That was BEFORE they knocked me out, thankyouverymuch!
My mom had a great handyman - he only charged her $12/hr - even when he built her a new deck!! Then he had the audacity to move out of state! How dare he have a life of his own!!!

Woke to a gloriously cool 61° and today is supposed to stay in the 70s. Very atypical for June, but I’m loving it! In a few minutes, I’m going to run to Food Lion for a few items before it gets too crazy there. Not sure what the rest of the day will hold.
Happy Saturday!!
Morning all. Nothing much to report, temperature will be heading to near 90F today, so the AC will be on and I think staying close to Casa Rat will be the plan.
flytrap, only thunderbird I know went with the Maddog 20/20 at dorm parties way back when…
purp, be happy, you’re well fed and all is right with the world…sure Murphy will be along shortly, but for now glory in it!!
Take care all.
There was a variety of TP at Food Lion this morning! Perhaps we are approaching the end of Plague Days!
I also stopped at the Amish market for some 'maters, green beans, and squashes. All before 9AM!
Happy Saturday!
Chilly 55 degrees at the park this morning. I’m glad I wore a hoodie.
We had a good group there this morning and that, along with the chill in the air, got all the dogs running hard. Wore all their little asses out.
Got rid of my vacuum and my laptop.
I don’t know if we are going to take a load of branches to the dump today or wait until Moonday. Probably wait until Moonday.
However, we will be doing some more yard irk today as it is cool outside.
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. It was 66 when Gordie woke me up this morning. I need to do laundry.
FCM, there’s still a shortage here. But Plublix has cases of single ply Kleenex in plain boxes.
Thank you swampy! I’ll check it out.
Mooooom, it’s slowly coming back here too. I had just replenished my supply with a bale of TP before the plague, but it was a bargain brand that I decided to try. It feels like 24 grit sandpaper. With the pandemic, I couldn’t just replace it with something softer and am waiting until I find a whole bale of decent paper somewhere.
Up, caffeinating, breakfasting, a load of towels in the wash, puppy crate cleaned and will do KP in a few minutes. Today should be a semi-lazy day.
Happy Saturday!
Last night, Mrs. L.A. let me buy us dinner for my birthday. We went to the Mexican restaurant, which just re-opened their dining areas. On the way, we saw a car coming from the other direction that was festooned with orange, white, and black balloons. I said, ‘Must be a graduation.’ Mrs. L.A. said, ‘Are the high school colours orange and black?’ I said they are. We got to the main street in town, and it was lined with 17- and 18-year-olds dressed in black gowns and mortarboards. Each had a sign with his or her name on it, laying flat on the sidewalk behind them; and each had an orange paper ‘gift bag’ within a clear plastic bag (because it rains here) next to the student’s sign. A parade of cars were slowly proceeding in both directions, honking their horns. One girl had on a leopard print ‘Jane’ (from Tarzan) dress under her gown. One boy was wearing a gas mask. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. It was sweet.
Afternoon all. I didn’t get round to checking on the stripy flying things yesterday, due to an apathy attack, so I went today. It should have been a simple 30 second job; simply move a not very heavy box 1 metre to the right. In fact, that bit went OK, but the landowner has 3 hives there too, which I always just have a quick glance at to see if they’re flying. There was what looked very much like a swarm hanging on the front of one of his hives… Ah.
Tried to phone him, no answer. Walked up to the house, no one in.
Anyway, I would up trying to scoop up the swarm into a sheet (being all I had handy) then tip it into an empty hive I’d noticed he had lying around in the stable. Got stung once, and they were not happy with me, but hopefully there was a queen there and I got her in, so just cross fingers that they stay put. I’m assuming it was a swarm from that hive, as that would be a very odd place for a different swarm to sit, but who knows. Of course, he came home then, as he’d just been taking the dogs for a walk, and thankfully he was happy I’d done that. I’m never quite sure when it’s not my kit, but I didn’t think he’d want to lose the swarm, and it could have just flown off once the sun came out.
Anyway, it took so long to get that done, I didn’t have time to call in to pick stuff up from town, which I also didn’t get round to yesterday, so that shall be Monday’s job now.
