Taco salad, ice water, two Klondike bars (one mint chip, the other mocha).
Right now, in the kitchen: One 2.1 lb. live Dungeness crab, two 8 oz. spiny lobster tails thawing in a bowl of water, coleslaw I’ve just mixed up, and 2 corn-on-the-cobs that’ve been buttered, wrapped in foil, and are ready for heating.
I’ll make the nikumaki tomorrow.
.
Oh. My. God.
I shouldn’t have eaten all of it. I’m stuffed like a demon. The lobster tails were a little overcooked, but tasty nonetheless.
For dessert, Bacardi Ocho.
Lunch was very late and fairly hefty (leftover chicken and cauliflower curry with rice), so dinner is on the late side (plus I had to go buy the ingredients and wasn’t feeling very inspired). The nearest decent-sized supermarket is Filipino, so dinner will be chicken drumsticks in a seat-of-the-pants marinade of red miso, ginger, garlic, orange juice, rice vinegar, honey, sesame oil, Sriracha, and a bit of soy sauce. Grilled and eaten with corn on the cob.
I have no idea how it’s going to come out. Hopefully it’s not terrible.
I ate a late lunch (two sausage cheeseburgers) and a late supper (pulled pork, corn, and mac and cheese).
I’m going to make turkey cranberry monte cristos. I’m putting bacon on mine, the husband and daughter said no bacon.
If you want to add to the goodness, add some ground fennel and more sage. Doesn’t hurt to also throw in some fried bacon. After all has cooked and thickened, toss in a knob of butter.
Tonight’s dinner: sauteed sockeye salmon, grilled asparagus and boiled taters.
Aspara nikumaki, sticky rice, Spring greens salad, and dressing/dipping sauce I made from mayonnaise, soy sauce, mirin, and rice wine vinegar.
I don’t feel like cooking today. I was out shopping and I picked up some onion rolls, some ham and chicken coldcuts, and some sliced cheese. I’m just going to make a sandwich when I get hungry.
Roasted turkey thigh, stovetop stuffing with peas, buttery mashed potato, buttered sweet potato, cranberry dressing, iced tea.
Pancakes, bacon, OJ.
In the never-ending quest to reduce the amount of pig in my freezers, tonight I roasted a pork loin on the bone with a paste made from Dijon mustard, garlic, onions and white wine. Made a nice sauce from the drippings to put over mashed potatoes with parsley. Steamed some snap peas on the side.
There is leftover coconut rice pudding for dessert, but I’m plenty full enough. Maybe for breakfast, with fresh Rainier cherries on the side.
Husband & kid went to a matinee, so I knew they’d fill up on popcorn and I was free to make myself whatever I wanted. Made zucchini pancakes–a Turkish thing I learned a decade ago–and pigged out on those with white wine. Felt very good about life.
Tandoori chicken, seasoned Basmani rice, curried lentils. Coca-Cola to drink.
Eggs, biscuits, sausage.
Nuthin
There were locally grown tomatoes at the farm stand today, and I have basil in the green house. So I threw together some Ciabatta bread early this afternoon, sliced up some fresh mozzarella I had the foresight to buy earlier this week, and tonight was the first of (hopefully many) Caprese salads of the season. My, it was nice! Little glass of chardonnay to drink.
Were you bad?
I’m gettin NUTHIN for Christmas! Mommy and Daddy are mad!
I had an andouille sausage on a baguette, and chocolate pudding.
