What ya smokin' in the MMP?

Chicken is in the smoker, steaks are marinating for tomorrow, cupcakes are baked, and FCD is home!!! He’s drugged and in bed. Poor guy said he hardly slept last night. So he’s tucked in and I’ll continue my chores quietly. Because I’m nice, dammit!

I’m sorry, did you need that? I have it all. :smiling_imp:

FCM Happy upcoming birthday for your daughter.

I have the series on DVD and want to re-watch it. It’s been years and my children need to be properly educated.

taters happy birthday to Zoe! Your daughter is smart! I’ve got tons of pictures of the kids, but fewer videos. Organizing things by year is a great idea.

Mooommm Yay for FCD coming home!

Today I have… loaded and started the dishwasher. I’ve scanned the house and decided what I want done. Now I just need elves, er, my children to wake up and make it so.

Today we will have filet and lobster, with champagne, to celebrate my sweetie’s birthday. We thought about going somewhere for a short holiday, but this is a rough weekend to do that. We’re also dodging Delta.

Happy Saturday everyone!

Another (metaphorical) fire in the mez. After this week, I think O the supervisor is gonna shotgun a handle of vodka. Also, there was a one truck accident at the gate. Driver took out the light pole. And the “Days Since Last Accident” sign.

Nah, I only wore a bra the one time.

This morning I actually did {gasp} yard work! I got rid of some unwanted shrubbery* in the back yard, and made the front sidewalk and doorstep look a little more welcoming. And I zapped a few spots in the driveway with RoundUp. Stupid gravel driveway that would become an extension of the front yard if I let it… :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: Afterwards I took a much-needed shower, and have been putzing around online ever since.

*Vague Monty Python reference intended.

Soon, however, it shall be lunchtime. Last night I continued negating celebrating my good lab results by ordering pizza for dinner, so today I get leftovers. Thick crust with pepperoni…yum!!

Have a great day, everyone!

:joy:

Evenin’ all.

Been reading but not retaining- my brain has decided it’s full this week. I’ve done nothing at al today, which has helped somewhat.

Still no housing sorted. I’ve come up with an impressive number of silly backup plans though, so that’s something.

Had a bit of a surprise on Thursday- my brother, who I don’t honestly see all that much of, got messaged me last week saying his new girlfriend wanted to say hi, so we had a zoom call. He’s in his early 40s, and has always said he had no intention whatsoever of having kids, and with all that foreshadowing I’m sure you can complete the paragraph, but I didn’t get the build up, so it caught me by surprise… It’s still early days, so I’m not supposed to tell anyone yet, but you lot don’t count.

The girlfriend seems nice too, which is good (nicer’n the last one- not that I disliked her, I just never managed to get enough out of her to get an opinion one way or the other, though they were together something like 4 years). I think they’ve been friends for ages, even if they only got together a few months ago, so it’s not quite as sudden as it seems from my perspective.

Anyway, please accept assorted hugs, yays, and general apologies for my inability to retain information right now.

You wear pretty, lacy bras?

The cupcakes are frosted. The chicken is out of the smoker, wrapped, and in the freezer for 2 future meals. Critter fountain is clean and refilled. FCD has been up and about and exercising his knee. I’ve got greasy smoker parts in a sink full of hot, soapy water. The rest of the kitchen looks like a disaster. I’ll finish tidying soon.

Whew!

Tomorrow’s b-day dinner will be the steaks, smashed spuds (homemade, not instant!), steamed broccoli, and green beans/onions/'shrooms. I’ll prep everything in the morning so cooking will be quick and easy when it’s time. And apart from cleaning the kitchen, I think I’m done today.

@misnomer I’ve given up on keeping the gravel driveway free of grass. I just mow it now. It’s been reduced to two gravel tracks.

Which reminds me I really otta get outside and do the mowing, but I don’t wanna.

nut Congrats on the pending unclehood.

I have retained very little also. For instance, I’m not clear on what Shoe’s neighbor did to her. I’d be perfectly happy to attend the public beating however, but I can’t take part. The judge was quite clear on that point.

I made a big batch of mango curry last night, but we left the leftovers on the counter to cool and forgot about it overnight. Not sure if we dare eat it for dinner tonight or not.

In a few I’m gonna shower and get dressed. Need to walk to the post office again. The company who makes my cardiac device transmitter, that sits on my bedside table, was supposed to send me a new transmitter part this week and it was supposed to be here Thorsday or Firday. I walked down there both day and it wasn’t there. If they sort mail today it might be there this morning, though it won’t make any diff. there won’t be anybody there to receive the transmission until Toosday anyway.

Yeah and I should mow the front yard today.

Kind thoughts for Wifey, please. Her back is completely out. Has been for 2 days.

Good afternoon! Last evening I got a phone call from my daughter’s BFF, who had obviously been crying. She and her hubs had driven over from the other side of the state for a weekend getaway in Seattle. Their hotel reservations fell through, and other hotels were booked, so my daughter said, “Call Mom!” T drove down last night and are spending the weekend, though they’ll mostly be doing the tourist thing in Seattle.

