When did "cocksucker" become synonymous with "homosexual"?

That should be:
placing the supposed offensiveness of a term that some of us who are supposedly being badmouthed don’t find offensive above the death of a child

Please demonstrate where I or anybody in this thread said any such thing. And since you can’t, fuck right the fuck off.

And the term is likely to not refer to anything gender-specific even more than that. My god, minty, please tell me you’re just posting in a rage and you will sit back and see this!

In fact, fuck, it is more than twice as likely to NOT refer to a male!

:frowning: :confused

This was the last post in the original thread to even tangentally deal with the story in the OP:

Sure doesn’t sound very concerned about the vicious beating to me.

By the way, have you gotten around to reading the article that was linked in the OP of that thread? You know, the one that revealed that one of the people the OP was calling a cocksucker was female?

**

I’ve never called anyone a cocksucker. I do think at some point we need to let things go. I don’t particularly like it when people say things like redneck, white trash, or hillbilly but I just don’t think it is worth the effort to make a big deal out of it.

And we’ve got to watch out about to “bite” thing. We don’t want to offend the BDSM or the gourmet crowd who thinks biting is a good thing.
Marc

And the other was a male. Considering that men are apparently 11 to 13 times more likely than women to be called cocksuckers, I’m going to hazard a guess that the word would not have been employed but for the presence of the man in the story. Oh, and like Stinkbreath, you’re also ignoring the homophobic “fuck you up your asses!” comment. They’re two sides of the same ugly coin, you see, whether ripped off from Kevin Smith or not.

Oh, and are you done fucking right the fuck off yet? Or would you simply prefer to keep on placing words in other people’s mouths (a/k/a “lying”)?

Whatever, mintybitch, I’ve got better things to do. Like sucking cock.

I just hope when the next legitimate complaint of homophobia is posted here that it isn’t laughed off because of silly shit like this.

Suck away, man. It’s a lot more likely to be productive for you than trying to dance around the literal meaning of the word and the gender-specific context of its use as an insult that indicates it is very, very likely to be employed as an insult precisely because of that literal meaning.

Oh, and erl? Your math is quite wrong. Only a few of those 15 references I classed together for ease of comparison were truly non-gender-specific. 11 were simply gratuitous Pit cussing, and 1 was a discussion of the propriety of using the word. So there were only three non-gender-specific usages. And I’m not pissed (except at grendel’s idiotic attempt to put words in my mouth), I’m just flabbergasted that otherwise reasonable people continue to deny the obvious homophobic origin and contemporary usage of the word.

I dislike my brother (ok I hate him) and regularly call him a “fucking wanker”. I would like to apologise if I have offended any fornicating masturbators.
While my brother is both a fornicator and a masturbator (I know…I’ve seen the dirty mags in his bathroom) I doubt he would feel insulted by my pointing this out (in fact he’s probably quite proud of his fornicating ability). When I call him a “fucking wanker” I don’t feel like I am commenting on his fornicating or masturbating habits rather I am simply trying to point out that he is a despicable, hateful, revolting, selfish sibling. Funnily enough I also mean the same thing when I call him a “cocksucking maggot”.
p.s I am fairly certain he means the same thing when he calls me a “fucking cunt”. I don’t believe he means any offence to fornicating vaginas (he’s probably is quite fond of vaginas that fornicate…when they do so with him anyway).

p.p.s I really don’t know how to post here so I am crossing my fingers and hoping I havn’t fornicated the whole thing up.

Do you honestly, based on his posts, consider Stinkpalm to be a homophobe?
I see name-calling directed at someone who clearly doesn’t want to be considered a homophobe, someone who started a seperate thread and promised to quit using a phrase you claim all homosexuals find offensive because he apparently doesn’t want others to consider him a bigot.
I’m sorry for the tone of some of my earlier posts, but it really pisses me off to have people put words in my mouth- which is what you are doing when you claim homosexuals are deeply offended by the phrase “cocksucker”. Maybe as I bisexual I shouldn’t count, but I’ve experienced homophobia- this isn’t it.
Calling someone a bigot is too easy, and it is hard for them to defend themself- especially when you keep changing your definitions re: calling women “cocksuckers”. The fact remains that the original post that started all this shit was referring to a woman and a man.

[sub]You’re right about one thing, though. I do need to get laid.[/sub]

I wonder what are the statistics of insults in general toward men and women. I would bet that men are insulted much more often in The Pit than women.

Either way, though, the statistics you found are pretty meaningless without finding out the stastics of insults in general to compare them to.

I’m not in denial, and I’m not sure how I would find proof about how most of the world feels about the word “cocksucker.” I’m not very smart, but it seems to me that there is no way to gather real hard evidence on this or find some sort of cite. The best I can do is antecdotal evidence. I didn’t even realize that “cocksucker” could be a homosexual insult until you pointed it out in the first thread.

Once again, would you care to identify where I said any such thing? I don’t recall saying it is offensive to any homosexuals, though I have no doubt it is to many. I’m nobody’s press secretary–I speak entirely for myself. I find “cocksucker” mildly offensive for its implicit homophobic content, whether intended as such by the speaker or not. Combine cocksucker with “fuck them up their stupid asses” and you have a post that very clearly displays a p.o.v. that gay sex is bad, offensive, etc., and that it is an appropriate fate for child murderers. That is what I found strongly offensive about Stinkfoot’s OP, and it is something for which he has not apologized in the slightest. This whole debate over generic vs. homophobic use of “cocksucker” is simply one small part of a post that equated homosexuality with child murder, which is definitely not something I’m inclined to let slide.

“implicit homophobic content, whether intended as such by the speaker or not”

Perhaps that homophobic content is merely inferred by the listener?

“cocksucker” = one, usually a man, who sucks cocks.

Gee, how could a listener possibly infer homophobic content from that?

Not to flog a dead horse, but one half of the people stinkpalm called cocksuckers were women.
You don’t get to lynch someone because of what other people did. If I use the word “mangrove throatwarbler” to mean “bad person”, and it is obvious from the context that is what was meant, you don’t get to call me a bigot because you assume other people use the word “mangrove throatwarbler” to mean “lesbian eskimo midget albino”.

Please learn to read for context.

Fucking= a good thing, often used as an insult
Cock sucking= a good thing, often used as an insult
Dick head= yet another good thing, often used as an insult

Fuck wicket= probably a bad thing, you could get splinters. Only used as an insult by Jarbaby.

Not to flog a dead horse, but you’re still ignoring the “fuck them up their asses” part of the post. Put those two parts together, as Stinkthumb did, and that post looks homophobic as all get out. Whether he intended it as such is a legitimate point of disagreement, especially since he hasn’t retracted that second part yet. But the two pieces combined look homophobic enough that I’m not inclined to overlook it.

minty, you blow.

Another non-denial.

If he had called them jerks would you complain that he was equating masturbation with child murder?

To avoid any confusion in the future, should we all have minty proofread all of our posts?

You do realise that calling someone a bad, bad person is sometimes not emphatic enough, that sometimes people curse in anger or in pain when they stub their toe. Should I report myself for calling my Ottoman a cocksucker when I stubbed my toe? For calling the guy who cut me off in traffic an asshole (saying assholes are bad must be denigrating anal sex)?
