What was this stuff I used to eat?

My great grandmother was a wonderful cook and she introduced me to all kinds of great food such as lox, tabouleh, dolmas and (my personal favorite) kibbi nayye.

She also made some sort of cheese. I don’t remember what it was called and I only vaguely remember what was in it but I figured if anyone could help me out it would be a doper.

I seem to recall her taking cottage cheese (?) and mixing it with just a few ingredients then pressing it through a cheese cloth. She would end up with a round about 1 1/2 inces thick. It was soft and creamy with no visible spices.

Does anyone know what this is called?

Could it be this?

It uses yogurt rather than cottage cheese, but I don’t see why you couldn’t use either one.

I will have to try that recipe and see how it turns out. The stuff she made was a little more stiff than cream cheese but I suppose that would come from hanging longer.

Thanks for the recipe.
