Let’s see … the last sunny day for a while, so I’ve been busy:
Woke up at 9:30, shooed a stink bug out the window, then got smelly hands.
Washed hands in kids’ bathroom, noticed sink was stopped up.
Fed 5 cats.
Went outside and helped Jo Kerrwoman with four dogs’ morning rounds.
Fetched the paper, came back in and enjoyed TWO days’ worth of comics with breakfast.
Got the neighbor’s circular saw that he wanted back, gathered up the dogs with Mrs. K and walked them a mile, dropping the saw off at said neighbor’s house.
Fixed the clogged sink. Fixed a loose door.
Checked coolant level in truck that needs a new intake valve gasket. Looks OK. Gets fixed Tuesday.
Replaced a chain saw chain.
Carried chain saw and maul to woods. Chain saw won’t start. Damn.
Gave up on chain saw. Gathered a dozen or so pieces of firewood and split with a maul for 45 minutes.
Periodically tried chain saw. Damn. Must have flooded it.
Peckered around on Facebook and Internet.
Remembered other neighbor who offered me some deck boards. Visited neighbors’ yard and learned he had THIRTY 11-foot-long boards for free. That’s a lot! Carried them to my yard and set them up to dry out a bit. (Yay! new stairs AND planters!)
Helped Mrs. K make salads for lunch and gathered food for work.
Had lunch together. (Cheeseburgers! Yum!)
Hunted for REM’s “Lifes Rich Pageant” and “Reconstruction of the Fables,” to no avail, after voting on them in poll last night. I miss them.
Drove to work at 2:30. Normal 45-minute commute took 90. Damn Roosevelt Boulevard ramp closure.
Came to work. Laid out two newspaper sections. Met with colleagues. Now wait for editing and proofing. Pray to get home before 11 and catch DVR’d “Medium” premiere.
Sex would be nice tonight, too, but that might count as tomorrow.
Let’s see … slept in until about 10 today, then surfed the net, watched some TV, showered, and left my place. Browsed around Borders, got some chairs at Target, went and saw the movie “The Town” (pretty good) and then came home. That brings us roughly to right now. All in all, a decent day off.
Made breakfast.
Waxed the front of the new motor home.
Attempted to clean the dried mineral deposits off the windshield of same, with no luck.
Ordered window polish.
Changed the wiper blades on the car.
Painted the balcony rail.
Bought cheeses and wines to pair with the Hood River pears for tonight’s soiree.
Read a bit.
Took a nap.
Well, it started with the big ugly milk crate full of I don’t know what in the middle of my floor that I’ve been avoiding for about six months or so. I don’t even remember putting all that crap in there.
So I pulled it and a trash can next to the bed and started digging and throwing away and sorting. I managed to find that ever elusive cable that connects my micro digital camera to the USB. The box was done in twenty minutes, between football plays. I made lunch as a reward. Then I hit the bedroom closets. Four hours and three trash bags later, two closets are completely organized and stacked neatly, clutter free.
I de-junked the dining room table, which has been buried for so long I’m too embarrased to say when I last changed the table cloth.
I switched out my summer and winter clothes. That job is not completely finished, as I have yet to tote the summer clothes up to the attic. But in the process I culled three bags worth of stuff for Goodwill. It felt wonderful to get rid of stuff that’s now too big for me.
I’ll now spend the rest of the day working on a necklace. It’s a commission, not the kind of beadwork I like doing, and I’m kicking myself for accepting the job. I just want to finish the damned thing.
I’d like to cheat a little and include last night. I posted on Facebook on a networks site requesting that they reinstate a TV show I really miss. I was polite and respectful… and I was banned for 3 days from posting on public forums on Facebook for conduct that others might find ‘annoying’.
:dubious:
Ok, so an app which spams the daylights out of all its member’s accounts with Farmville, Mafia, and Treasure Isle ‘present’ notifications has found my conduct ‘annoying’. The Irony… It Bu-uuuurns!!!:dubious:
Today I shared thoughts about it with some good friends, gamed a little, and scrubbed clean both bathrooms. Tomorrow I’ll have some family & friends over for the official party for my youngest’s 8th birthday.
Mowed the lawn, read the Times, spoke to my daughter in Germany for an hour on Skype about her trip to Oktoberfest in Munich, and just about to finish picking up stuff off the floor of my office so I can run the Roomba in here.
I woke up and showered… before noon! Shortly thereafter I went to the bowling alley for a little practice and bowled a personal high of 264. I came home, had a po-boy, and bragged about my score(it was 264, in case you didn’t know). Participated in a Hami Raid on City of Heroes and have watched football since then. It’s almost time for burgers and LSU football now. A pretty nice Saturday, all in all.
