What ya smokin' in the MMP?

Happy Hump Day!

It’s a very rainy 68 degrees outside.
We have some road closures and flash flood warnings.

My son is disappointed, as they were supposed to have a snowball night last night, but it was cancelled due to rain.

Got the dogs off to daycare. It was yukky as the water in the daycare parking lot was up over my ankles. In more yuckiness, Adam left us a dead rabbit on the back porch.

Good day to stay inside.

My son has to irk two overtime days this week, and is probably going to have to irk Labor Day. It’ll make for a nice paycheck, but I know he’d rather have the time off.

I got a weird email this morning. Somebody said they found my information on Indeed, and would like me to pet sit for them. I was never on Indeed, and I gave up pet sitting at least 8 years ago. And, I never used email for correspondence.
I don’t know if I should respond or not, as I don’t know if it is legit or not.
I sent off an email to Indeed asking them how they got my information and how do I remove it. I can’t even find me out there.

Roxy looks adorable!

My son took so long to potty train. Then one day he decided that was it, no more pullups, and he was done. Never had an accident either. Kind of like getting him to give up the bottle. One day he decided no more bottle, and he was done. I think some kids are just stubborn that way. They have to do things on their own terms.

I think this sums her up exactly. And it’s nicer than saying she’s pig-headed!

Out of curiosity, how old was he? After all, we’ve got a boy on the way…

I think he was about 4.
I know he wore pullups to preschool and pre-k, but they never had to change him. He’d hold it until he got home.
Then one day he pulled his pullup off, said I don’t need these anymore, and threw it in the trash.
One day he held out his bottle and said I don’t need this anymore, and threw it in the trash.

I don’t think it’s gender related though. My older niece potty trained herself by 18 months. Before that, she would go get a diaper, grab somebody by the hand, and lay on the floor to be changed. My sister let her run nude from the waist down because the biggest problem was my niece couldn’t pull her pants down fast enough and would get upset and start to cry. She also emptied her own potty, and if you tried to do it, she would grab the pot and fling it on you. She was always very determined to do everything for herself.
My younger niece took forever to potty train.

Roxy is such a sweetheart, FCM!

Best of luck to you at work, Taters. I hope things get cleaned up and slowed down soon.

It’s grey and lovely right now and smells like rain from last night/early this morning. Kids are off to school, husband is generally awake and in the shower. My first meeting is just a read-out, so mostly I have to sit on the call. There are a couple of things on fire, but I’ve done what I can to put the fires out and am waiting on others to help.

I need to make sure I get my run in today (I didn’t do it yesterday). My knees and left hip are throbbing and it’s bad enough to keep me awake at night. I think I might need to see a doctor because the pain flares up more quickly than it used to, but it’s still kept at bay with exercise. I swear, the doors have really fallen off after hitting my mid-40s. Oh, well - there’s a fix for now.

That’s crazy! She was just a baby a minute ago!

You and me both.

He loves you. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Pixel seems to be doing better, but he still won’t eat kidney food. I have to order new kidney food a case at a time. I think the vet will take back anything unopened, but I need to check. This stuff is not cheap.

Here we are, up and waiting for the bus. I got my son a hotspot for the bus. It took several hours to get it working right. The sim card wasn’t synching to the network correctly. ugh

Last night we ended up having Pollo Loco for dinner. It was good. I try to mimic their marinade sometimes. I’ve gotten it close, but not exactly right. Tonight - maybe that lamb I need to cook. We shall see.

Stay dry out there everyone. Happy Wednesday.

So the answer is, no I will not be going to the shop and be productive. Oil change took a little longer than expected, so I wouldn’t be getting there until 11. Add in lunch and then it doesn’t make sense to drive half an hour each way for a few hours of work. Plus there’s road work with a flag man on the way.

At least that’s what I’m telling myself.

Morning all. I can see clearly now, the rain is gone (now, get that tune out of your head today!!). No soccer practice on Wednesday, so will try to be productive around the house.

VanGo, seems like a reasonable decision to me…

Sunny, Taters, glad the pets are doing better. And I’ve had some days like that, Taters…where you kinda wish justifiable homicide was a thing,…

FCM, great picture. Hope the Roxstar has fun.

Sari, that is a puzzlement on the e-mail and I concur that not responding is the best thing…see if you get any others.

OK, need to grab some sustenance and do stuff. All y’all take care.

SWMBO asked me to light the pilot light on the furnace. I did. She wants me to put the air conditioner in the shed, but I’m not going to until the weekend.

Ugh Messy, messy, gloomy day
The rain is still coming down strong.

I just looked out front.
See I have a package delivered with no notification, I didn’t know it was coming today.
I pity the person who is out delivering in this mess.
Now I have two giant boxes of dog biscuits. The first box was delayed, and the dogs are almost out of biscuits - the horror - so I ordered another box.
It’s not their favorite, but they’ll have to deal until the subscribe and save stuff gets here.

Now that the house is refinanced, I’m working on the truck.
I already have a pretty good interest rate, so I don’t expect this to go anywhere, but it never hurts to ask.
One thing I was surprised to find out, my truck is worth a lot more than I expected. Seems that the supply of used trucks nowhere meets the demand.
No wonder the dealership keeps asking me to bring it in for a trade.
But then I’ll just be buying another truck, which is probably going to cost a lot more too.

That is why I went to look outside. I need to send a picture of the odometer and registration, but I’m not about to walk out to the truck right now. I’ll get the pics when I go to pick up the dogs.

