pre mixed pineapple…once in a while Knudsen will have pineapple with cherry
wasn’t it weight watchers that started the whole fruit with the cottage cheese as the 'diet lunch? one thing ive learned from family feud is you don’t have to be smart to win … much like wheel of fortune …
Wish we could have chosen more than one.
I went with peaches. But I also put pears and pineapple in mine.
I love me some cottage cheese and fruit.
Grew up with applesauce as a topping for cottage cheese. Still enjoy it.
Another vote for tomato. Cottage cheese and tomatoes is a summer staple of mine. Had it for dinner last night, as a matter of fact. I wouldn’t eat any of the others listed with cottage cheese. Only tomato.
Comfort food from childhood was with pineapple, but I also liked it with salt and pepper. Still do.
I didn’t give the top answer because I didn’t want to pollute the poll but the top answer, which was what surprised me was:
peaches with 42 votes. And pineapple was second with 38 votes and then strawberry and apple with less than 10 each.
Growing up, cottage cheese was either plain or with pineapple. That’s the only choice we were given.
With all the people saying peaches and tomatoes I wonder if it might be a regional thing.
And I never would have thought to put pepper in it. I like me some spicy things but that just seems an odd combo.
I like blueberries or strawberries and black pepper usually, but pineapple would be my third choice.
I always have canned peaches, pears, and pineapple in the pantry, but Peaches are my first choice with cottage cheese.
Cherry flavored gelatin is also good with cottage cheese.
For fruit, I like pineapple best, but rarely have it around. I chose banana, since that is what I usually go for.
My favorite thing in cottage cheese, though, is shredded carrots or sliced radishes.
I eat low sodium cottage cheese with some Sriracha and nori flakes. I don’t do fruit in it.
I do put fruit in plain yogurt though.
I grew up with cottage either plain, or with grape jelly, or with applesauce mixed in. Nowadays, just plain.
I do tomatoes and sprinkle balsamic vinegar on both.
Haven’t eaten cottage cheese in a long time. Might have to get some. I usually just put salt and pepper on it like my mom did (and maybe still does).
Pineapple first choice, but tinned pears or peaches are okay too. As someone mentioned above, a little fruit cocktail with a cherry or two is also nice, but I wouldn’t want a lot of cherries with cottage cheese.
Pineapple. Not a big cottage cheese fan, but when you put pineapple in it, it’s yummy.
A variety of vegetables (including tomatoes and peppers) work well with cottage cheese, and bacon works well with everything. But culinary fruits? None of the above. I’ll eat my cottage cheese plain before I put culinary fruits in it.
I voted pineapple but I can see all the onion/salt/pepper/tomato options as good, too. I like cottage cheese in a salad with all those things (and raisins!) with thousand island dressing.
