Here’s another vote for Newcastle.
Pyramid’s Curveball
Killians
(Pet Peeve - light beer drinkers. Worst Peeve: Light beer, from a bottle at a Pub. Just dumb)
Could we please not talk about beer this morning.
Thanks.
Well Banana Bread Beer, Its Great… Hard to find But Loverly.
Guiness
Almost any British ale or bitter
Sam Addam’s Boston Lager
Pilsner Urquell
Hoegaarden (Belgian White Ale)
Edelweiss Hefeweizen (or Hacker-Pschorr’s wheat beer.)
Fruit beers suck (with the possible exception of Belgian lambics.)
Worst beer? Milwaukee’s Best, Busch Lite – heck, anything with “Lite” in the name is horsepiss. Any beer you have to add lime or syrup to give it flavor is bad. Any beer you have to serve at near-freezing temperatures to mask the flavor is bad. Any beer made with rice or corn is bad. Any beer mixed with tequila is bad. Any beer from France is bad. (No particular prejudice against the French…just their beer sucks.)
There really is no way to say which is my favorite. Different occassions call for different beers. And I value variety in my choices rather than having a signature beer.
If it’s very hot and I’ve been working and sweating, it’s hard to beat a hoppy refreshing Sierra Nevada Pale Ale or a Hefe Weissen of some sort.
For all-night session drinking, I love Porters, Bitters and Mild Ales of all types. Probably my favorite readily available one is Sierra Nevada’s Porter. Redhook ESB was an old favorite but I haven’t seen it around in years.
If I’m going to have only a pint or two, then Guinness is at the top of the bill if available (on tap only). If not, then a dunkel weizen, Tappist or an IPA.
okay now I am thirsty
Another vote for Miller Lite. I spent years sampling every import and microbrew I could find, but now I’m content to drink Miller Lite almost every time. It’s always good.
Schnieder Wiesse original (wheat beer that is almost too smooth)
Grolsch (it MUST be in the swing top bottle, ice cold)
Shiner Bock
Bavaria (one of the better “cheap” beers I have found)
Hollandia (another one of the better “cheap” beers)
unclviny
Why, UncleBeer, of course!
(Hey, mods, do I get extra points for blatant brown-nosing?)
Hrm…hard to name a hard-and-fast favorite…but a few at the top of my list:
(1) Guiness Draught (of course)
(2) Newcastle
(3) A “true” Black-n-Tan (Guiness and Harp mixed)
(4) Dixie’s Blackened Voodoo
(5) Abita Amber or Abita Turbodog, depending on if I’m in the mood for red or dark

Well, my favourite beer…
That’s very difficult!
Being a show-off g I’ve got to tell you folks,
that I not only live in Germany but also right next
to the worlds oldest (documented) brewery, in Weihenstephan.
Having said that, I must confess that my favourite during hot summer is Beck’s (which is from Bremen, far up in the north/ Philladelphia) and especially Beck’s Gold.
I also like the “flavour from down under” - Foster’s
And of course I like “Weißbier”.
And now for todays special recipe:
“Goaß”: bavarian for “goat”
(pretty surprising how similar the words are, huh?)
Take 0.5 liters of your favourite dark beer
0.4 liters of Coca-Cola
and on top a shot of cherry liquor
There you go!
Of course you can change the quantities (since some of you only know ounces and most won’t have the 1-liter-maßkrug-glasses), as long as the propotions stay reasonable
Enjoy!
Anchor Brewing’s Liberty Ale and barley wine style Old Foghorn.
There’s another way to drink Grolsch??
aaaaah, beer. Nothing like a cold PBR in a can.
::beats down her inner redneck::
another vote for Hoegaarden Simply divinity.
also, I can’t recall the spelling, it but it sounds like franz-eh-skanner. Yummy.
Killians
I love all of those “headless, foamless, filled to the brim, pisswarm ales they sell in British pubs.” No particular favorite, though I frequently imbibed Courage Best and Greene King bitters.
After bitters, I’d say…
Guinness (draught)
Caffrey’s
Newcastle Brown Ale
Sam Adam’s Boston Ale
McEwan’s Scotch Ale
Mainly ales, as you can see, but I occasionally drink lagers, though usually on the dark side:
Negra Modelo
Beck’s Dark
AmberBock
Heineken Dark
and so on.
My favorites are the abby style beers of Belgium.
St Sixtus, Orval and Chimay for example.
