Where I live 20 F is middle of the road for January. I wouldn’t call it really cold until it gets down to 10 or lower. But then, I winterized my apartment and have the clothing for that sort of climate.
I went with steak and sweet potato and a pomegranate for dessert.
I made pizza dough yesterday, let it cold rise over night. I’ll be making a pepperoni-feta pizza tonight. Simple sauce of crushed San Marzanos, salt, pepper, and oregano, uncooked as it will get cooked on the pie. First time testing out the new pizza steel.
I need to make fondue before the weather warms up. I have a fondue pot from the 70s (harvest gold!) that I drag out about once a year or so. I think it’s time to do it again.
Yesterday was tuna croquettes and waffle fries. Today was the last of the sausage pasta bake I made last Sunday and a salad, and I may make quiche for tomorrow, or maybe General Tso’s Chicken; I’ll see what I feel like doing. I’ll also make some of Anthony Bourdain’s Boeuf Bourguignon this weekend so we can have that either Sunday or Monday. It needs to sit for a day or two to achieve maximum deliciousness.
You should! I’m a big fan of fondue of all types! My parents had an avacado green pot that we used with some regularity, I think they still have it. We have three, one ceramic for cheese, a stainless steel pot for oil/broth and one specifically for chocolate.
Soup made with sweet potatoes, coconut milk, bacon, onion, and garlic in a sort of version of loaded baked potato soup. Also stir-fried vegetables with ground pork.
I grilled a nice sockeye salmon filet with a balsamic glaze. Served with macaroni that I added goat cheese to after draining the pasta, and a nondescript side salad.
I seriously want to come over for supper one night @kayaker ! Tonight was cheese smashburgers and a green salad of butter lettuce, Oka cheese, radishes, scallions, and avacado goddess dressing. Cinnamon buns with crem cheese icing and a bottle of Gerard Bertrand Cote de Rose Pinot Noir.
