What ya smokin' in the MMP?

Your chicken and ribs are making me hungry hippy.

Went to irk in the rain, came home in a downpour. I took Nelson out, him in his ducky slicker and me with an umbrella so’s he could at least pee (he knows the rule: we don’t come in until he’s hiked a leg :stuck_out_tongue: ).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Howdy shoe hope your week goes well. I’m blurffy, too. Had to force myself to motivate today, deadlines coming up. Bit didn’t wanna.

I got a pork chop on top of some scalloped N.O.T. in the oven, which was perhaps a bad choice as it’s making the house hot. But I been craving that dish for a while.

T’was a loong day in the shop, making drawers. I probably could have come up with a better way to do these, but it seemed like a good idea. Anyway done with drawer carcasses, now just need to put them on glides in the cabinets…laminate the cabinets…laminate the drawer fronts…build the big map gliders…damn, still a ton to do for these things.

Anyway, stay safe, all!

Howdy Y’all! :musical_note: :musical_note: :musical_note: It’s a rainy day in Jawja. A rainy, rainy, rainy, day in Jawja. :musical_note: :musical_note: :musical_note: It has rained pretty much all day. Good day to be inside and dry!

MOOOOOOM a lemon/lime type soda also works instead of a beer. Of course then, it would be called Sprite or 7Up butt chikin. Anywho, drink or pour off a quarter to a half of the soda and add a couple of your favorite herbs to the can. :musical_note: :musical_note: Parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme :musical_note: :musical_note: are nice, but any herbs ya likes would be good. You can even use a generic lemon/lime soda, but we’ll probably judge if you do. :man_judge: :woman_judge:

We had more lovely, beautiful rain today. This is the best monsoon we’ve had for years. One good monsoon season doesn’t break a 20 year drought, but it really helped knock the fired down out this way.

My friend (who broke both her wrists roller skating, the dumbass) had a bad day today, so we had lunch together and she talked while I nodded my head and mumhmm’d a lot.

She has medical clearance to lift up to 10 lbs and is very excited to learn that she is right in the window to be able to cuddle George. She couldn’t before because she couldn’t lift more than 5 lbs and George hasn’t grown too big for her new weight limit yet, he’s 8 lbs now.

I still haven’t gotten motivated to get out to my shed and start going through my patterns. It’s squishy outside and I don’t have to have it done until the end of October. Technically, I don’t have to do it at all but it would be good to have them go to someone who will use them.

Today’s cardiologist appointment resulted in…two more appointments. {sigh} My ECG was ok and my blood pressure was acceptable (though a touch high), but the doc wants me to have an echocardiogram and do a stress test before she’ll ok me for surgery. Both have been scheduled, and will happen in mid/late September. If I’m smart, I’ll spend the next few weeks using my treadmill. We’ll see.

I just finished dessert, and now I won’t eat anything else for the next 12 hours in preparation for tomorrow morning’s labs. I’m almost at the point where I don’t care what the A1C result is, I just want it to be done…almost. The hours between leaving the lab and getting the results are going to be e n d l e s s. Luckily, work is super busy this week and should be a good distraction.

Speaking of work: Ida has scared off the person I was going to be meeting in person with tomorrow, so I’ll skip the office this week. I’m glad I won’t need to worry about the weather — or my dog being home alone during a storm — tomorrow afternoon/evening, and I’m glad I’ll be home if my A1C isn’t good (I imagine that I’ll need a moment).

In other news, my “nephew” — my best friends’ son — turned 20 today. Twenty!!! I can’t believe it. I swear they just brought him home. We’ll pick a weekend when he’s home from college for me to give him his gifts. I never thought I could love another human as much as I love that kid.

The rest of my night will include finishing this episode of The West Wing, then reading for a bit before trying to fall asleep a little early. I have to leave my house before 8am tomorrow, and that time of day is really not my strong suit. I’ll appreciate any fingers that can be crossed for me! :crossed_fingers:

Do you cut off the top of the can or just pop the tab? I can do lemon-lime. I assume it should be regular and not diet?

We see our finance guy at 10 tomorrow, then we’ll stop and pick up FCD’s glasses. At 3, I will meet my daughter for after school pick up. I need to know the routine since I’ll be picking up Roxy sometimes.

And my daughter’s birthday is Sunday and we’re having them over for dinner and cupcakes. I need to get the cake mix and some veggies for sides. And diet coke is on sale which coincides with us being almost out of it. Not sure if I’ll shop tomorrow or Thursday.

But now, it’s almost bed time… yawn

Rain finally stopped about 5pm, after nearly 24 hours of rain or ‘about to rain’ weather. Hopefully we can start drying out tomorrow. Outside of a long nap it was a fairly slothful day, maybe tomorrow I’ll actually accomplish something.

