What We Do In The Shadows Season Four Discussion

I started the thread last year for season 3, so I thought maybe I’d do the same this time, so we aren’t saddled with bumping an old thread with an inaccurate title.

I’ve seen the first two episodes of the season, and am enjoying it a lot. I think this will be Nadja’s season (and I always love interaction with the Nadja doll).

Very curious to see if Colin Robinson will re-emerge as something like his old character, or whether he might turn out to be really different!

And I’m very happy that Kristen Schall’s character has been given more screen time; i’ve enjoyed her since Flight of the Conchords lo these many years ago.

The old Season Three thread

One thing about Nadja… Was this the first time her “super scream” was demonstrated? She’s certainly yelled a lot through the series. That’s practically her regular volume level. (That, and hissing.)

I’ve only seen the first episode, but I note that in the opening credits (with photos) his photo still appears the same as he looked in past seasons.

Fully expecting to see the creature that crawled out of dead Colin Robinson’s chest will eventually be exactly the same as we remember Colin Robinson used to be. Plenty of room for all sorts of antics before that occurs, if it does. Perhaps the Colin Robinson we once knew is simply the result of an energy vampire’s life of sucking the energy from dull people.

Will “New Colin” think of Laszlo as his dad?

I noticed in the credits that the Sklar twins were in the most recent episode - two more actors that were also in Better Call Saul.

I was whelmed at best by the first two episodes of this season, but liked the third. The creature that crawled out of the corpse of Colin Robinson is great, and so is the Djinn.

Agreed, though it kind of took a random turn at the end there.

And I would totally watch a spin-off based on the Djinn!

Nadia packing Guillermo extra Pedialyte was surprisingly thoughtful.

Wow, Guillermo really didn’t think think that dinner party through. Aside from the DNA thing where did he think Nadia and the girls were?

I suppose Gizmo could get a bit nervous and distracted when dealing with his family resulting in out of character logistics failures.

It’s only Nadja as the remaining vampire in the house, and I see it as not too unreasonable to assume she went on the trip. Just like she assumed Guillermo had.

OTOH Lazlo’s jibe about Nandor’s having left to find himself seems off given he did a similar thing in a previous season.

Well vampires aren’t able to look in mirrors …

Laszlo in particular is really bad at introspection, and I think hypocrisy is a core part of his identity (his “charm” I suppose).

If anything was off, it was Nandor not throwing it back in Laszlo’s face.

I notice he addresses him as “Lazzo.”

It’s still not clear if the new Colin Robinson is an energy vampire but they’ve made him just as boring, though with his obsessing on musical theater and Roblox. as kids often are.

I have to think he is, though. I believe it was said that Energy Vampires are born, not made. Wasn’t it?

Aren’t all children basically energy vampires, at least some of the time?
