fort Collins (Colorado), Fat Tire was my beer of choice. Out here there is an apalling lack of microbreweries, but Killians is on draft just about everywhere; I’ve been settling for it.

I went on a trip to the UK + Ireland and on the ferry to Ireland they had a McEwan’s brand beer. It was fan-fugu-tastic! I don’t know what it was called other than McEwan’s. I can’t find it in America (it’s not Stout or Export) and I’m really disappointed.

Other than that I mostly like wheat or weiss beers. Or room temperature drinkable ales.

Tanglefoot (Badger)
Gale’s HSB
49er (Ringwood)
London Pride

I’ve converted an Irishman from Guinness with that lot. and forced a German to admit that English beer ain’t so bad.

I tried something called Chiswick Ale or something like that after last year’s LonDope. Jolly nice, and well worth going back for.

Wow - what beer don’t I enjoy? Here’s what I enjoy in no particular order (that I can remember off the top of my head)

Budweiser
Schlitz
Miller High Life
Lone Star
Point
Czechvar
Pilsner Urquell
Harp
Sapporo
Michelob
Becks
St. Pauli girl
Fosters
Labatt’s Blue
Molsen Golden
Grolsch
Warsteiner
Negro Modelo
Dos Equis
Sprecher
Mickey’s
Red Stripe
Pabst Blue Ribbon
Moosehead
Delerium Tremens
Old Style (back when it was fully krausened)
Lacrosse Lager
Carlsberg
Tennent
Bitburger

Oh yeah, and when I was very young my dad brought home a six pack of Nude Beer. The label had a woman in a bikini which would scratch off (the bikini). Although I never tasted it, I loved that beer.

Whichever one is in my hand!

:wally

To be fair, Australians don’t actually drink Fosters. It’s almost entirely brewed for an export market which has shown they don’t know better.

CUB’s frontline beers for domestic consumption are Victoria Bitter and Carlton Cold - neither are ones I’d personally drink instead of, say, arsenic, but both have a modicum of flavour to them.

Oh, and somehow I left Sheaf Stout off the list of great stouts. I have no idea why I did that.

I generally buy either Sam Adams, Leinenkugel, or Goose Island - whichever is on sale by the 12 when I’m in the store. Usually a 12 goes for around $8.99.

Often get their seasonal brews. Otherwise, depends on my taste that day. Last week I bought some of the Leinie doppelbock - named “Big Butt”! Great beer and a great name.

Of course, my wife quickly got tired of the hilarious comments…

Aside - for x-mas, my BIL gave me a 3-stooges bottle opener. When you open a cap, Moe says, “How bout a beer?”
Curly responds, “Coitainly!”
Then, “glug, glug, glug” pouring sounds followed by Curly’s “Nyuk, nyuk, nyuk,” “woo-woo-woo-woo!”

Two months later, it still cracks me up everytime I use it!

I’m a big fan of Harp, followed closely by Bass, but only on tap. The bottled versions seem to lack that certain something.

When I’m at the house, I prefer Budweiser. I also enjoy Lowenbrau, but I have to special order it, so I only get it about three or four times a year.

This thread has made me think about the cheap crap I used to drink in college, namely Milwaukee’s Beast, Olympia, and Busch. God, how did I manage to endure that swill?

Does anyone else think John Smiths tastes sweet?

Lone Star - The National Beer of Texas

Luckily I get to prance around and enjoy the benfits of the best beer in the world for the cheapest price- on average, $0.75 per half-liter (roughly 16oz.).

My favorites (all on tap and fresh as the dickens):
Velkopopovicky Kozel
Radegast
Branik
Gambrinus (same brewery as Pilsner Urquell)
Pilsner Urquell (10x better than the bottled stuff you get)

They have different types at each brewery, light and dark, different degrees and etc. Normally my favorite is ‘Rezane pivo’ which is half light and half dark- like Black and Tans, but not layered - just made with whatever they have on tap. So you sometimes get a Pilsner Urqull/Gambrinus Dark, or Branik/Kozel Dark or ???

Unfortunately…I’m on a diet. So I drink wine these days.

Mmmm…Celebration Ale! That’s probably my favorite beer of all time. I drank quite a bit of it this winter, but alas, it’s time has passed for another year…

When I can’t get that though, I generally prefer IPAs. Lots of hops for me. Just about any brand is good, although Deschutes’ Quail Springs IPA is a little on the tame side. I adore Hop Ottin’, Full Sail IPA, Pyramid…lots of others.

Regarding Pilsener Urquell…yes, it’s fantastic, although personally I prefer Bitburger Pils, which has a much sharper hoppy bitterness. As I said, I love lots of hops.

Also (and this may be blasphemy to Pilsener-philes) I’d rather have the cheap Kiwi export, Steinlager. That’s some tasty beer. (And only $2 for the 25 ounce bottle.)

I’m not even going to start on barley wines. I could be here all day…

Firewitch, you drink HARP?!!!
jesus, you’re a brave woman.

i like Guinness (only in irelnad), Stella and Grolsch.

Heineken does when there’s nothing else.

Pilsner Urquell made backpacking in eastern europe heavenly.
too hard to get here.

Amstel reminds me of holidays in Crete, drinking by the pool…legally drinking at 14 is a wonderful feeling!

Dutch Gold on the other hand reminds me of drinking in crummy student flats and making snakebite from Bulmers… yuck.

i don’t drink american beer if there’s something else (anything alse) on offer.

I’ll just wait for the Belgians to show up and present their cases.

Bottled: Stoudt’s Scarlet Lady ESB

Draught: Sam Adams Winter Lager

Shot-and-a-beer beer: Red Stripe (coupled with Jack Daniel’s (and of course I enjoy a Red Stripe all by its lonesome, as well))

For when I ain’t feelin’ happy with the state of things in my life, and I’m workin’ to make it better: A six of Miller High Life

My favorite beer? The one that someone else bought for me.

A decade ago in Venezuela, I was introduced to these adorable little cans (7 oz or so) of Polar. We ended up on a jungle tour with a group of Venezuelan Tupperware ladies and their husbands. Those ice cold cans (2 gulp average) on a hot day turned me into a wild woman. Consequently, I have one of my all time favorite travel photos - me in the thick jungle, with the tour guide holding a machete to my throat. I thought it was a good idea at the time, but I wouldn’t recommend it (or, for obvious reasons, a vacation to that region) right now.

Having spent a goodly amount of time there I sat up and thought of championing the cause, but I know there are a few REAL Belgians on here. . .
But. . . ok. Question: no offense, but what’s the deal with English beer-drinkers and Stella? Of ALL the wondrous Belgian elixers, why Stella? We ARE talking about Stella Artois, right? It’s the closest to a light lager of the bunch (with the exception of Jupiler, whose existence just confuses me). . . I mean, it’s practically American beer. You might as well drink Dutch beer.
[this is where I duck and find some cover, but de gustibus non disputandum est. I guess I just don’t like lagers]

Guinness and Rolling Rock’s Grasshopper (nice in the summer).

But I make a really nice oatmeal stout.
