I’m getting ready to make some rocky road ice cream, but when I look up the ingredients list, there seems to be a question about what kind of nuts goes into it. What do you say? Walnuts, almonds, or something else?
And I hate rocky road because of the almonds. I don’t like nuts in or on ice cream, they’re too hard. Ice cream is supposed to be creamy. Hot fudge, bananas, berries all good - not nuts.
The someone there got it in one. Often done as a Tin Roof sundae. My mom put about a half cup of peanuts on them. At the point they become high protein-we could call them supper.
Walnuts are what is in the well-known local brand. I don’t eat nuts in ice cream unless I add them myself. I hate it when they get mushy. Rocky Road is a big offender in this area.
Rocky Road is my favorite ice cream flavor. I love almonds, which is what both Häagen-Dazs and Baskin Robbins use, but when I was a kid we only got ice cream at Friendly’s – and they had Rocky Road with peanuts (which I also love). I’ve never seen it anywhere else, but I chose “other” because peanuts were in the first Rocky Road I ever had.
