Autumn Leaves, Hank Garland’s version. I’m learning to play it, and Hank’s version gets stuck in my head every time I work on the song (which has been episodic, as me and my guitar teacher explore other music along the way (last week it was the Byzantine scale, after I’d heard to some sitar pieces and asked about the scale being used), but dammit I want to finish this piece).
At some point while going about my day, I’ll start hearing E.S. Posthumus - Ebla, which makes pretty much whatever mundane task in which I’m engaged seem like an epic undertaking (slow-mo snap-zoom laundry folding, aww yeah).
After the sun sets, I’ll get Faultline’s cover of Greenfields with R.E.M.'s Michael Stipes on vocals, which is just plain spooky.
I have one, but it’s not something anyone else would know. I’m learning to play guitar and I have been working on a solo that basically consists of a series of exercise riffs from my lessons strung together. Each riff was written to teach a specific technique, and they’re not passages from any real songs. Anyway, that’s been stuck in my head for a few days now.
The season 4 opening song to Case Closed. I am going to start throwing things if I don’t get this song out of my head. It’s been stuck there for over a week now and nothing has managed to dislodge it. It’s even interfering with my sleep because it wont SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!
Although I had heard it previously in the Edith Piaf movie, it resurfaced as an earworm after seeing Inception. Although, disappointingly, it makes only a scant brief appearance on the OST. I especially love the way that the film repeats the main motifs, but much slower, turning the brassy horns into foghorns…
