What TV series would you like to see come back?

That’s a pretty neat idea. Maybe American TV could get away from mostly 30 and 60 minute shows and just make the shows as long as they need to be. You’d have certain anchors like the nightly news. Then any empty intervals could be filled with Looney Tunes or other short films like YouTube has.

The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd was one of my all time favorite programs. It was a comedy/drama, somewhat whimsical. Unavailable now in any format, I had several episodes on VHS tapes, and I nearly cried when I threw them out. (Her baby she had at the end of the series must be 20-something or more by now.) . But that was in a New York that is no more, could such a delicate show be made, now?

How about Wagon Train? I had a great scenario for an updated Wagon Train series a couple years ago.

The studios would probably set the reboot of Wagon Train in outer space and that idea would very stupid.

I thought of another series I’d like to see return; The Soup, on E! with Joel McHale. Few of the scripted shows that have been revived managed to match the quality of the original runs, but The Soup never had any quality (aside from being funny) so I think it could easily be revived.

Gene Roddenberry probably would argue with you if he were still alive.

I think he was ‘being funny’ because real fans know Star Trek has often been referred to as Wagon Train To The Stars.

Batman and original Star Trek used to be shown on cable Saturday nights, we watched it then for so long that since they aren’t being shown any more, our miserable lives are hardly worth living.

I scanned the thread and I don’t think I saw any mention of The Wire.

So, The Wire.
mmm

If you think that Michael was the moral center of the show I don’t think you got the point of the show.

Hint: it was Edith.

They did that. McHale’s show on Netflix was very Soup-like. It didn’t last.

As mentioned, he is reprising his role in the inimitable Legends of Tomorrow, but he’s also voicing the character in the animated Constantine: City of Demons.

I saw this and realised it’s already been done, but it made me think “What about the A-Team?” No, they did that too. They’re meant to be working on a reboot of the reboot of Battlestar Galactica, I’ll just wait for that.

Back in the early 80s there was this show called Voyagers, which I loved. This time traveller and his sidekick go to different eras in history and right wrongs etc.
What with the advances in TV and special effects being what they are, I believe a revamp of this series is long overdue.

Put me down for American Gothic as well. I was really getting into that series when it was cancelled…I was bummed. :frowning:

The Time Tunnel. If brought back now, they could visit the 70’s and get involved in the Watergate break-in, or meet Trump in the 80’s, or get stuck in Manhattan just before 9-11. I’d love to see Doug and Tony grapple with recent history.

ABC’s 2015 reboot of The Muppet Show

Cancelled because of low ratings blamed on “depressing” (i.e. "adult) story lines and showrunner problems, both of which can be fixed. A lousy Sunday night timeslot didn’t help much either.

I MISS UNCLE DEADLY !!! :frowning:

I’d love to see Galavant come back too but Timothy Omundson is still recovering from a stroke, and it just wouldn’t be Galavant without King Richard.

Another vote for Rome too - “Lucious” Vorenus and “Tight-Ass” Pullo are one of my very favorite bromances. Even “The Further Adventures of Pullo And Son” would be acceptable.

Obviously, that should be “Luscious” - sorry! Missed the Edit window.

With Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers, Trevor Noah, John Oliver and a host of others, I think the mockable moments of the weekly news are already pretty well covered.

Although it pretty much ran it’s course over 22 episodes, I’d like to see The Grinder come back for another season. I thought Lowe, Savage and Devane were great together.

The Meeting of Minds hosted By Steve Allen was an interesting concept for a show. Steve Allen would interview historical figures(such as Plato, Martin Luther, and Thomas Jefferson) as portrayed by various actors. Though I’m not sure how much actual interest there would be to the general public.

I think it could work well, the new Colt Seavers could be one of the few remaining stuntmen who did real stunts, and of course still the bounty hunting on the side.

The Outer Limits

I never saw the 1995 reboot, but the original 1963 series was an excellent sci-fi, horror, fantasy anthology show.

They should use the original story lines and just update them with modern, limited-CGI special effects.

Although, it would be hard to make a more terrifying monster than this one (warning, don’t click link if you suffer heart problems)!

I had a nightmare and peed the bed after watching this episode at age 6 (…and again when I was 48 :o).

I’d love a return of Alias, with Sydney & Vaughan’s grown daughter now an agent (as was hinted at in the series finale). Heck, throw their son in too, and make them a brother/sister team. Maybe Vaughan or Dixon is their handler, and when Sydney finds out, she’s furious that they would endanger her kids when all she wanted to do was get out of the life. Michael Vartan and Carl Lumbly don’t seem to be doing much these days.

Just spitballing…there are SO many ways they could go.
