What Is All The Porn Doing To Me?

What effect is all of the porn I look at having on me? Could it be raising my testosterone levels?? How would high testosterone effect my health??? My verbal skills??? My behavior???

Thanks.

I could cause you to have a skewed view of interpersonal relationships.

Why would you want to do that?

I have heard that excessive masturbation can affect your typpppping sk*io(@#*sSi

Well, if you find yourself reacting to the sight of any random woman with flashbacks to the porn you’ve been staring at, you could end up staring at the woman and feeling some of the same feelings / thinking some of the same thoughts that accompanied your porn-watching activities. This could have an effect on how you interact with women, if you see what I mean.

<<What effect is all of the porn I look at having on me? >>
Perhaps that question should have been asked with your ‘small’ voice? Porn, in and of itself really does nothing to anyone, unless they will an influence, or are seeking to justify actions.

Case in point: Smokers. Yeah, they could quit smoking… Most of them would need to be locked into escape proof rooms to break the cycle, but it is theoretically possible, with the right self-talk.

I believe the addiction/fascination with porn is similar. You can choose simply not to look.

Well, gone are the days of stuffing playboys under the bed to hide them from mom huh??? Now one can log-in and find the most raunchy, lude, crude, amazing sex acts there ever were. Nothing is hidden nothing is kept away from your little virgin eyes.

Well, I would say that if you are noticing a change in the way you are looking at your math teacher, then it is time to utilize the computer for something else than relaxing with your thoughts.
Porn is used for one reason and one reason only… to make more money plain and simple. Even if you are not paying to get on a site, someone is getting paid when you enter that site.

Unplug a while from the free sites and (if you don’t have one already) get a girlfriend and have a blast… not necessarily in the sack but go on a few dates and the (relaxing singular moments * should decrease in frequency… Also proven fact chronic masturbation leads to lethargy…

I know that you’ll get a lot of joking responses, so I’m taking you seriously instead. Some people do become addicted to porn. It’s a form of sex addiction. Addicts can’t function sexually without it, are only happy when looking at it, masturbate to the exclusion of other sex acts, etc., etc. This can be treated with therapy or sometimes medicaton such as Prozac.

Here’s an article:

I’ve known a couple of people with this disorder, and it can really have a devastating affect on your life. If you think you might need help, please find a good therapist.

Of course I meant IT could cause problems with interpersonal relationships. For example, that scene in Taxi Driver where TB takes his date to the XXX theater and couldn’t understand why she freaked (granted TB had other “issues”).

I take no credit for being pornography personified.

what i find ammusing about this thread is adam yax’s sig in the first post. that pretty much answers the question in the OP pretty well, i think:D

Dunno about you, but I get these awkward chafing problems if I overdo it.

And to be serious, porn “does” nothing to you. It can be overused and abused, however, as most other behaviors can.

What’s it doing to you?

Well, for one, put the time spent together with the time you spend at the SDMB, and you’ve got time sufficient to write your first novel with lots left over to learn guitar.

Could repeated, frequent … umm, satisfaction … deplete the opiate/dopamine levels in your neurons to dangerously low levels? (a la the alleged dopamine deficits that befall heavy ecstasy abusers?)

masturbation is the key to life…

as long as you don’t worry about all those dead kittens, hahaha

I’ll admit up front that I’m not a big fan of porn, but my husband is. From our experience, porn has caused me to not want to have sex with him. Here’s a typical situation:

Hubby: Come see this! I want us to try it.
Wyvern: Eeeww. I don’t think so. Anyway where can we get a cow and a jar of guava jam at this time of night?

Seriously, knowing that my spouse enjoys porn makes me feel very uncomfortable.

That is going in my sig!
Right above “Take THAT macarena!”

wyvern porn is the least of your problems.

you have a marriage on the rocks. your husband obviously wants some excitement in his life and you don’t want anything from him, jelly or no jelly.

get some counseling.

( a cow, jesus, a cow??? )

Actually, I was kinding about the cow, but not the guava jam. I have seen porn with goats though, thanks to me being way to courious on the net. Never type “legal + animals” into a search engine. I was looking for animal control laws and found goats with young women. It was months before I got online again, but I digress.

As for my current state of matrimony. We’re doing o.k., I have no problem with erotic stuff. We have a on going debate over what is “porn”. I think the karma sutra is erotic, he thinks its porn. I have a really problem with porn is that I feel the women are being objectified. In most of the porn I have seen (which is very little I’ll admit) women are just there for sex. There is not real seduction or any real attention to sensuality. Also, the women are very attractive, but the men tend to be average looking. I believe that porn makes men see women as sex objects and not as fellow human beings. Still, my spouse likes to watch it every once in awhile and I just don’t join him.

wyvern, the comet…wow, i could go on all night answering your last comment but i am to tired. looking at all this internet porn wears a guy out you know.

“ok” may be ok for you but sooner or later hubby is going to find someone to watch porn with him. there is porn for ladies, if you can believe that, made by women producers in the porn business. it has all the soft lighting and seduction.

the reason the porn men are just fair looking is pretty easy to explain. in sex all a woman has to do is be there. a guy has to not only have an erection but usually does all the work. try to imagine being able to get and keep an erection in front of a complete camera crew. the guys that can do that, about one in a million, wind up in the porn business.

(goats, jesus, goats)

Looking at porn causes testosterone levels to SURGE- and I found PROOF-
http://www.loper.org/~george/trends/1998/Nov/7.html

But there was a quick cure if, when the winner was not around, the loser got a glimpse of a sexually receptive female monkey. His testosterone level promptly rose. It surged even though he had no chance of having sex because he was in a cage looking out at an unobtainable female

So what effect(s) could this have? And are they temporary or permanent??
