What's that clickin' noise in the MMP

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 74 Amurrkin out and partly cloudy (partly moony?) with a predicted high of 95 and mostly N.O.S. for the day. Today I shall take care of laundry and put dishes back in the china cabinets. One of yestiddy’s chores that I forgot to mention was runnin’ said dishes through the dishwasher. I could have put 'em away then but didn’t want to so I didn’t. Since it’s Tuesday, sup shall be tacos (OLÈ) 'n fixin’s.

mandala, not enough caffeine/lack of functionin’ brain cells is not lettin’ me remember your nickname, hope everything works out irkwise for ya.

Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy demands sustenance. Then, onward into the day! Rah.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

We’re fortunate to have a garage that we can trust, and every time one of our vehicles goes in for routine maintenance, they do a general inspection. I don’t know if the CV joints are part of that - I’d be surprised - but unless something catastrophic happens before I hit 170K, I’ll just ask Paul to have a look at it then.

Eons ago, we had a Jetta whose CV boot got a tear. The shop replaced the boot - I wasn’t savvy enough to ask about the CV joint itself. And it wasn’t much longer when **FCD **pulled into a parking lot and pieces of CV joint started falling down. Had we had a good garage then, we’d have avoided that mess.

It gets harder and harder to drag myself out of bed for work. I will make it till Dec 12, but only just barely, I’m sure… I really like the work. It’s the commuting and associated nonsense that I can do without. Ah well, soon enough.

Happy Tuesday!!

I have less than half a pack left. Quit is when those are gone. The thought of not smoking fills me with anxiety. But I look forward to the non anxiety of not having to plan around stopping for cigarettes.

Up, caffeinated, and shevled. Off today. I’m hitting the laundromat after hockey practice.

You can do it!

Blurfage Howdy! Tis the first of October already. This means I have so much to do I have to make a list lest I forget something. I had one of those almost sleepless nights so this shall be extra fun today.

Blurfage

Morning all. It’s October 1st and the temperature is climbing to 96F according to the weather folks. Bah.

mandala, congrats on current project and good luck with the next.

How many miles to Chicago?

About 40. I’m in the Chi town burbs. And yes, I’m wearing shades.

Hit it.

I’m back in Seattle again
Almost three hours to get in
Where the traffic, it is hell
And the port… God, what’s that smell?
I’m back in Seattle again

Lunchtime and it’s leftover sketties. Busy, busy.

Lunch isn’t until noon, and that’s three hours away. Usually, I take an earlier lunch and go to Trader Joe’s for a Cobb salad. Today, we’re having a ‘team lunch’. The staff are assigned to four teams, and every three months (give or take) one of the teams makes lunch for the office. It seems everyone immediately gravitated toward themes. These are kept secret by the teams, so I have no idea what we’re having.

Are you sleepless?

Mystery meat!

Some kind of beef?

Sleep deprived, anyway. 0425 alarm on commuting days.

Happy Toosday!

Home from getting the nerf boards installed.
I think I should have paid more money and got running boards.

It was cloudy and cool this morning, but it got hot and N.O.S. while I was waiting outside for the truck. I took both pups with me, they were hot and bored. We took a few short walks on the shady side of the street, and then went inside to sit in the AC.
Both dogs came home and crashed.
It’s supposed to get up to 88 today, and into the 90s tomorrow.

In an hour or so we have to go get groceries. It will be interesting to see who gets to ride shotgun. My money is on Ripple.

Home. What to do for supper??? Daughter and SIL have class this evening, so it’s just 3 of us. Decisions decisions…

FCM, Bay-bee!

Last night I hit the “retired old bats” culinary jackpot! I had gotten b/s chickie thighs out of the freezer, and was agonizing over “Oh, Gawd, now what to fix.” YOU know what I mean!

Poach chickie in boxed broth. When cooked through, pull out chickie, dice, put it back in the pot. Add one bag frozen mixed veggies, one teaspoon of “Better than Buillon” chickie flavor, and a pinch of poultry seasoning. Let that come to a boil while you…

Stir up a batch of Red Lobster Cheddar Bay biscuits. Then drop the biscuit dough by spoonfuls (spoonsful?) On the bubbling broth. Turn down to a simmer, let it cook up happiness for ten minutes, uncovered.

Mix up herb butter (seasoning packet included with mix) and dab on top of dough blobs. Cover, simmer ten more minutes.

The best damned chicken and dumplings in the WORLD!

My family already worships at the altar of chicken and dumplings. Now they will consider me a Goddess!

Mr VOW almost got his head stuck in the pan, licking out the last drops.

P. S. That “Better than Buillon” is some crazy, miraculous invention that probably requires you sell your soul to Beelzebub. It’s absolutely worth it.

Oh, my.

The team really went all-out. It’s not just ‘Theme X’ foods. They did a whole presentation. They called their lunch ‘Buca di Duwamish’, which is appropriate, since we’re at the mouth the Duwamish. We gathered in the lobby, where they handed out menus.

I’ve put on three pounds since the last time I weighed myself. No carbs for me! And I so love fettuccine! :frowning: I had Caesar salad (mostly from the non-chicken bowl, but some with chicken), olives, salami, a mushroom, a couple of the Caprese toothpicks, and a couple of pepperoncini. I thought I was out of luck otherwise, but one of my coworkers brought me a bowl of chicken meat. I got a couple (well, three) little meatballs, and my coworker put the marinara sauce on top. After the salad and antipasti, I couldn’t finish what she gave me. Fortunately, I keep a container at my desk so I could save my leftovers for Thursday.

Oh, and I had a couple of glasses of chianti. Would’ve had more, but… Work, commute…

The tomatoes, some of which were used in the sauce, and the oregano were out of my boss’s garden.
