Youngest of four girls, with a large enough age spread that I also felt like an only child. (18.5 years between eldest and me, eight years between myself and my closest sibling).
I am the youngest of either two or five. Two, being my biological sister and myself; the five would be two elder step-brothers and an elder step-sister.
The oldest of 9 for many years, now 10-- a sibling who had been adopted found us.

20 and a half years’ difference between me and the “baby”. All have the same mother; my father died when I was 5, so my mother remarried, and the 5 last ones have another father.
Oldest daughter of three bio-sibs, second oldest daughter of six 70’s matched in age “Brady Bunch” style step-sibs. Four girls, two boys. But, eldest step-sister was kinda neurotic, so, I was, in effect, the eldest daughter, with a young Mom, so that made me the Caretaker responsible one for the bunch.
First grandchild on both bio sides, though, so that nice attention gave me the huevos to get through the rest of it all.

Lots of complications and marriages among the parents of me and my sibs, but no matter which way you configure it, I’m the eldest.

I’m the middle child of my biological father’s two sons; I’m the oldest boy of my first stepmother’s three kids (unless you count my stillborn identical twin, making me boy number two by 2 minutes); I was my biological mother’s only child, until she had another child out of wedlock by my paternal-side third-cousin, once removed, giving me a half step baby sister (and an illegitimate third step-cousin, twice removed) and giving mom a spot on the Jerry Springer Show; I was the only girl (after my transgender operation) in between my second stepfather’s two biological sons—my second set of half-brothers—both of whom received full football scholarships at a big 10 college (half brother #1, second string quarterback; half brother #2, first string halfback); I was the third boy (after my reverse transgender operation) of my second stepmother’s five kids (well, technically four kid’s, since losing custody of “Half Pint”, her beloved, growth stunted, half Cherokee, half Albanian foster child, following trumped up HRS charges accusing stepmom of splitting pint bottles of Maddog 20/20 with the under aged boy, my senior by 2 years); My great-step-aunt, on the maternal side of my first stepmother, adopted me after my botched third reverse, reverse transgen….oh, who am I kidding, you guy’s aren’t buying any of this…
…Uninterestingly, I’m just the youngest of 3 from one set of factory installed parents. :o
Dr. Poopiepants, I hear youngest children (not “babies”) often tell wildly imaginative stories to get attention. Do you think there’s any truth to that?

I included my best guess of the poster’s self identification. Identity changed over time - 3
Sixth of seven for my dad, third of four for my mom, but definitely second family. Dad pretty much started over when he married the second time.
The three oldest (all boys) were teenagers when their mother died, so they were grown and out of the house by the time we came along. My sister was the only one who ever lived in the same house with any of them.
Basically I identify as middle child, second daughter, third of four (hence the username). The four of us go girl, boy, girl, boy.
The three kids are each 4 years apart, and we’re the only children of my two parents.
My dad is second of 4, my mom is the baby (and only female) of 4.
I think the youngest kids have the most fun the youngest have the most “parents”, but they’re trusted sooner (bike on the street, stay out late) since parents have loosened up.
