I have to write this:
Ask the Guy who is not into casual sex
I’m half-joking.

I, too, would love to see an Ask the Peace Corps Volunteer thread…
in addition to the thread started by Kyla in Bulgaria (linked to by Boyo Jim a couple of posts ago), there was also one by our other current Peace Corps Doper, even sven, who is in Cameroon. Since even one of Europe’s poorest countries is much wealthier than any sub-Saharan country except South Africa, their day-to-day experiences are very different.
Former Doper autz had a thread titled Ask the (returned) Peace Corps Volunteer back in 2003.

Ask the person who works in a brewery would be a fun thread.

August West is Quality Assurance Lab supervisor for a major midwestern regional craft brewer. Since he seems to rather enjoy his job, perhaps he could be enticed into starting an “Ask the…” thread.

I’d love to see a “Ask the prison doctor from Minnesota” thread.
[At the risk of being whooshed or spoiling the joke] AFAIK, the SDMB doesn’t have a prison doctor from Minnesota. Would Wisconsin suffice?
I would do “Ask the person who used to work in a mental institution,” but I was only there for < 1 year, and even though I had a VERY interesting patient population (adults with schizophrenia), I didn’t have a lot of patient contact.
Nowadays, I could do “Ask the person who does cancer research,” I suppose. I did answer in a thread that was something to the effect of “How do people work in Oncology?” There were plenty of more experienced people who got there first, so…
My husband is a novelist, though, and I have tried to get him signed up, to no avail. And my best friend ran for public office twice, but I doubt he’d be up to posting on a message board about it. Hmmm. I’ll work on it.

I am definately qualified for this one.
Any interest in it?
Other than Doug?
Ask the person who made an appearence on a talk show…I’ve just always wanted to know why.
ask the criminal psychologist or anyone with extensive knowlege on the subject

I’d like to see an “Ask the person who served on a submarine.”
Have we had an, “Ask the person who lived in the USSR?” thread?
I think Eva Luna was something of a Russia/Easten Europe wonk - don’t think she ever mentioned living in the USSR, but she had some good threads on her trips to former soviet states.
By the way, is she still around here?
I wanna know what your location means!
Anaamika: I spend a majority of my non-dope time touring the nation in a not-at-all profitable band called Birdmonster (shameless screen name? Of course). When I’m on the dope, I’m at a straight job somewhere, freshly showered, eating home cooked meals. In other words, I’m not in a van. And after 6 straight weeks and over 10,000 miles (a typical tour), that’s something to be thankful for.
Well, I could start a Ask The Auto Insurance Agent Thread, but somehow I don’t see that going anywhere.
I could also do **Ask The Natural Redhead ** but I don’t know how many questions you could ask about that.

Hmm, did not know this. I choose to plug the hell outta you. As well as maybe learn some new tidbits about others.

Come now, we both know what some wit’s very first question would be! ![]()
Yes, but do we really need a thread where every single question is, “cite?” ![]()
I don’t know if it’s been mentioned, but how about Ask the college admissions officer?
Just this morning I was saying to my partner that I’d love to see an “Ask the Animal Control Officer” thread on SD.

I don’t know, you might give it a shot. A few potential questions come to mind…
[ul]
[li]What’s the stupidest accident claim you’ve ever heard of?[/li][li]How does the recent glut of insurance advertising affect your business (Geico, Progressive, eSurance, etc.)[/li][li]What kind of car carries the highest premiums? What would a Porsche cost to insure?[/li][/ul]
So many of these seem really interesting.
I wonder if there should be a thread where people come in to say what they could offer in an “Ask the…” capacity.
That way people could browse it and see what’s available. Sometimes you don’t know what you want to see until you know what’s there

I think it would be interesting, for sure.
