I love Pork roll - it’s a processed pork product that comes in slices kind of like Canadian Bacon, but it has a totally different texture and taste. I love it. It’s a great breakfast food that’s heartier but less greasy than bacon or sausage.
You can’t find it anywhere around here - Chicago. According to the Wikipedia entry, it’s not really available many places outside of Jersey.
So what’s something that’s most LIKE pork roll that I can buy? Is there something closer to it than canadian bacon?
Have you considered buying it online or is that too expensive?
Since this is about food, I’m moving it to Cafe Society.

Naw, that’s an insane price. I’m specifically looking for a good substitution for it in my life. What’s similar?
I’ve never had it, but it’s in all the supermarkets here (I’m in New York) so I have seen it. What about bologna? Maybe that would be close? I think Oscar Meyer makes a pork bologna.
Apparently, Treasure Island on Broadway occasionally stocks it. More info here. It’s also been spotted at Casey’s in Naperville. So they can be found in the Chicagoland area.
Oh shit, I’m hitting that up TOMORROW.
That would fit the form factor, but the pork roll secret is the spicing, which bologna lacks.
Call first, though, because it seems that it goes in and out of stock.
