So, what is everyone doing the day after Thanksgiving? Anyone working that day?
I took the day off, and I’m going to donate blood.

What date is thanksgiving on? (speaking as a foreigner i’ve always wondered)
I will be returning from the cruise we are taking for our honeymoon, picking up the cat from the kennel, taking a nap probably, and maybe some laundry.
Heartburn. Belching. Frequent trips to the john. Frequent trips to the fridge for turkey leftovers.
The usual…
Working.
My son has the funny idea that we will go to a mall and watch the crowds!
(of course,we won’t buy anyhting)
Studying.
I have a final Monday the 2nd. Of course, I’ll be at my parents’ house, so mom may want to go shopping, and I suppose I could go out with her for a while.
By Saturday afternoon I’ll be back in Knoxville, ensconced in the library.
Actually celebrating Thanksgiving with my family on Friday, due to coordination of everyone’s schedules.
Thursday we’re putting the Christmas tree up!
Probably seeing the new Bond film, having left Aaron in the care of his uncle and cousin for the afternoon.
Robin
garius - Thanksgiving is on the 28th this year. It is a floating holiday.
As for that Friday - I will be shopping, shopping, shopping.
Returning from Lousiana on a train.
Wouldn’t be out shopping if you paid me. I can’t stand crowds on a good day, Christmas shopping crowds are even worse, and those crowds are the utter worst of all.
Going to see Alro Guthrie, and hoping he plays Alice’s Restaurant
Shop!
Black friday? So called because of Blackie the Cheap of Wales or maybe cause stores get in the black that day?
Search the net people are posting black friday lists for stores like Target, etc. They already know whats going to be on sale & for what price. The stores aren’t too excited about people posting these secret lists, so I won’t give any URLs.
Me thinks I have to work. Eeeewwww. I am doing most of my shopping on line, if possible, so I’m not planning on battling the crowds.
We got a vacation package in NYC, even though we are native New Yorkers. So Friday we’ll be taking our son the Museum of Natural History and doing some other tourist stuff.
Gonna be studying and working on two class projects. Whoopee
I’m off the whole week so the Christmas tree and all the decorations go up. We’ll be sitting there Thursday eating our turkey and watching the Christmas tree lights.
If it doesn’t rain, spousal unit and I will be going to our lot to do a preliminary rough layout of the house. We want to determine which trees will have to be cleared. If it rains, who knows??
During the day, I will be driving to Baltimore.
That night, I will be hanging out with Pauly Shore.
Oh, and my honey. He’s opening for Pauly at the Improv.
Whee!
My job lets folks bring their kids in that day. So not much work gets done. It is wierd, but it is one of the highlights of my kids’ year. They really look forward to going to daddy’s office! Wish I were so excited to come in here on a daily basis. So they’ll come in, we’ll goof around on the computer, raid the candy bowls, Xerox our faces, maybe find something to look at downtown - maybe the trading floor at the CBOT.
Then in the evening, the day after Thanksgiving my town has a holiday walk. They light the tree, Santa comes, and the downtown merchants stay open with cider, cookies, the occasional beer or mulled wine… Their attempt to be Bedford Fall-ish. Hokey, but can be fun if you get into it. You see a lot of neighbors, and everyone is in a good mood.
Then we have a good friend who lives a couple of blocks from downtown. She opens her house that eve for everyone to stumble to. Then it’s just another couple of block stumble home.