HAPPY WOLRD GIN DAY!!!
Please celebrate accordingly.
Nut, good job. But good thing it wasn’t a tripe sized swarm, or you would have been three sheets to the wind.
**FCD **and I drove out to look at a couple of houses for sale, theoretically for the kids. Not a particularly nice neighborhood, and the houses were in sad shape, even for the price. And when a roof is obviously wavy…
Not that we’re planning to give them a house - but we thought we’d buy one and let them buy it from us as their finances improve. Frankly, we’re more than ready for them to be living elsewhere. It’s been 2 years after all.
We’re on our own for supper - what am I in the mood for?
Howdy Y’all! Been a lazy day here at da cave. We did have some quality cee-mint pond time and are all showered and cleanded up now. Any need to feed will be via forage. So goes another Sattidy.
doggio we shall celebrate with martinis then! Shaken, not stirred. I worry not about bruised gin. We shall have no more than two, because as everyone knows, One Martini, Two Martini, Three Martini, FLOOR!
Appears you already have begin…
Nut, good job with the bees.
Flyboy, some communities here are doing something similar, nice to see the kids honored.
Red, here too, the TP and other papers are in stock at most places, might not be as much as before but you can get it. I still have 40+ rolls, but if it looks like the Virus is increasing, I’ll grab a little more…
Sari, did you donate your vacuum? I have one I need to get rid of, not sure who’ll take it.
A nice hot bath led to a nice cool nap, but I am now up and…not doing much. 88F outside so except for getting the mail in, not planning on any outside ventures.
Take care, all.
I donated it to a woman at the dog park.
I still have 3 other vacuum cleaners plus a shop vac.
Eventually I want to get a central vac.
Took a load of branches to the dump today.
One more item off the ‘dreaded to do list’.
By the time I’m done I may not need somebody to come mow and trim the back yard.
My son is being lazy though, he needs to get the saw out there and cut down a tree. If I had my way, I’d cut down everything, plow it under, and start fresh.
Well, I’d keep the magnolia tree.
I have some really pretty trees out there though, I just don’t want them.
I’d happily give then to anybody who wants to dig them up and take them.
My neighbor’s niece’s husband did all the landscaping back there, and I think he probably sux at his job, he put in way too much stuff for such a small yard.
I had a brief email exchange with our very own Spiderman. He’s fine, just busy with real life.
FCM, your package went in the mail last night. I poked extra air holes in the box and fed it well before I dropped it in the mailbox. Hey, you said you like surprises!
Miss Owl, you’re evil!!!
I’ve seen where **Spidey **has posted a few times in other threads. Dunno why he’s ignoring us, tho.
Texas Roadhouse made supper. It was way too much food, so I have lunch for tomorrow. And I didn’t even have any of the yeast rolls, dammit!
Earlier, I took Roxy for a ride on the lawn mower - we drove around the yard, then went along the path thru the woods. She loves to drive!
Nothing else on the agenda tonight. Chillage shall ensue.
What about the poison sacks?
A good day so far…hand swellage is at a 5, which I call a win. I’m not out of the flare, but I’m in a better spot for today, and that’s cause for celebration. I don’t like gin as a rule, but perhaps I should down a spoonful since doggio advises it. I prefer vodka martinis.
swampy, I like Dorothy Parker’s verse:
I like a good martini.
Two at the very most.
Three, I’m under the table.
Four, I’m under my host.

Moooom, your kids are very, very lucky to have you and FCD. You’re wise enough not to outright give them a house but are making home ownership possible when it otherwise wouldn’t be. Kudos. Also, I think we should start speculating on what’s in that box from OW. I’m going with tarantula.
shoe, hope your bliss and contentment last a long while.
flyboy, I had to look up a vieux carre. Many different recipes. One called for pimento bitters. Sometimes I think drink recipe sites deliberately include esoteric ingredients to make people go to the liquor store. I do love studying the bitters section, though.
**Nellie **- I figure shes sending me all of Kopek’s old shoestrings so I can weave them into coasters.
Shhhhh … I told you **FCM **likes surprises!
One of the words in that sentence may be pertinent to the contents of the package. ![]()
