Don’t care for them.
Even though small, they’re still distracting. And then the smallness that keeps them from being even more distracting is annoying in that you can’t tell what many of them depict.
I’m leaving them turned on for a while just to see what everyone chooses but will turn them off soon.
As others have said:
I like them.
I thought the size was too small at first but now think it is perfect: enough to see details in the pictures but not so big as to dominate a post.
It’s been fun to see what people do that obviously relates to their user name and even more fun to try to decipher some of the ones that aren’t so obvious.
I think it’s a great idea to let people opt out of seeing them.
I know this isn’t ATMB, but I say “good call, TubaDiva!”

I don’t see any, so I must have them turned off by default since I’ve not changed any settings. Not interested in seeing them either.

On reflection, I think my previous post was wrong. IIRC I saw the ATMB thread title and went straight to my User CP and uploaded one. And I didn’t have to turn it on, just tell it to use the custom one I was uploading.

I should add that even though I don’t care for the new avatars myself, I do think it was a very good call by TubaDiva to allow them.
It’s nice to know that a power that be is actively working to make this place more enjoyable for the people who post here.

Never really wanted them, but thought I’d give them a try out and see.
As just little splotches of colour, not so annoying really.
But being unable to decipher what it is, very annoying.
(I was going to put one in but couldn’t figure out how to get the image small enough on my iPad mini. Tried a few things but was just frustrated in the end, and gave up.)
I’ll probably turn them off. Especially once people start switching them out near daily, that kinda ruins it for me. I see it on other boards though, as standard fare.
I didn’t think I cared, but now that they are here I like them and want them to stay.
I think they are a touch too small, though. If they are the least bit cluttered I cannot tell what the image is.
I guess this is part of the challenge of determining which one works for you.

What avatars? I didn’t even know they’d been added (must be a setting somewhere that reveals them).
I’m somewhere between indifference and annoyance when I find them on other forums. I’ll leave them off since they add nothing to the conversation.
As long as they’re not animated, I’m good with them. One board I used to frequent had way too much crap moving on it - I felt like I was trapped in a middle-schooler’s My Space page.
I’m more weirded out by people’s reactions to avatars than I’m affected by the avatars themselves.
It’s a minor change. They’d look better 100x100, but christonacracker it’s a tiny blip.
I don’t hate them; the fact that TubaDiva was considerate enough to make it possible for me to never see one probably is a factor in that.
I have no opinion of them - I disabled them in my CP moments after the announcement of them.
