Beer drinker here as well. Qualified by stating it is usually microbrews that I migrate to. Most commercial beers I don’t care for but will drink if that is what is offered by my host. But a good beer just hits the spot for me, especially if it is cold. My local favorite that I have been enjoying for the last couple of months is Manny’s Pale Ale. It has been here in Seattle for awhile, but my local brewpub out where I live, finally started carrying it.
6 more hours until I can get one though
I do drink wine but it isn’t my first choice. Red if I do drink it though. White wine just doesn’t do it for me at all.
Rarely drink hard liquor but if I do it is a marg or a gin and tonic. I found a gin I really enjoy quite a bit (209 out of San Francisco) but other then that I tend to stay away from hard liquor. I do like shots of Cinammon Whiskey over ice now and again, sort of like melted Red Hots.
I voted beer, though I wish like the various whiskeys/whiskys in your poll, there was some differentiation between types. Even just “American lager” and “other beers” would be enough without going overboard. Though if we really want to break it down, my real vote is for “Belgian ales.”
And a shame for not having multiple choice. Beer (in almost all its varieties) is what I drink most often, so it got the vote. But I currently have 2 single malt scotches, one blended scotch, two Irish, and a bourbon on hand, so some form of whisk(e)y could have been a valid choice, as I’ll have a glass or two of something in a typical week. Vodka is my most mixed spirit. And I have about 30 bottles of wine between a rack in the kitchen and one in the basement.
Hard cider, dry or dry-ish, not the sweet crap they make here and in Sweden. I guess that stuff is rare in USA, can’t remember seeing any mention of it in any American sources. Wines are also ok, but anything with higher alcohol content than that just tastes like chemicals to me, no matter how high quality it is. I might be able to down one shot of 12-year old whiskey if I do it fast, but if I start sipping I can’t finish it.
Oh, and Irish Cream is yummy, but that stuff isn’t meant for serious drinking.
Port…and only vintage ruby at that…is the only alcohol I thorooughly enjoy, so that’s what I voted.
As that is rarely found anywhere social, vodka would be my second choice; however, I can’t stand any booze straight, including vodka, no matter what flavour it is, so… vintage port’s my choice as the only alcohol I actually enjoy straight up.
Ok, plum wine is nice, too, and most dessert wines, but still.
Gimme a Graham’s vintage cellar and I’d happily never drink any other booze again.
