What is Diogenes the Cynic's Condition Called

Diogenea: the mental condition in which that a person believes that everything they say or wrote is factual. And if there is any discrepancy between their words and reality, it is reality that is off. When challenged, a person suffering from the affliction will often point to a previous utterance they’ve made as “proof” that his or her position comports with the real world.

There is no known cure.

This is the ultimate Dio statement and explains every single post of his. If it didn’t happen to ***HIM ***then it didn’t happen at all.

See, where he lives no one ever passes on the left. Therefore no one in the history of the world has ever passed on the left.

Dio’s world is one of absolutes. The absolutes are based upon his experience and his experience only. Since we (according to Dio) all live in his world then we all must live by his absolutes.

Simple, isn’t it? Now we all just have to get on the same page as Dio and all will be well.

Word! You can’t get mad at people with TAPD. You can laugh at them, but that’s not nice. The correct thing to do is to look upon them with some form of gentle, yet bemused pity, while ignoring them. Engage them if you must, but be aware of their condition, and react accordingly.

I wonder what would happen if I posted conflicting anecdotes of my experiences in Minnesota. Would the thread explode?

Well, there’s the Diogenes syndrome, but I’m not sure if that applies.

So, as I said, that statement was false. And you’re talking about reading comprehension, you pathetic imbecile?

A false statement arrived at through poor logic.

Or are you saying there was no thinking involved at arriving at that conclusion?

Pitting Dio is signaling behavior for dopers. It’s like “Hi Opal!” Or else, I don’t understand thoroughly what he’s beyond called out on. It’s a step above Four Chan memery. Straight Dope, congratulations on being slightly less self indulgent than Four Chan

I think it’s lame to get angry about somebody in the left lane obeying the speed limit because you want to go faster. Pit me please, I want to know how it feels!

Could be worse— at least it isn’t Magellanitis*. <shudder>
A degenerative and ultimately fatal brain disorder characterized by chronic bedwetting (even in the absence of a nearby bed); extreme paranoia directed toward homosexuals, non-whites, non-Christians, and liberals; and an inability to recognize one’s own image reflected in mirrors.

No, I said it doesn’t happen if they’re going the speed limit or better.

Exactly. A patently dumb statement on the surface.

How would you know?

In Wa State alone, did you review all 10,000 cases in 2010?

Did you? How many were going the speed limit or better?

The “lack of shame” part certainly seems to apply. :dubious:

Yes, I have. I have access to WSP database through a contract and ran a query this morning.

This was the result:
“We’re sorry, this query is so moronic the query optimizer has decided to simply not run it. If you attempt anything this stupid again all of your privileges will be revoked.”

He’s a troll who got that thread all off topic.

Then he and a moderator went back and forth for a while, further derailing the thread.

I don’t get it. Why is he so special as to troll and not be banned?

That simply shows that you don’t understand what narcissism really is (or what it may entail). Oh lookee, Wikipedia has this little tidbit (among other things):

Claiming to be an “expert” at most things.

At least one mod has been on record (replete with Mod Hat) as saying that he gets to operate under special rules.

That’s really pretty sad, then.

Sam Lowry: I only know you got the wrong man.
Jack Lint: Information Transit got the wrong man. I got the right man. The wrong one was delivered to me as the right man, I accepted him on good faith as the right man. Was I wrong?

Stranger

Which mod said that?

The special one, I assume.
