My wife and I are having a minor disagreement and we know the StraightDope is the only place to get a definative unbiased answer.
She contends that any amount of oral attention is a blowjob while I am of the opinion that the illustrious title is only deserved if the recipient achieves orgasm.
Thus we present to the largest and most diverse collection of oral artists and cunning linguists outside the Chicken Ranch the opportunity to settle this days long debate.
I have divided the poll along the male/female line to find out if there is any significant difference of opinion based on chromosomes.
It’s prep work, as stated before, unless orgasm is achieved.
Also, a hand job with the occasional lick or suck doesn’t count as a blow job. It counts as a piss poor way to spice up a hand job, making me think I’ll get filet when all you deliver is ground chuck. Tsk tsk.
I mean, if I just smooch! kiss the tip, no it isn’t a blowjob. But if I put a dick in my mouth, he got blown, whether he came or not (he did). Is putting your cock in her not sex if you don’t come? That is just stupid.
If two people had vaginal intercourse for a while then stopped and she finished him off by fellating his member until orgasm then they had vaginal intercourse for a while followed by a blow job. They’re all sex. I can’t think of a good colloquial word for “intercourse to orgasm” that parallels blow job. But if there were such a word, say, twat job, and you had intercourse with someone but didn`t orgasm, then yes I’d say you did not have a twat job. The job was not done!
Even if it’s part of foreplay and is followed by “real” sex?
Does my husband think most of my blow jobs are lousy because they’re part of the build-up to us having sex?
Male here. I don’t make the distinction between “oral action” and"blow job." Probably because I’m one of those guys who almost never (3 or 5 times over last 30 years) reaches orgasm through oral. I get superb oral action almost daily, and I’m going to continue to view that as receiving very frequent, and much appreciated, blow jobs.
I can see, however, the utility of the distinction for the rest of you. Carry on.
