Whatchya all doing today?

I am spending the day with my two grandies and my youngest daughter.

It is nice and warm here today, but not hot,and it is just nice to have a day off, it has been real busy all week at work, and I am really going to enjoy my two days off, because next week is going to be busy again.

What are you doing today, this lazy day of Saturday?

After perusing the boards, I’m headed towards San Francisco to help with a fundraiser. We’re auctioning off all sorts of goodies to raise money for an artists’ group at the Burning Man event. The last party I bartended at earned over $5,000 and this auction should pull in even more.

I went around to all of the stores I’ve patronized for the last two decades here in Silicon Valley. All but one of them instantly agreed to donate a $20.[sup]00[/sup] gift certificate to the event. It was really gratifying to see so many proprietors step up to the plate for a long time customer. The contributors were my favorite:

Breakfast restaurant
Bakery
Used book store
Falafel shack
Sausage shop
Middle East food store
Dim sum restaurant
Philippine food store

I’m hoping that we’ll be able to get two or three hundred dollars for these certificates. In addition, I’ve offered to contribute my services for a Mexican dinner that will be auctioned off as well. I wish the members here could meet this group. They are some of the most loving, peaceful and transparent people I’ve had the pleasure to be around.

Spectacular sunny Alaska day. Wife is up at the Alcan Border station helping muck out the water tank (don’t ask). It’s only about 11:00 and I’ve been to the bank, the laundry, the bakery for some spent grain loaves, washed the car and cleaned out part of the garage. Later I’ll go up on Flattop (a local mountain area) and take a hike. YAHOO!

Writing up another Staff Report. Dex is such a slave-driver. Just finished lunch…mmmmmmmm, gyros. Don’t know what I’ll do later, but I’m sure something will present itself.

You mean beside the normal raping and pillaging?

Not much.

Took the Cherokee down to Midas for brakes. Three-hour wait. I decided to go home and hook up the Willys and tow it down, then drive it home. Positioned the Cherokee and pulled the CJ2A out. Went to hook up the tow bar, only to find that someone had nicked the bolts that hold it on. (Huh?) Drove the Cherokee down to Midas and hitched a ride back with a neighbour. Drove the CJ to the hardware store to buy new bolts. Put the tow bar on, so I can drive to get the Cherokee later and tow the CJ home.

Woke up with a little bit of a hangover at 7.30. Fed the cat, then forced myself to go back to sleep (I find this very difficult normally). Managed to sleep through to 11am. Got up, fixed my cappuccino maker, made cappuccino, drove to a friend’s house, picked up some sausages and eggs that I’d left in his house while we were out drinking. Came home, made cappuccino, cooked breakfast (at 1pm), drove my wife to the beauty salon, made some more cappuccino, posted to the SDMB, picked my wife up, mowed the lawn, made cappuccino, and now I’m about to have a shower and get ready for my friend’s birthday party. All in all, a lovely lazy Saturday so far.

Nothing. Slept till 10:30, took a shower. The boyfriend came over and proceeded to piss me off. Went to a friends house who wasn’t home, and here I sit. I have to work at 5 then on to another glorious night of doing nothing (or if I do in fact do something, I’ll probably be bored.) I’m hard to keep occupied.

It’s almost my 18th birthday, so my parents are taking me out. We’re going to Powell’s, one of the biggest bookstores in the world, and they’ve given me some cash to spend there. Then we’ll go out for dinner and to see a play afterwards. A nice civilized time all around.

Working. Been here since 10:00, and I just got a little break from the end-of-summer-semester madness that happens when everyone says:

Oh my god! I have a huge paper due monday and I haven’t done any research. I better go to the library and see if I can get them to look stuff up for me!

Not that everyone does this - but there does seem to be a certain mad-dash quality to the last weekend of the session.

I love how Minnesota makes everyone a Viking.

Weirddave and I are hanging out online, in between fits of packing for our move next weekend. I might even get dressed today!

Working. Okay, I’m drifting through SDMB, so maybe just hanging out in the office on a glorious August Saturday.

Postponing the filing.

Watching the clock.

Enjoying the A/C.

I wish you the best of luck with all that you are doing Zenster!

I’m killing time before I take a shower and go on a blind date. I’ve been told she’s hot and likes to drink!

We just got bac kto Baltimore after driving down to our lot in California. We went to Annapolis first, bought a helmsman’s seat for the boat, then headed south to St. Mary’s county. We had some lunch, bought some bug repellent, stakes, and surveyor’s tape, and paced out roughly where our house will sit. We marked the trees that will have to come down (we’ll lose about a dozen big ones, alas) and talked about what we wanted in this house. As we drove back north, we made a list of question we need to ask the county zoning folks. All in all, a loverly afternoon.

We’re going out to dinner in a couple of hours. These conjugal weekends are quite nice…

I woke up at various times this morning, but finally rolled off my friend’s futon at about 11:30. Staying at his place for a couple more days before I complete the big move down to Tucson.
I’m now in the process of cleaning out my cubicle at the office.

Well, the Squeeze is out of town (family), I was out of town most of last week (work), so I went shopping.

You know how some people eat when they’re bored? I shop. (Yeah, odd for a guy, I guess…) Like for a new DVD player, or smoe new CDs or new power tools and even clothes. Sometimes I shop for gourmet foods and then use up a lot of time preparing it.

Today, I bought a car.

Wasn’t expecting to, but the price was just right. Now, I have to get rid of one. I think I’ll sell the broken one (never got bored enough to fix it).

Now, I’m marinating a steak (olive oil, fresh garlic, and a little salt. Just letting it sit in fridge for a couple of hours til I fire up Le Grill… Is marinate the right word for that?)

I’m trying to figure out if I want to rent a movie or watch A Clockwork Orange for the 27th time.

And I’m surfing. (Obviously)

Been to my mom’s to help can tomatoes (24 quarts, not bad). Now I’m home and currently going online to AC with Hubby. Then we’ll argue about what takeout to get for supper.

The Normal.

Thanks, Ladyrose, since I couldn’t make it to the Portland meeting, I figured that I should still hang out with some good people.

Worked Midnight til Noon. Should be sleeping now as I have to do the same again tomorrow morning. Spent an hour trying to put my eyebrow ring back in after taking out my plastic retainer from work.

Oh. Satisying my SDMB habit of course
