SimFarm should be remade. This is one of the greatest games of all time.
You are aware the sequel’s out?
http://www.telltalegames.com/samandmax
It’s being released in episodes.
Apparently Bungie has a filthy sick new engine for Halo 3. Just wanted to throw that out there.
As for a game that I want to be remade, I’d like to see Syndicate and Shadowrun redone. I know Shadowrun has been done over and over and over again, and it’s just coming out for the 360, but possibly never as good as it did on the Super Nintendo.
E-Sabbath and St_Ides:
Yes, quite aware of the current Sam and Max games. In fact, my daughter (age 7) playing through them made me go and find SCUMMVM so I could show her the original.
Good as the new ones are, they’re not as good as the original.
Not a remake, more of a reimplementation, but look up Ur-Quan Masters at http://sc2.sourceforge.net/
I’ve also wanted to see Car Wars redone as a MMO Driving Combat Game. So I may have to look into Auto Assault.
I agree with wanting to see Archon remade, with the latest in graphics, piece vs. piece combat, etc. And definitely a much better AI; I normally wore the computer down to four remaining pieces, after which I simply took and held the power points. (There were 5 spaces on the chess-like board that had power points, one on the midde of each edge and one in the center square. A piece on a power point could not be affected by magic spells cast by either ‘king’; if a player had a piece on all five points, they won.)
Archon was being worked on by a fan, but the project apparently fell through. Wkipedia has a blurb that someone may have picked up the project tho-we shall see. Sure was a fun game.
•I’d say Maniac Mansion, but they’d probably just screw it up.
•(I’m probably going to have to just build a fake “pitch” webpage for SimEarth 2, one o’ these days, that I could link to every time a thread like this comes up. It’d save time, and have pretty pictures.)
•Spaceward Ho! Actually, this one’s still in-print. It’s basically the same game it’s always been since the mid-90s, but runs on modern systems. And it’s still $30. Yeah.
•Nightmare Creatures, from the N64/PS1. Lovely atmosphere, and you get to use a flintlock. Who doesn’t love flintlocks?
Actually, I agree. SimFarm was the Sim game I lost myself in for hours.
I loved to starve the sheep and watch them break through a gate in desperation to get food.
I’ve seen this in stores but wasn’t sure what it was about. I’ll have to check out that free trial…
I always thought that Tyrian would have been awesome on Dreamcast–but then, I loved the Dreamcast and I loved Ikaruga. I’d like to see Tyrian on the 360 now. Come to think of it, I’d like to see Ikaruga on the 360.
And I know it hasn’t been that long, but Jedi Knight II could stand to re-enter the gaming world, even as Jedi Knight III. Still one of my all-time favorite LAN games.
Wing Comander 2.
I know you said original team but there is a fan group slowly restoring all the lost content they found on the disk if you’re curious it’s HERE if you check their progress report page they’ve solved over 766 issues with their mod and have only 49 left. They also have a few videos on that page showing restored scenes that look great.
I used to play Archon constantly as a kid, and it was always fun, though eventually I got to the point where I had even my pawns all on light squares and a couple times defeated the computer without losing a single piece. I’d like to see Archon or even just anything in that style of thinking game plus action game.
Racing Destruction Set
Stunt Island (I hardly ever see this game mentioned anywhere)
Big Red Racing
I don’t think MULE really needs remade, unless it’s to add Internet multiplayer.
So, did someone want an Auto Assault trial key? I can get 'em, no problem.
It’s funny how the scope of that series kept shinking.
Save the world!
Save the ocean!
Save a city!
I got one from their website.
110% agreement.
I loved X-Com. I recognized TFTD as what it was, but still played it through a bunch.
Apocalypse seemed stupid and silly to me.

Thirding Racing Destruction Set! Also, a single-player or networked version of AutoDuel would be cool, for those of us not too into the MMO thing.
Finally, Mail Order Monsters, a great game where you had to build and customize a monster and then have it go fight another monster (or try to repel the HORDE). It had its flaws, but it was still very cool, at least until you got to Sluggo.
I’ve use the term Beast-Fu as recently as 3 years ago.
Only technically a PC game (there was a PC version). I’d love to see a remake of Final Fantasy VII with updated graphics. It was an amazing game, but the vast difference between the battle/fmv models and the world models is/was jarring in it’s current incarnation.
