I am spending this rainy day installing a TV Tuner card in my PC and downloading and installing the software I will need to turn it into a Digital VCR. I shall never miss another episode of Justice League again!
Woke up, made coffee, perused the boards, read a bit, ate Chips Ahoy for breakfast (I love being a grownup). Filed away some stuff that’s been sitting around since I moved. Read an old story of mine that I found.
Later, I swam for a while, sat down on my porch to dry out completely while reading Sebastion Junger’s Fire.
Now, I’m planning to take a shower and wondering if there’s anyone I could call and ask out to get some Indian food this evening.
Me and the boy went down to Coney Island for some Nathan’s and miniature golf. We rode a virtual roller coaster. The line for the Cyclone was the equivalent of about two city blocks. We stood on it for a while but then it started raining. We’ll catch a ride on it next week.
Watched my two kids this morning, and then dropped them off at Grandma’s so I could practice with my church band for about 3 hours. Picked up the kids afterwards, and made some dinner for them. Amongst all the activity, I browse the SDMB and play Freecell at the same time. Working out after the kids go to sleep, then I will probably watch the movie from the library, The Deer Hunter.
Dashed off this morning to basketball pictures and game for my 8 year-old – and have spent the rest of the day cleaning/working on-line/playing with the kiddos.
It’s too hot to go outside!!
Our next program for this fine Saturday is to wash the cars.
Well, you asked!
woke up, took allergy meds., gave malenka her pill, went to the corner store for food and drink. onward down the street to cat sit. kitty was happy to see me. we ate and watched “changing rooms” and suzanne and trinny. then back home. started laundry, slip cover day here, all furniture coverings go into the wash. straighted up a bit, check out the sdmb, watch trading spaces. go to the next cat sitting assignment, a young kitten. he loves to play and is very vocal. i finally tucker him out and we have snuggle time on the couch and watch “while you were out.”
back home, hang up laundry and start to put trim up in the bedroom. oooh, “top gun” is on. tack up trim during commercial breaks. clean bathroom, take a shower, followed by a bath. dinner time while watching “queer eye.”
now i’m watching “queer eye” and paint dry, and surfing.
Caught up on some much-needed sleep today. Thankfully it wasn’t a good beach day. Now I gotta get ready to meet a bunch o’ friend to go out and watch a friend’s band play tonight.
Got up, fed & played with the dogs, puttered on my computer for a while and drank coffee, then got ambitious and started sorting the pile of stuff that was filling the livingroom that had been moved out of the other front room when we put the new floor in there; gotta clear out the livingroom so we can do that floor this week when Papa Tiger is off work. Then we had a nasty thunderstorm, so I snuggled on the couch with our storm-phobic golden retriever, and then I gave up and just took a nap. Just woke up. Am gonna go eat a buffet with Papa Tiger and then home to do not much this evening if I can help it. A lazy day except for one productive hour.
Woke up at 10, went back to bed, woke up at 3, went online, perused the boards, made plans to cach the Opry tonight on www.wsmonline.com, and I’m about to eat and get ready for an evening of enjoying my new cable modem.
Okay. The Cherokee’s brakes are done. The CJ2A has its tow bar bolts. The Yamaha R1 is back in the carport. If I could have figured out a reason to ride the Seca II, I would have moved all of my vehicles! (Well, except for the MGB, which is still in restoration.)
Aside from that I’ve drunk two pots of tea, and eaten a half-pound of ground beef and an Atkins bar.
All that in just 11 hours!
I’m drunk and about to go to bed.
well, my Lady Wife is out of town, so it’s just been me and my youngest son (19 months). we had a yard sale this morning, and basically just hung out, snacked and watched movies most of the day.
Spent some time making a pair of leather gauntlets for my armor kit, and they turned out pretty well for the amount of time and effort it took(basically made them out of scraps and edge pieces). Even managed to experiment a little and water-harden them so that they are now almost as good as steel plate in a fight.
Am surfing till my Lady checks in, and then will crash…though it will mostly be restless tossing without her here.
sigh
I’m going to a party!
Tomorrow I have to drag my kids, by bus, over to the Red Cross offices so I can apply for a job that I don’t really want. Well, I need money desperately, but this is a nighttime work at home job which is not what I am looking for. Anyway, taking the kids will be hellish.
Then I have to take them on an even worse expedition: to get financial counselling. Even bringing toys won’t keep them occupied. I hate not being able to get a babysitter!
Then I have an appointment to get counseling. The people in charge of my husband force us to go.
Then I’m supposed to get together with my neighbor.
Tomorrow is deceptive. My days aren’t usually that busy. Normally, I wake up, sit around, go out for a walk, check the mail, come home, watch a movie with my husband, go online, go to bed.
Waiting for my SIL in Florida to give birth to the first baby of our family’s new generation right now. She went into labor late last night and I’m just waiting for the call…
Oh, and I’m planning to see “Pirates of the Caribbean” later.
Good luck to the New Mom!
Right now I’m taking a break between batches of jam (making, not eating). Batch #1 was blueberry with orange, lime, candied ginger, and a touch of honey. I haven’t entirely made up my mind about Batch #2. It might be blueberry mango, or it might be spiced blueberry with cinnamon and almond extract. (Can you tell I went blueberry picking yesterday?)
Wish me luck…the kitchen looks like it’s been hit by a tornado.
Ran some errangs. Rescued a stray dog (have no idea what we’re gonna do with him).
Now I’ve been playing Wolverine’s Revenge for XBox. I’ve got to write a review shortly.
Update: the little girl arrived at 5:45 pm Eastern Time - mom and baby are both healthy, happy, and tired. She was born while I was in the movie, which is ironic because the movie is based on a Disney ride and she was born in Celebration, FL, so she’ll pretty much grow up in Disney World.
Congrats on the next generation!
After punching some data into the computer, I also saw Pirates (yesterday). Today I went to Monmouth Park and saw Peace Rules beat Funny Cide in the Haskell. Altogether a good weekend.
