Fell skiing New Years and dislocated my shoulder. After 10 minutes of laying there stunned, I sat up and felt it pop back in. Kept skiing for a couple of hours until the pain was so bad I couldn’t use it at all then went to the ER the next day. They gave me a pretty powerful prescription but the local pharmacy was closed because of the S.E. CO blizzard. So I worked cattle for a couple of days and tried to fill it days later home in a different state. No dice.
Last night my gout went for the first time into my knee. Right now I’d gladly trade it for another dislocation sans pain medicine. It’s not that I can’t work… I can’t walk, sleep or even move and 7 hours after calling the doc she still hasn’t called back.
Lieu get your Doc to prescribe you Colchicine for your gout. It works great for me. Does give you a tad of the shits though.
My latest injury you ask? Cat bite on my arm. I was playing with kitty and I suppose she thought things were getting a little rough and put an end to the play by biting me. (Little bitch!)
Not really an injury per se, but I’ve been laid out with some weird form of stomach flu the last couple of days. Every 10 or 15 minutes, I get the wonderful experience of an agonizing abdominal cramp that leaves me doubled over in pain. I went to the doctor today and was told that it’s likely viral and to just wait it out. Yay.
I’m a bit of a clutz, so I’m always getting hurt at work. Clumsy people probably shouldn’t be in my line of work, I think. I’ve had co-workers lecture me about bleeding on peoples’ appliances
The latest was at home, though. One of the kittens, Peanut, was on my lap and decided she wanted down. Now. I guess she didn’t notice my left middle finger was right under her paw, though.
Out come the claws as she jumps, and slice! Pretty much cut open my finger from the tip to that first knuckle, the little beast.
tonight at work i scored eleven cuts (higher than average, slightly outside of the normal range - but we were really busy) on my fingers / hands from broken glass… only one involved bleeding, and at that only minor. the callous is the barback’s best friend.
but even when cuts don’t bleed, citrus & alcohol still sting like bitch - that’s why crazy glue is the barback’s second best friend.
Yesterday I managed to get an industrial staple into the side of my left thumb. I was walking around the office showing it off. People thought it was disgusting.
It’s fun doing that, yeah? Back in trade school I sliced my wrist open (accidentally, mind you) and had everyone grossed out. A little 3 inch cut, drippy drippy, and I’m the only one that wasn’t worried in the least.
Last night I caught the skin on the shaft of my penis in the oscillating teeth of an electric hair trimmer. Not a big tear, but it was damn painful and there was blood drawn. Serves me right for seeing how effective a trimmer would be compared to scissors and a razor when dealing with pubic deforestation.
On Christmas Eve, I fell the last five or six steps on the stairs—I missed a step because I didn’t turn the light on. My right foot was really swollen although there was no discoloration. It hurt like blazes, too. The swelling is still there, the pain is still there, so I see a podiatrist on Monday.
If it counts, I had another skin cancer removed this past Wednesday. The incision is immediately adjacent to and parallel with my left ear; it is about an inch and a half long, with about a jillion stitches. Hurts, too.
Started taking a matiral arts class this week - Tae Kuk Mu Sul.
I was sore after the first class Tuesday, but still went again on Thurs.
My lowerneck/shoulders are clearly trying to punish me for some trangression I can’t even imagine. For someone with persistent neck/back problems, for it to hurt this much still is unusual; my spine has learned to usually work things out on its own. Might have to get a good neck rub from my SO today and see if that helps any. Other than that, its excruciatingly painful to take off my sweatshirt, messenger bag, or buckle my seatbelt.
Anyone who has worked in a theater does. Have you done the things where you’re in a hurry and hit the pump on the butter thing really hard yet? Because the butter pumps don’t like that and they spray piping hot butter-substance all over your hands/arms. Fairly unpleasant, that.
I was chopping my rowing blisters and callouses off my hands a few days ago, when my hand slipped and I stabbed my nail scissors straight into my ring finger. I put a stitch in it myself just for fun.
I have a four inch gash up the back of my right thigh - I was at a pool party yesterday and sat on a metal work chair and pushed my bum back into the seat…right over a millimetre tall pin of metal that hadn’t been discovered until right then. Can’t touch the cut, can’t sit down…
My boss stabbed me in the arm with a utility knife yesterday. Left forearm about 3" below the elbow. It was pretty deep, but it was a busy, bizarre day, so I just duct-taped it back together.
Must be nice to be barefoot down under! I would love to be barefoot outdoors right now but it is only 1 degree and I don’t feel much like getting frostbite. I am barefoot now but only because I am indoors and my feet are hot. My laptop tray isn’t helping to keep the heat off my legs and I’m about to shut down for the sake of being cool. I’m glad you only got a minor cut on your foot. Losing appendages is not a good thing.
secateurs = hand held mechanical pruner in America
I had to look it up to be sure what it was, so I’ll save you from having to check.
The blood spot in the eye is as red as it ws three days ago, and it spread out a bit larger and stabilized in size yesterday. At least the heat from healing other areas has cooled down.