Oopsie, hope the appointments go well. And happy birthday to your ‘adopted’ nephew.

Nut, glad the car got a clean bill of health; it’s left up to the individual states here in the USA and Ali-bama doesn’t require one.

flyboy, feel for your wife and most medical professionals in the past year or two.

doggio, ordered some new water filters for the refrigerator via Amazon, got some from yesterday and they were for the previous refrigerator I had, which shows how often I change filters…These are due by 3 September, but only weigh a pound or so, so shouldn’t be a strain.

All y’all take care.

That made me laugh out loud, because he actually is adopted.

Napped. Made Redneck Stirfry for dinner. Watching the F1 race rain forecast.

Pop the top. and regular.

: heaves filters 'Bama ward :frowning_face_with_open_mouth:

Turns out the patient died on the 4th, of cancer, after two days in hospice. Mrs. L.A. found out when she called to confirm the appointment for her patient and her husband. The husband told her to come out for his foot care.

I’ve been busy, but not with anything interesting, so let’s skip me this time.

I have never done chicken with a beer or pop can up its hoo-ha, mainly because I don’t have a grill. Does lemon-lime pop give the chicken a discernible citrusy taste? I know there are Coca-Cola marinades and sauces for chicken, so do people use Coke cans?

Oh, please, PLEASE take a picture of him in his ducky slicker sometime and share it! The world would be a better place with that photo in it.

flyboy, I’m sorry about your wife losing her patient. Though it’s part of the job, it must still be tough.

boo, here’s an easy way to remember which states are along the west side of the Mississippi. Get out a map. You’re about to meet MIMAL the elf, who’s on your side (of the Mississippi). Minnesota is his weird hat. Iowa is his face in profile. Arkansas is his chubby little tummy. Louisiana is his boot. That little trick and a few others enabled almost 100% of my students to ID all 50 states on a map. Don’t know if it’ll help someone with a TBI, but can’t hurt!

Oopsie, best of luck on the test tomorrow. I’ll be sending encouraging thoughts to your blood for a good A1C result.

Moooom, surely Roxy won’t be the only kid there who’s not 100% potty-trained. Is she one of those kids who’s so completely focused on what she’s doing that she doesn’t recognize the full-bladder signal until it’s reached Urgent Alert status?

Oopsy, sending good thoughts so your test comes out with a successful result. I understand about the going in and getting more appointments. I hadn’t been to the ophthalmologist since Dec 2018 due to the pandemic. Was supposed to go in Dec 2019 but I put off the appointment and when I was going to call to make the appointment in early 2020, they were only seeing emergency patients. I finally went in early July since I was having a bit of an issue that I didn’t think was that big of a deal. After examining my eyes, my ophthalmologist referred me to another ophthalmologist who specializes in back of the eye and said I must go within a week. That made me think it was serious. The retinal specialist diagnosed macular puckering and had me come back 4 weeks later as he wanted to see if it continued to get worse. That appointment was last Tuesday. It hadn’t gotten worse but he said I need to have my other ophthalmologist who specializes in front of the eye do cataract surgery before he could do the surgery for the macular puckering. So today I had the cataract consult. And received an appointment for 2 weeks hence for measurements. After which the cataract surgery will be scheduled.

Otherwise, I filtered 3 gallons of water today and watched some of the US Open that I dvr’d yesterday. Cheeseburgers and potato salad for dinner.

Good night all.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.
: wanders off humming some Talking Heads :

I think that’s a big part of it. But it seems like she just doesn’t care if she’s wet or poopy. However, daughter discovered the other day that peer pressure has a big effect on her (from an incident at their neighborhood pool) so she’s hopeful that being around others her age will make a big difference. I feel bad not being able to offer any advice, but my daughter was potty trained by the day care staff while I worked…

CatGlove - are you perchance dealing with floaters? I’ve been having them on and off, from fairly large to teensy dots. I don’t have an ophthalmologist and getting in with my optometrist is tough, and on line, I find it can be anything from aging to OMG-eyeball-cancer!!! so I’ve just kinda been rolling with it. But I do know I’ll be needing cataract surgery within a few years, tho the eye doc says not quite yet…

It looks like we’re on the fringe of the fringe of Ida - maybe half an inch of rain today. The worst of it is staying well to the west of us. Just watch - we won’t get anything! I wouldn’t mind a half an inch or so, and I am relieved we’re not in the 2-4" band or worse. I guess we shall see how it goes.

