What if I do not wish to be referenced in someone's sig?

I’m wondering, if someone puts my name, or a qoute or something like that in their siggy, and I do not wish it to be thier, do they have to take it out?

First of all, IANAMod/Admin, and I have no idea what they do generally.

That having been said, you might want to first e-mail the person (if they have e-mail enabled) and ask them to change it first. If that does not work, I personally would then ask the mods if they could modify it.

Why would you be concerned about anyone referencing you in his sig?

Actually, I believe it is customary that when one is giving advice as a member that one should make it clear that they are a member and as such, staff may have a completely different opinion as to what to do and may soundly lash me with a wet noodle. :smiley: Therefore, I prefer to preface all posts where I’m taking a guess (hopefully informed, although sometimes that’s pretty dubious) as to a possible solution or action with the statement that I am a member and as such am merely stating my own personal opinion. I try to state my opinion generally only when a matter appears fairly routine, but attempt not to inadvertently stray from such.

So to restate, in my own opinion, that of lel and nobody else, I myself would prefer to be e-mailed regarding a possibly offensive sig line first, thereby giving me the chance to simply change the offending sig line.

(MachineHead, you might want to note that I have also changed my sig line.)

Fine by me. I didn’t start anything in the first place. I’m perfectly happy here, and I hope MachineHead can be the same. There’s plenty to discuss here without dragging anyone through the mud, so to speak.
