What did you do for Sysadmin Appreciation day?

The lurker awakens… and even starts a thread… wow.

Anyhow, fellow systems administrators, what did you do to celebrate Sysadmin Appreciation Day (see also http://www.sysadminday.com/)???

And users, what did you do to thank your sysadmins?

For those of you that didn’t know, the last friday in July is systems admin appreciation day. Don’t worry if you forgot, we sysadmins are forgiving folk, just have a pizza delivered about 1pm on monday with a note saying “sorry I forgot on friday, thanks for all the hard work” (or something like that)

My boss (root admin) and I (system admin) worked for most of the day, then took a very late lunch, had some pizza and beer, and swapped humorous war stories about stupid (l)users. We then headed back to the office, put in our hours, and despite having taken two hours off for lunch, had both worked over 50 hours…

I love my job (and that’s not sarcasm)… but in all seriousness, if you forgot to thank your sysadmin on friday, buy him/her lunch monday, or perform some sexual favor… we’re pretty flexible

I only looked at this thread because I thought Sysadmin was some kind of prescription drug. I have no appreciation for systems administrators. They are a despicable and loathesome lot.

BTW, happy sysadmin day.

I asked an exceptionally stupid question (even I’m ashamed of it) on Thursday, so that he’d have a great story to tell his sysadmin friends later on.

And today I waved as he took off for the weekend. enough?

I started threads on Brunchma and on the UnaBoard about the day, giving shout-outs to all the sysadmin members in those two realms.

I work freelance from home. I admin myself. (Dirty girl).

My company told me that I’ll likely be an ex-SysAdmin come December. Does that count? :frowning:

The writing is on the wall… time to switch to BOFH mode.

Thanks, we try…

by the way, your user name and ip have been entered into Pitr’s secret evil-overlord database… hence forth all your mail will be directed to /dev/null, and all your service requests will be answered with a very polite, “we’ll put that on todays action list” which is promptly thrown into the circular file.

All hail Pitr.

Right. What was your username again?

Clickity-click.

Teased the tech boy, as usual. When he was leaving, I said “Isn’t today your day?” and said thank you, but I think he was thinking about other things cuz he didn’t reply.