Plans of the day: Meet with Dave at 10, go to Food Lion after, meet to pick up Roxy at 3, start FCD’s surgery prep tonight. Yep, that pretty much sums up my plans so far. I need to push the vacuum around and re-tidy the basement after yesterday. And I’ll start prepping the chickens to be smoked tomorrow. Overall, a pretty chill day, methinks.

Happy Wednesday!!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 73 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 94 and cloudy with a chance of off and on rain all day. Today we shall procure comestibles and, of course, I must needs take care of some church janitor JW duties over to the church house. I also need to finish cleanin’ the grill racks. I took 'em off yestiddy and sprayed 'em with oven cleaner as they are kinda ick. Then I promptly forgot to finish up. DUH! Sup shall be boxed lasagna (don’t judge!), sallit, and cheesey garlic bread.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, alas, alack, and bother, I suppose I shall purtify and don appropriate bein’ about the public attire. Life is just so hard sometimes!

Happy Hump Day Y’all!

Mornin’ all, up, sheveled, off to get an oil change for the truck. Yet to be determined if I go to the shop and be productive afterwards. Gotta come back home after the oil change to fetch the dog either way, and it’ll sure be tempting to not leave the house again.

Good mornin’, y’all.

It is currently 45 degrees with a chance for some drizzle, but an expected high of 71 and partly sunny skies. I am actually wearing a long-sleeved shirt today.

There is nothing too exciting going on here. Polar continues to heal and ate ALL of his boiled chicken dinner last night, licked the bowl clean, and looked for more. I obliged and gave him some more chicken which he scarfed down. Since he was a good boy, he got to have his cheddar bacon doggy ice cream for dessert, which he also gobbled up.

My workday ended in frustration because I had to waste 2.5 hours cleaning up someone else’s mess. I am not supposed to be doing any more purchasing but this yahoo waited until there was 41 cents left in the postal account to tell me he needed more. I was pissed. First, I’ve told this guy before to NOT let things get this low and I told the whole state to make sure everything was topped up by mid-month. Now, I have to scramble to get the funds, and, it’s not money I was counting on spending, so I have to take it from something else. The admin account was jacked up (not my doing, cleaning up from previous set-up) and I had to spend time on the phone with the postage company to get that squared away. I told said yahoo to prepare a purchase request and he said he’d do it within a couple of days. I told him it would be done by this morning or there would be no postage and he’d have to beg another office to send him some. I didn’t use those words (I was more professional), but you get the gist. They are sweeping my funds tomorrow, and I don’t have time for his BS.

I know it seems minor, and normally something like this is just kind of a roll-eye moment for me, but it was just the rotten cherry on top of an already super stressful and busy day, so it just really rubbed me the wrong way.

I really, really, really need to get someone in to replace me in my old position. Right now, I have to I’m doing all the work for my new job plus my old job and it’s just overwhelming. I am struggling to keep up and purchasing is the most labor-intensive part of my old job because of all the associated documentation. Seriously, 10 to 15 supporting documents for the purchase, the purchase request, a purchase log, and a bulk purchase log-all to support ONE stinkin’ purchase. I do not have time for this bullshit. When we’re ordering supplies and equipment I can easily spend seven to ten grand a month. Think about the number of supplies that entails and then each stupid piece of paper that goes with every individual item. Ugh, sorry. I’m getting pissed all over again. I am trying to get this crap all done, along with all the HR, leasing, security, training, data calls, COVID-protocol, policy and planning, and the myriad other parts of my current job. I wouldn’t mind so much if I didn’t have to constantly clean up stuff like the situation described above. I guess I’d mind a little, but I wouldn’t become so miffed.

Ah well, tomorrow is my Friday. There is that. I have an s-ton of stuff to get done today and tomorrow, but I’ll have a four-day weekend.

And so it begins… first day of Pre-K!

Apparently, Papa had a tough time leaving her at school. He’s a mess!

Aw, such a cute picture!

Taters - do you have any control over the eval of your yahoo? Or does he belong to someone else? Either way, I don’t envy you. Ask me why I never wanted to advance beyond working-level engineer…

I should never shop at Food Lion early on the day when a new sale starts. They didn’t have any Diet cokes available, and the signs on the shelves were last week’s 3/$12 rather than this week’s 4/$11. I’ll just go back later, or maybe go to the store in Charlotte Hall. It’s just a little farther away than Leonardtown (in the opposite direction, of course.)

My darling granddaughter nearly engineered my demise. She left the fabric cube that holds her puzzle mat on the floor between the stairs and my laundry room. I went down to throw in a load, and got my feet entangled in the cube, just barely not falling on my face. Rotten kid! :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, they’re cute so you don’t sell them to a passing circus!

We head out in about half an hour to talk to our money guy. Such excitement in my life!
