Of course, if I woke up in a hospital with nothing on, and no idea how I got there, money would probably be the least of my worries.
I’ve bought five-dollar (well, $7, I think) at Target before. It helps if you’re horrifyingly small, and therefore, underwire/etc is just wasted on you.

Just a note. The expensive stuff I didn’t buy myself. I have been given wonderful gifts by wonderful people who are no longer with us. I would trade anything to have them back. “Stuff” doesn’t mean a thing… An expensive handbag doesn’t make you a better person. It just makes you somebody who is carrying an expensive handbag.
Just my 2 cents.
So are you prepared to value them?
Glad you cleared that up for us. Wouldn’t want anyone thinking you’re a cheapskate.

Unless the robbers cut off your fingers and toes, I’m pretty sure the mani/pedi would still be intact.
I dunno, Alice. The toes are awful cute…red with black polka dots. Remember the “Sex and the City” eppy where Sarah Jessica gets her Manolo Blahniks ripped off and has to go to her meeting barefoot?
I spend about $15 on a bra, and the difference between that and a $5 is softer, better fabric, longer wear, and better fit. I’m sure I could get more of those spending more; I wonder when it just becomes paying for the brand?
Dansko clogs or Birkinstocks ~$100
Tee-shirt, Lands End $19
Chinos, KMart $22
Bra $15
Underpants $3
Coat $40
Wallet thing with keyring $6
Gold chain with cross and garnet pendant $150 ??

Darn, I forgot my contact lenses. Add $18.
The OP and thinking of this reminds me of being with my brother when he was in the Cardiac ICU. Mom was the one who remembered that maybe he had his lenses in and maybe they needed to come out. He was sedated and intubated so we tried to get him to write down whether he had them in. Actually peering into his eye ended up being more effective. :smack:

Wow, didn’t think it would be that much. I always thought I lived kind of modestly but even given the fact that I acquired most of those things over years, that still seems pretty steep. Of course, some of the biggest ticket items (watch, wedding ring, wallet) were gifts. I justify the jacket on its quality and longevity (3 years of abuse with almost no visible wear, kicks ass in all kinds of weather).
That total doesn’t count my usual bag, which I have with me most of the time going to and from places. That contains my 2 year old PowerBook, iPod, paperback book, and various assorted other things and would probably add up to twice the immediate person costs, or more, to replace. Weird to think that I’m carrying around stuff that’s worth close to two months of wages every single day.
I’m not ruling out brand adding to price; however, I promise that there’s a difference between a $15 and a $100 bra. The difference between a $100 and $200 bra is more subtle for sure.
