I really doubt it would be possible to get any worse without being dead. When she goes into the crazy mode she is in a perpetual state of OD. After a one week episode it is not unusual for her entire body to be covered in massive bruises, broken nose, two black eyes, cuts to the head and body etc. all from falling. I suspect that xanax might have something to do with setting these episodes off.
She is off xanax now and only taking a nerve pain reducer for her surgery scar called nuerotin ( spelling?) With that and a couple of beers each day she seems to be funtioning very well if not just slightly manic.
She spent 30 days in ICU following the surgery because of an infection. Durring that period she had an episode that lasted about 5 days. It was the first time I had seen her in a controlled setting have one of these episodes where she had no access to alcohol. She had no idea where she was or that she even had surgery. Her sex drive was going through the ceiling and she was talking a mile a minute. Her Dr’s were baffled. I asked them what she was on andthey said a low dose morfine drip and 2 xanax a day. I asked them to remove the xanax and she seemed to return to normal pretty quick.
I don’t know why we can’t seem to get a diagnosis for this, they all say simple anxiety disorder and alcoholism but I don’t buy it. She is too high functioning and too normal when not having these episodes.