I didn’t have much on hand, and when they got here at 9:00, restaurants were closing. So I made aglio e olio, and some salad, and that worked. They’re off to Seattle for the day. I’m going to do an Instacart order. I’m thinking dinner will be Italian sausages sauteed with peppers and onions on hard rolls, cole slaw, and homemade cookies. And chips. Not sure when they’ll be back, and I’m exhausted --We were up until 2 a.m. talking–so I need to be smart and not over-plan.

So glad FCD is doing well. Are the pain meds keeping him pretty comfortable? The birthday dinner sounds yum.

bumba, kind thoughts re: wifey’s back are en route. I hope it eases up soon.

nut, congrats on the impending uncle-hood. I won’t tell a soul. (And I do too count. Just now I counted 8 eggs in the fridge.)

Well, not to work. I think UPS requires brown twill.

Well then, brown twill would require pale pink or aqua lacey unders. Howszat going for you doggio?

{ {{{ bumba’s wifey }}}}

I can’t take the mud (on rainy days) when the driveway gets too grassy. And even though gravel is a pain in the ass to shovel snow off, I think grass is worse. So, twice a season I go out there with the RoundUp. I swear this is the last place I’ll live in that doesn’t have a paved driveway (and a garage).

I’m a renter; I’ve lived in my house for seven years. A few years ago the driveway got to the point where there was hardly any gravel left, so in the fall I emailed the property manager and asked for it to get some attention. He had some guys come out and re-gravel it, and when they were done it looked terrific! I was really happy with it until early spring, when I realized that they hadn’t used any kind of weed barrier. {sigh}

Afternoon all. Soccer Weekend #3 is complete, nothing but 1-sided games today (the 10U game I refereed was 8-0, my girls 8U team won 11-3, the boys 8U lost 0-9 and the boys 12U, not to be outdone, lost 1-10). Have my feet propped up and from the way that they are feeling, I really don’t want to move too much. Still, my work is done.

Like some others, I need to mow the lawn Sunday, will see what timing works best. Laundry is also on the schedule for the early part of next week.

VanGo and Oopsie, I have a concrete driveway, but the number of cracks in it seem to be growing, so I’m thinking about replacing it in a year or two.

Bumba, kind thoughts have been forwarded.

nellie, sometimes I think you’re just too nice, but that was a good thing you’ve done. Hope the compensate you for the time and effort you’re putting in.

nut, congrats on the expentance news. They going to name it after you??

FCM, glad FCD is home and doing well.

And that’s all the energy I have left. All ya’ll take care, it’s nappage time now.

Hey, metal mouse, how did you and your place come through all the Ida rain and water?

Since you caught me in time…

Not badly, there was a modest amount of flooding (streets, not houses) and we couldn’t practice soccer Mon-Wed, but things are dry now and no problems.

Now I’m really going to log off…

Howdy Y’all! We ate. We drank. We made merry. Much silliness ensued around the cee-mint pond. Everyone is gone now, the kitchen is tidied and major chill/sloth mode is now on. 'Twas a nice day. Hawt but less hyoooooomid than usual for these parts.

Yay for FCD bein’ home!

Nuts conga rats on the impendin’ aunthood. Y’all Nuts has innie not outie parts.

Bumba hope wifey is better now. I remember meetin’ her lo these many years ago and really liked her. Oh, and you.

not that I’m one to pay attention to a whole lot but isn’t nuts female?

Anyway today is a great day as aunt had an unexpected night of romance after an earlier incident and well the afterglow has calmed her a bit … that and we’ve got somewhat good news on house financing? so the mood is lightened up quite a bit from the last week or two

quick question kitty isn’t feeling well today … I think it hurts when she walks is there anything OTC I can give her?

We had a spot in between our driveway and the neighbors that had a tree until It had to be cut down well when the house next door was sold they asked put woodchips in so it would look better our owner said it was a bad idea but wasn’t gonna stop then … so they put these nice looking wood chips but 2 things happened 1 being the weeds came back and 2 it was the year it rained enough to break a 4-year drought so it became a big pile of buggy mold and they had to pay a small fortune for the cleanup…

Apologies to nuts “Filbert” just sounded like a male name akin to Dilbert.

Decided to not mow the lawn today, didn’t wanna. I’ll get to it tomorrow (he lies). But did get some quality porch time since it wasn’t a brazillion degrees.

Amazingly, he’s taking what he should when he should. The nurses convinced him that he gains nothing by skipping doses. I’ve got alarms set for 11 and 5 (AM and PM) since they’re all either every 6 or every 12 hours. And we’re keeping him iced. And he flexes the knee a lot and gets up and walks periodically.

Found out the BIL that I can’t stand is supposed to be visiting his folks the same time we were planning to. FCD and I are agreed - if he and his wife aren’t vaccinated, we’re not going. They live in Texas and they’re right-wingers, so there’s a good chance they didn’t get shot. If that’s the case, we’ll visit when they’re not there.

Tahred… It’s been a busy day. But I can’t sleep with Mel - I have to be awake to dose him at 11 tonight. And again at 5 tomorrow. yawn