I had a nice day. Made pancakes for breakfast from a bottle of genuine Swiss imported American pancake-approximation, then I drank espresso until I felt jocular. Went to town and bought a new child’s toothbrush in electric pink dolphin motif. I’m not trying to be cute; I was pathetically overwhelmed by the choice. Went for lunch and ate most of the aioli in the North West, and my apologies to anyone planning to make out with me in the next month. Bought new glasses - the hundred quid pair I bought from the specialist vintage shop make me look like a big hipster weenie but a thirty pound pair from the Specsavers Budget Geriatric Range in finest plastic-like substance suit me down to the ground. Figures. Had a fit of jollity in Oxfam and bought two books - an Adrian Mole and a Patti Smith biography, a couple of decorative glass bottles, a Merino wool jumper and an old-school M&S slip dress for sixteen quid. Sixteen! I was going to buy a really nice pair of gentlemen’s brogues but suspected they’d been died in.
Then I supervised the wife’s wiring and ate two punnets of grapes in front of a clip show about the internet. 8/10.
Woke up at my husband’s apartment.
Got up with him, had a cup of coffee with him, kissed him goodbye (yes, he works Sundays which is why we were at his apartment. Sigh…)
Had another cup of coffee, read my mail, ate a bit of cheese bread and two apples.
Did and hung a load of his laundry and cleaned his bathroom area a bit.
Woke the kids up and continued to read mail and news etc as they beetled about getting dressed and their own breakfast.
The three of us packed our stuff up, packed the car, washed the dishes, did a final check to see we hadn’t left any chargers or cables.
Locked the door to husband’s apartment and drove two and a half hours back to our house.
Unpacked the car into the kitchen and entrance way then lost interest in it.
Went to MIL’s house with present of dried fish jerky (yum. Not.)
Went to the shops for milk and ten jam jars.
Came home and watched a Miss Marple on Youtube. For some reason my 14 year old son loves them and can be bribed to massage my back while we watch. We are watching a lot of Miss Marple lately…
Nagged the kids into getting ready for school tomorrow.
Had another cup of coffee and looked up plum jam recipes online as I have a few kgs of plums from the weekend that need something doing with.
Once the kids are upstairs then I’ll tackle the jam. Am likely to leave the mess for the morning though.
Oh, and put the stove on for the first time this season.
My husband and toddler are away visiting inlaws this weekend, so it’s me and the baby. When they get back they’ll be bringing two incontinent cats. So today is Cats Prep Day. Plus other stuff I have trouble doing with toddler around.
I got up, changed and played with baby, baked four coffee cakes (my husband’s weekday breakfast), played with baby, nursed baby, put in laundry, played with baby, put baby down for nap, cleaned the bathroom, ate breakfast, unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher, cleaned the fridge, took out the compost, read a crappy book, pumped breastmilk.
Okay. Baby is moving, time to rock him.
Got him back to sleep.
Bleached toilet and switched laundry over.
Baby awake. Lunchtime, load him into Jolly Jumper while I type out account of the day into silly internet. Turn around to make faces at baby every ten seconds.
Try to decide if I want to do anything elaborate for dinner or just pasta.
Whew.
My 2 year old (well almost three) can be bribed effectively with Doctor Who. We’ve seen every new episode at least five times.
I’m on 2 weeks bed rest following surgery to repair a fractured metatarsal so I woke up, hobbled to the shower, hobbled to the sofa and there I sat, reading a book, surfing the net and watching the the Singapore Grand Prix. Had a nap. When that four walls got boring, I bumped down the stairs on my butt where I sit reading a book, surfing the net…
Hubby on the other hand has made spagetti sauce, tomato soup and banana bread, watered the plants, trimmed the vines in the garden and done 2 loads of wash. He’s going out of town on business for three days. I suspect he’s looking forward to the holiday.
I WAS going to do laundry today, but my mom’s doing hers, and she usually takes awhile, so I guess that’ll have to wait 'till tomorrow.
I got up, got dressed, made lunch, and now I’m posting on the Dope and reading SCP’s.
What I need to do (and what I’ll probably do tonight) is watch my Netflix movie (Das Boot), because I’ve had it forever, and I need to return it so I can get my next movie. I don’t even remember what’s next on my queue.
I am shredding cheques from the 1990s while reading SDMB and toying with Facebook. I just put some laundry in the washer. I argued with Jehovah’s witnesses. I made a burrito from Whole Foods for lunch. Later I want to vaccum and empty the dishwasher.
Monday i shredded cheques and bank statements, and cut the grass, took out the trash and recycling.
