What is (was) for dinner tonight?

I had a curry at tea time, Chicken Jal Frazei, and at two in the morning a Meatfeast pizza.

I’m working nights at the moment.

Have stopped drinking large amounts of very strong coffee now as it was giving me indigestion, have changed to large amounts of double bagger tea, which keeps me awake equally well, with no obvious side effects so far.
Plus tea is so much more civilised, you uncultured colonial barbarians !

My thoughts exactly.

I sliced up an onion and added it to my cast iron skillet with a bit of olive oil and kosher salt, then added two frozen potato hash brown patties.

I left it all to cook 10 minutes on each side at around 2 to 3, covered.

I then fried up some eggs and made multi grain toast that I heavily buttered.

I made a sandwich of the eggs, then enjoyed the onion/potato as a side dish.

It was so good that I may have it again today for lunch.

Last night, the Fella and I went here to celebrate his birthday http://www.castleheightschophouse.net/ . He had the prime rib and I had the Mongolian pork shanks. It was delicious.

This evening, it was back to family food: Sauteed chicken chunks with portabella mushrooms and onions over rice with a sprinkle of grated asiago, marinated summer squash and sliced tomatoes from the farmers’ market (they’re especially good this year) with cottage cheese. The boys all had a bowl of ice cream for dessert.

Grassfed t-bones, roasted broccoli, and a green salad with cucumbers and heirloom tomato.

Sauteed sockeye salmon filet, roasted yam chunks, steamed broccoli.

Lightly breaded (one side only) and fried pork tenderloin medallions, potato pancakes with scallions and sour cream, fresh pineapple and coleslaw.

I joined Weight Watchers today. Then my husband suddenly got hungry and started asking what “we” were having for meals.

Dinner was a fakey-fake eggplant parmesan that I made up on the spot. Slices of eggplant sauteed with melted mozzarella and parmesan on top, eaten with spaghetti and tomato sauce.

Country style pork ribs, oven braised with molasses, chipotle, garlic and a bit of tomato paste. Served with green salad, cornbread and veggies.

Grilled beef bulgogi, and caprese tomato salad.

This sounds great!

It was pretty tasty but a little over-sweet. I’ll cut back on the molasses next time.

Tonight is a Bacon Chicken Ranch Macaroni and Cheese - I think it’s this one. I’ve never made it before, so we’ll see how it goes. I’ll probably up the bacon (1 slice only? Seriously?) and use 2% milk instead (it’s all we have; I generally don’t buy skim). I’m also a little peeved about the measurement on the canned soup, but what can you do. (1/3 of a cup? Really? So I get to do what with the rest? Probably toss it.)

Here’s hoping it’s good. I’ve had good luck with Cooking Light recipes, so I think it will be.

Tomorrow is mayo-and-parmesan crusted baked chicken breasts with steamed broccoli, with red pepper, sausage, & tomato penne on Wednesday. Then I need to go to the store.

Steaks, baked potatoes and sauteed mushrooms. We went to the store today.

Fettucine Alfredo; I saw what waspurportedly the original recipe in Saveur years ago.

Burgers on the new grill!

Well, it was Beef Stroganoff, only made with hamburger, and over rice because I’m tired of noodles. But yes, it did have the mushrooms and onions and garlic, it did have a homemade sauce with chicken base in it, and it did have sour cream in it. And the cats thought that they were gonna DIE if they didn’t get some. But I gave them gooshyfood instead, because our food had the onions and garlic.

Grilled cheese on homemade bread. Made with cheddar cheese and with dill pickles on the side.

StG

We had a pasta salad made with oddball pasta I’d never had before. I threw in a homemade balsamic vinaigrette, purslane leaves (raw), green onion tops (raw), green onion bottoms (sauteed), shitake mushrooms (sauteed), and carrot slices (raw). I let that chill out in the fridge for a few hours, then when we got home I halved some cherry tomatoes & threw them in at the last minute. This group was mostly to reduce some of the things we got in our CSA share Thursday.

I thought it was okay, but overdressed. My husband liked it enough to have seconds. Of course, he had also basically forgotten to eat today, but he did say he liked it. I think that means it can be his lunch tomorrow.

Pork dumplings from Trader Joes with sauteed snow peas, tomatoes and rice. Cherries and watermelon for dessert. I’ve weaned the baby so I’m also having a glass of port.
