Well, the weather is just sucktastic today, so I don’t think I’ll be going out of the building for lunch (even though I want to - I want GYROS, DAMMIT!!). Looking at my menu from the folks from the cafeteria, I will probably end up having a piece of cake or pie, maybe a Hawaiian Punch (Fruit Juicy Red!) and perhaps a piece or two of pizza. I’ll see what the grilled sandwich guy has to offer, but eh - it isn’t appealing much to me today. Everything else looks like crap.
Instead though, today’s menu consists of Gemelli pasta with a creamy four cheese sauce and asparagus tips. A frozen dinner, not home made, but not bad all things considered. For a snack I have Triscuit Thin Crisps. Fiber and salt. What’s not to love?
I was down to practically nothing but staples in my kitchen last night, so in a drunken flurry of activity, I made some swedish meatballs with penne pasta. So I am eating the leftovers for lunch today. It is a little coagulated today, but tastes pretty good. Oh, and a rootbeer.
Also, there are several of you Dopers who are about to wither away to nothing.
A big-ass salad with lettuce, shredded carrots, red cabbage, and grape tomatoes, topped with various dehydrated thingies called Salad Toppers. A whole-wheat pita, and red seedless California grapes (“The Natural Snack.”) washed down with about 3 cups of water. There will be tea later.
A salad consisting of romaine lettuce leaves, green bell peppers, peas, three tomatoe wedges, chopped boiled egg, and a sprinke of cheddar cheese. Alas, there weren’t any craisins, or I would have put them on my salad.
My drink is Gold Peak iced green tea.
I may indulge in a piece or two of chocolate a couple of hours from now.
Lunch at my daughter’s school cafeteria - it was their Thanksgiving lunch to which family members were invited. Overcooked salty green beans, instant mashed potatoes, turkeyoid meatlike substance, instant stuffing, three grams of jellied cranberry sauce, and a small cup of some sort of pumpkin pudding with oddly chewy bits* in it.
A suspicious-looking burger and a bowl of Corn Flakes. I’m in college; that should explain it. I really wish I had a kitchen this year so I didn’t have to eat in the dining hall all the time.
My lunch today was an Atkins Chocolate Delight drink; a small container of Dole mixed spring salad greens, no dressing; a chicken leg, skinned; a carb-control three ounce Dannon vanilla yogurt and half a Snickers Bar for dessert.
