I got Brian Eno - Discreet Music
Tangerine Dream - Stratosfear
So what cds did you buy today?
Not today, but earlier in the week:
Ramones All the Stuff and More, vols 1 and 2, which are the albums Ramones, Leave Home, Rocket to Russia and Road to Ruin. Bought them in this format because my vinyl copies of the original albums won’t fit in the CD player. Curses!
PiL - This is What You Want, This is What You Get
Yesterday, I bought the soundtrack to “The Producers”
It’s a Wonderful Life by Sparklehorse
and
Vingt regards sur l’enfant Jésus composed by Olivier Messiaen and performed by Hakon Austbo
Both are just peachy.
I didn’t buy them but I took the time to find them and check them out from the local public library.
Dusty Springfield “Goin Back”
The Ultimate Puccini Collection
Fleetwood Mac “Bare Trees”
Guster “Lost and Gone Forever”
MTV Buzz Bin
Stephen Sondheim “Into the Woods, original Broadway cast recording”
The Last Days of Disco Soundtrack
and my most joyful find–“Stoned Immaculate–the music of the Doors”. It features contemporary artists performing Doors music with the surviving members. Artists like Stone Temple Pilots, Creed, Train, Smash Mouth, Aerosmith, The Cult, John Lee Hooker, Oleander, Perry Farrell, Bo Diddly, and Travis Meeks of Days of the New is a revelation. This was shown on VH1 also, I think.
The library has changed from when I was a child but it still remains one of my most favorite places. I can’t believe that they have all those books there and I can read ANY OF THEM ANY TIME THAT I WANT!!
I’ve learned that you have to dig thru a whole lot of weird stuff sometimes but that every once in a while they do mess up and get some really, really nice CD’s.
“Awake” Godsmack.
Sunday I went to the Gillian Welch concert in Chicago. I bought her latest cd there, It’s “(Time)Revelator” .
The cd is wonderful, the concert rocked, or should I say alt-countried, the 150 mile trip that took 4+ hours sucked big time though. I don’t know how anyone can stand the traffic in Chicago.
The last CD I bought was in early June. It was the soundtrack to O Brother, Where Art Thou?. It was for somebody else.
The last CD I bought before that was in early December . . . 1998. It was by some band called Moxy Froofroos or something. It was for somebody else.
I’m assuming you meant music. I got a copy of Dreamweaver yesterday.
