I see the insult as a matter of perspective. If someone told me to “fuck me up the ass”, I consider that a bad thing. Not because it == gay, but because I, as a straight person, do not like being fucked up the ass. I would get zero pleasure from it. Same with “cocksucker.” I, as a straight person, would not enjoy sucking a cock.
It’s kind of like if you (insert generic gay male here) werer called a pussylicker. Granted, it’s not a common insult, but the point holds. You find it distasteful, and thus, and insult. It is not derogatory to heterosexuals in any way.
Perspective, and intent. If a Brit asks for a fag, you know by the context that he’s sking for a cigarette, not a gay male. I trust this does not insult you. If that same Brit called you a fag, you would discern that he is being hateful, and not calling you a cigarette. I trust this would insult you. “Fag” has different meanings by context.
Likewise, so does “cocksucker.” When it is used as a derogatory slur, it is a hateful word, and should be treated as such. When it is used synonomously as gay, that’s also bad. When it is being used as a generic curseword, with no subtext, then it is what it is, and I don’t see the offense. In my opinion, it was this last context that Stinkpalm was using. You are of course free to disagree, but calling him a homophobe based on this thread seems out of line.
