And through it all, we survived. You have no idea how many times people have predicted the kind of crap you are now. “Ooooh, things are worse than EVAR!!! The republic is going to fall!!! It’s the end times!!!”

I fully agree with you, but you missed one of my benchmarks: We used to have right-wing paramilitary death squads performing extra-judicial executions in this country. We called them the Ku Klux Klan and they were especially active in the 1920s. They were broken in the 1960s Civil Rights Era, when the Federal government effectively took over prosecution from the complicit state and local governments, but the last big resurgence was in the 1920s, a period we usually associate with peace and prosperity in this country.

So as bad as the alt-right is, a few murders and a bunch of suburbanites waving Tiki torches around doesn’t compare to a well-known “secret” society that was lynching people and bragging about it.

I strongly doubt Asahi or Huey are Russian, their syntax and word-choice are too American. They are native or very long-time English speakers at least. If they are part of a Kremlin strategy to sow discord, it isn’t working. They managed to unite all but 4 or 5 of the board in rejecting Huey’s particular strain of assholery. I know I’ve found myself agreeing multiple times in these threads with people I don’t ever otherwise agree with. If Huey (and Asahi, for that matter) are in fact employed so, I hope this doesn’t screw with their continued employment. I think, however, they are just people with trollish tendencies. Short of them going full blown troll, though, that is no reason to ban them. The above quoted statement by Bone perfectly, yes perfectly, argues why.

You forgot the accusation that in addition to being an Oymyakon native, I’m also crowd sharing my account with others. It reflects the reflexive anxiety that occurs when people of color enter white spaces. When I first joined, I referred to Grand Dragon Shodan as female, when it was brought to my attention that ‘she’ was a ‘he’, I ceased misgendering Grand Dragon Shodan. No questions were asked and I took Grand Dragon Shodan at his word that he identifies as male just as I took Uncle Bricker’s word that he identifies as a person of color. In contrast, people of color are not given the benefit of the doubt by white folks. We are assumed to be liars, hustlers, and frauds. You can sit there and shake your head if you want to. You don’t have to look at yourselves in the mirror because history reflects the hypocrisy for you. Because I know you don’t know much about African-American history or how cruel white folks are to people of color, but you will be reminded today that the poetry of Phyllis Wheatley was assumed to be fraudulent because white folks didn’t believe a person of color to have the intelligence and creativity to write with beauty. Not everyone is a sock, crowdsharing their account, or working for the Internet Research Agency. It’s paranoia and pathetic, and your inability to exhibit basic trust or give others benefit of the doubt doesn’t portend well for the country.
