Oh, Soda was cool, but I preferred the sweet one, Johnny.
Elizabeth Bennet “Pride and Prejudice”. I usually fall in love with disgusting little pricks.
Clarice Starling from Silence Of The Lambs
Harris’ treatment of her in Hannibal was so wrong. What a crapfest!
(I can’t believe I actually admit that!)
Years and years and years ago I fell in love with Raistlin Majere.
YES!!! Dragonlance… . I know it’s sad - but it’s true… . (I’m hopeless!!! )
These days I fancy Severus Snape from Harry Potter… .
I am REALLY hopeless!!!
Oh and how could I forget Garp! Once upon a time I fell HOH for “Victor” from Toronto who reminded me of Garp. Key largo eh! And much much later The World According to… was on my bedstand both times I got pregnant!
I’m definitely with Johnny, too. He was so SWEET.
But, all time falling in love? Holden Caulfield, hands down. The Catcher In The Rye was not only an amazing book, but Holden’s character was so complex, and perfect. Perfect.
cagiva650 we are totally on the same wavelength. I can’t believe I didn’t mention Garp either. “…some muscular prick who can cook,” eh? I think I fell in love with John Irving because I imagine he IS Garp.
You even registered on my birthday!
Winnie the Pooh.
(No, not that way, damn it!)
How could anybody not love him?
A-freakin-men! However, I think that I fell for him after seeing Gary Sinise play him in the miniseries. Then, upon re-reading the book, did I get more of the “in-love” with the character.
I’m an Anne Rice junkie and I adore most of her male characters. Lestat, Louie and Lasher are my favorites though. (I must just like characters with L names too.)
And call me a sickie but I had a crush on Dr. Lecter from Silence of the Lambs. But I think it’s more Anthony Hopkins than Dr. Lecter himself…Oh who cares, he’s still an old man! I’m still a sickie!
Aaaah, yes, Holden is another hottie!
I like Armand, the vampire…
Hmmmmm so many possibilities.
First off, I definitely agree with Jamie Fraser of the Outlander books and Heinlein’s Lazarus Long (thing for redheads I guess).
But then again, blondes are great too… I recently read Kushiel’s Dart and Kushiel’s Chosen by Jacqueline Carey - all I can say is Joscelin Verreuil. Hot damn.
A certain someone has me ‘Happy as Harry’ and wishing I was 12 again.
Well, not so much the one form the book, more the one from the film. She’s sooo cute. And has an extremely likeable personality and expressiveness.
And, to clarify (because of the OP Subject line) It’s not Love it’s adoration.
John’s mother in A Prayer for Owen Meany is beautiful (Owen says “SHE HAS THE BEST BREASTS OF ALL THE MOTHERS”), smart and a wonderful person. She takes the cake. Nobody beats John’s mother. If we’re going on pure hotness, Sally from Catcher in the Rye and Ismene from Jean Anhouilh’s Antigone seemed to be pretty damn hot.
Your birthday is 10/10?
Mine is 5/5! A friend out of the blue showed up with two conch shells for a present and I found Tom’s’s copy of skinny legs. So now I’m reading about ConchShell, spoon sock and can o’ beans and that sweet gal Ellen
Its all flowing
Vetinari from the Discworld books.
Maurice (Maurice, E. M. Forster)
Raistlin (Dragonlance series)
Lestat de Lioncourt (Vampire Chronicles, Anne Rice)
Mrs Furthur here. Actually I’m totally in love with two
Lindsey Davis characters: Marcus Didius Falco and Lucius
Petronius. Oooh. Petro is so bad and so good. Marcus really
knows how to love a woman.
And of course I have a crush on Captain Carrot, too. What
girl wouldn’t?
Oh yeah, and I forgot. Other fictional men Mrs Furthur wouldn’t
kick out of bed/would drag into bed:
Trooper Jim Chopin & Liam Campbell from the Dana Stabenow
novels.
Joe Morelli and Ranger from Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum
novels.
Yum, yum, yum.
For women I would have to go with Kinsey Milhome: Pi of the Alphabet Murders from Sue Grafton. Kinsey is utterly down to earth, upfront and a smeller of bullshit, smarter than most and from her description she sounds pretty cute (and pretty hard to get). Something about a woman like that appeals to me
For a guy (in a strictly good pal sense) I got to go with Roland the Gunslinger from the Dark Tower Series. He is a interesting mix of a noble knight from the past and a ancient soul. I think I would be a happy part of his quest (even though I may die)
