What did YOU learn today?

I learned the code on the tires affected by the Firestone recall (something I didn’t want to know; now I’m going to be expected to inspect the stupid defective things).

I learned that my next door neighbors’ friends are even bigger losers than my neighbors themselves.

I learned that substitutes rarely measure up to the real thing.

Welfy, he’s a friend from last year, not the home-schooled one, this one is Mexican and he’s liked me since before I even started going out with my ex, I realized that I’m clueless.

I learned that love can be staring you in the face without you even realzing it.

I learned that if it was meant to be then love can wait for you to be ready to accept it.

I learned that the right guy for you could seeem so very wrong at first until you find out what’s right beneath the surface.

I learned that sonnets about you are so much sweeter when they’re in Spanish.

I learned that although it takes time, you learn to get over things, especially when you have someone special that’s willing to help.

I learned that the people on the SDMB are the greatest and so many of them really care. (Lots of hugs to you Welfy)

  1. I learned that somebody stole the flat-bed scanner from our department’s computer lab.
  2. I learned that another department in our building had a flat-bed scanner, which they kindly let me use.
  3. I learned that there was a live Macintosh computer in our building (our company has long since abandoned the platform for internal use): it was attached to the scanner. I remembered how sloooooow a Mac PowerPC 7300 is. Ugh.
  4. I learned (or was reminded) that the Anaheim Angels are sometimes referred to as “the Halos.” They DID have halos tonight – they beat Seattle to help boost my Oakland A’s to AL West leader!!! Woo hoo!!

I learned that the Giants’ website sucks sucks sucks.

I learned that it’s really bad to throw away a password until you’re positive that you’ve copied it down correctly on another piece of paper.

That’s about it. It was not a very educational day.

I learned that I can intimidate someone much larger than I, if need be.

I learned that Schumacher only has to get two more points than Hakkinen at Suzuka in order to clinch the Formula One World Championship. I also learned that I’m going to have a hard time actually seeing this crucial event, as I will probably be in Boston, away from the much better cable network I get here at school, which has Speedvision.

I learnt that if you’re going to powerwash the shower, it’s a good idea to turn it on outside before bringing it in. You know, just in case it leaks somewhere, and soaks the entire bathroom floor…

I just bought a Steven Hawking book, so I am anticipating the things I will learn from reading it.

I learned that bears, while quite large, are very quite when they move and can in fact get very close to you before you realize it.

I also learned that “getting the crap scared out of you” is not just an expression.

I learned that family reunions are not that bad if you have cousins near your own age.

I learned that even baseball players suck at hitting pinatas.

I learned that the “big kids” have first dibs on the extra pinata candy. (Yum!)

I learned that nicknames are really fun (right Russ Russ and Wachel Wachel?)

I learned that pet names make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside

I learned how to dismantle a bed.
I also learned how to replace the blades on windshield wipers [for a car].

I learned that my new shades won’t fall off on roller coasters.

I learned that I wasn’t as clueless as I thought I was (thus restoring my tarnished faith in humanity).

I don’t like being drunk around people I am not very good friends with.

I don’t trust the world to take care of me anymore.

I went to a hockey game last night, and skated with some players after the game.

I learned that ice is a whole different ball of wax than roller-blading. Tara Lipinski, I am not . . .
Tripler
Jaromir Jagr, eat your heart out.

I learned that sleeping with someone just for the sake of sleeping can be a very nice thing indeed.

I learned that homework sucks on the weekends. Especially when you forget to bring it home in the first place.

I learned that patience is a virtue.

I learned that when there is tension and lack of communication between people, nothing good can come out of it.

I learned that my father being angry at me and not speaking to me since upon coming home this morning has to be the most painful thing to deal with right now.

I learned that amitriptylin isn’t much of a help.

I learned that Namer didn’t wear shoes because he was on holy ground.

I learned that our church (which just had it’s 125 anniversary celebration today – woohoo!) has had some very distinguished and downright interesting people as members over the years (besided Ruffian and me, of course). Oh yeah, and I learned that our church and Pasadena were founded right about the same time.

I learned there’s no way on God’s green earth that I’m going to make it through my kid’s four years of college (sane, that is).

I learned there’s no way on God’s green earth that I’m going to make it through my own four years of college…
:^)

I learned that there’s hope that I may get to say “I’m an archaeologist” in the very near future, if I can get my full-time job to give me 2 days off a week so I can do contract work for this firm that does archaeology… I am SOOO excited but anticipate a battle with my full-time job, and archaeology pays dirt (pardon the pun) and the work is project to project, no full-timers, so I can’t quit and work for the archaeology firm… I also learned that I’m typing so fast cuz I’m so psyched that I made a whole bunch of errors and damn well better preview this post!

Wish me luck!