Yesterday we had a literal fire, today we had metaphorical fire. The sorters on 100 all left before all the boxes were loaded, so something like 5 carts of packages didn’t go out. :grimacing: Plus the one dude was giving me grief for putting the building supplies on the building supply cart. And in Smalls, my cow irkers were bickering instead of helping me, so I was doing double work.
Must. Not. Stab. People. With. That. 3 inch. eyebolt.

Well if some ugly old dude showed up at the FairyChat Estates and did nothing but eat your food, scream, and poop on the floor, you’d shoot them.

I don’t recall inviting you over…

And we’re back from seeing our money guy (all is peachy there), picking up FCD’s new specs, and having lunch at Cracker Barrel just because. I’ll be meeting my daughter at her house in about 3 hours to fetch Roxy. And I have a load of towels in the dryer, plus I still want to push the vacuum around. Beyond that, nothing going today. Maybe on the way back from picking up Roxy, I’ll swing thru L-town and see if the Food Lion has Diet Cokes yet.

Then there’s the voice mail telling me to press 1 to be connected with a Federal Agent. I didn’t press 1. Am I in trouble now?? :worried:

It’s clouded over and I think I may have heard some thunder. I guess Ida’s coat tails are here.

I wonder how ginger ale would do?

Some people in Vegas have apparently gotten me confused with some ‘high roller’ (big loser) that has visited there. I got two phone calls yesterday, which I didn’t answer, Complete with voice mails and a text message this morning essentially asking me “when ya coming back to our casino? We miss you.”

We need to make the drive up to The Dalles today to procure supplies, so my turn in the shower is upon me. Ta.

Quite well, as it turns out. So does Dr Pepper.

Is that because you didn’t press 1?

Today’s instalment of Nuts’ Perpetual Housing Chaos (I need a theme song)- the uni finally got back to me- apparently some system glitch meant I didn’t get the email, which should have been sent a few days ago. All that they can offer me is a shared room, which is a whole big pile o’ nope. So much nope. I would rather live in a cupboard under the stairs than share a room.

On the plus side, I discovered that someone I’ve kinda known for ages who’s really nice and really helpful lives literally 15 minutes from the site (I’ve only ever seen him at festivals- turns out he has an actual house, not just a tent- who knew?), who’s given me some contacts to follow up, so I’m not at a complete dead end. In an emergency, it would even be doable to basically commute and stay over for the first month, with the way the timetable works. Pricy, more stupid than I’m used to, but doable.

Well, the RoxStar’s first day of school was interesting. First, they had an unexpected fire drill when the school’s fire alarm went off. Roxy told us the fire truck put out the fire at the school. (They had already emailed the parents about what happened. No fire, just the alarm.) Then later, there was a tornado warning, so all the kids were hustled downstairs to shelter in place. Roxy said they sang songs.

And she came home in a different dress and peed in all the spare unders sent with her… :frowning:

On the drive down there, I got caught in a couple of downpours so severe, I had my wipers on high and I slowed way down, and still I could barely see the lane lines. But on the way home, the roads were practically dry. Weird weather… More to come - this was just a sneak preview.

Coffee has been delivered. Four 2-pound bags each of Community Coffee Dark Roast, Café Special, and House Blend. Still working on the 12-ounce bag of Coffee & Chicory. I think we’re about ¾ through.

Since Wifey, RN is out seeing patients, the driveway was clear. I drove the topless MGB to the Post Orifice to mail some bills, to Rite-Aid to pick up a prescription, to the supermarket for stuff, and to the corner market for a bottle of cabernet sauvignon and a packet of Jack Link beef & pepper jack stix. Came home, and the propane truck was blocking the driveway. Had to wait a minute or two for him to leave. Haven’t opened the bill yet.

I emailed a .pdf of my state COVID-19 vaccination certificate to El Jefe, as vaccinations (or weekly testing) are now a condition of employment.

Speaking of employment… I guess I’d better get back to it.

I’ve been doing little cleaning projects. My sister sent me a wonderful original Victorian oil painting in a gorgeously ornate gilded wooden frame. She was trying to get rid of it–has no idea where it came from. The canvas is tacked right on to the center of the frame, which removes from the back. I’ve never seen that before. It hasn’t been treated well over the years. I’m not sure what to do with it, but I feel blessed to have it.

FCM, Roxy’s photo is wonderful. I love that eager, confident look in her eyes. Sorry she didn’t do so well in the potty department and came home in a different dress, though with all that excitement, who could think about pottying? I got a chuckle out of these and hope you will, too:

A snowball night? Since there’s no snow, how does that happen? Hostess Snoballs???

Throw a pocket this way, wouldja?

nut, sorry about the continuing housing conundrum. It’s crazy how hard it is to find something doable.

May we have a picture of the picture? I love this type of thing.

Moomm my kids came home more than once in different clothes that they left in. If it’s not one thing, it’s another. Paint was involved once, if I recall correctly.

Let’s see if I can remember how to do this, but here’s a try for the slicker pic nellie (a pic of Nelly Belly to nelliebly :stuck_out_tongue: ):

Nelson in a ducky slicker
(looks like I forgot how to post a pic directly)

If you want to cross the river, add Tennessee for a platter and Kentucky for the fried chicken. :stuck_out_tongue:

Moooooom, RoxStar was adorable in that pic. For the floaters, you may want to see a retinopathist. That’s the kind of stuff they specialize in.

Yay for returning Polar and Pixel appetites!

Irked, came home (and didn’t get wet today) and walked Nelson. We’re doing a late start tomorrow, so I don’t have to be in until seven. Yay! I can stay up later than seven thirty this evening!

Stay safe and healthy y’all!
