When no one wants to start the MMP.

Afternoon all.

Got a call from my mother last night inviting herself (and Dad) to visit me in my new flat in just over a week. Um, let me actually move in first, please!

It’s sunny and warm today. I have no clue what’s going on; it’s a holiday weekend, it should be chucking it down. This does mean I’ve been at the allotment, doing a final tidy round, and have now sold the greenhouse to someone else on site. Picked the last of the tomatoes (half of 'em are still green, but no sense in them going to waste) while I was at it.

I completely forgot that it was a holiday today, so I’ve decided to put off the final part of the move 'til Wednesday, because otherwise I’d have to go to Ikea today (I promised a friend a lift there, as he helped me move). Tomorrow should be less hellish there.

Ain’t moving fun Nut?
Blurf Not doing a whole lot of anything today. Still not feeling 100%, Just got back from the store where I got drinks and Red Bull. That should perk me up a bit.

Beckdawrek – hang in there. You’ll get to where you LIKE the silent house!

Oh, I already feel it in the rapidly-stiffening-up bad knee and my lower back (which already hurt). And did I mention my pride? I have an appointment with the pain docs today anyway, so I’ll mention the fall.

No texting when walking, apparently.

Well, *some *cats. The boy cat – who is not the brightest bulb – ran over and flopped on the floor next to me, like we were playing a game. :smack:

That’s adorable about your cat. Attack cat! I wouldn’t want to take on my girl-cat. I’ve seen her try to eat the vet.

Sometimes here they actually do; at least to the contestants afterwards. Where our friend lost out was The Question. The other guy drew a really good one about mentoring someone interested in the lifestyle and he got something lame about do you need to be kinky. :smack: It was random draw of a sealed envelope so it all came down to luck but those points are what put the winner over the top. That other guy went on to some place of a finish at the Nationals in DC that year.

So are you going to one of the big Nationals now?

[/QUOTE]

Continuing the thought from last week… from here, there’s no “National” level competition - it’s international!

IML, or International Mr. Leather, to be exact. Memorial Day weekend in Chicago. For reasons I can’t quite fathom, there are a few different routes to IML. One of my club brothers won a title sponsored by a local business, and then had to win the Mr. San Francisco Leather title in order to go to IML, where he took First Runner-Up this past May. Perhaps because it’s produced by a non-profit club, my title is a direct route to IML.

If you don’t win IML, they do give you your scores at the end of the weekend. Most guys burn that envelope if they even bother to pick it up. By that point, they already know if they were in the top 20 (out of 63 this year) and there’s no constructive criticism hiding in that envelope and no benefit in finding out you were dead last in the scoring.

There’s a whole 'nuther title track for Drummer North America. Similar but somewhat more about the kink side as opposed to the community service/leadership theme for IML. And there are yet more like American Brotherhood Weekend and Mid-Atlantic Leather.

Since I’m already in the news, you may as well know who I am.

So my little “wrekker” had a great at college. She called all excited and upbeat!!Makes me feel better about it all!YAY!!

Howdy Y’all! OYKW and I went and had a late N.O.L./early dindin at the Mexican place we like and then went to see Miss Becky at the nursin’ home. We didn’t stay long as JDD Sis and another person were there as well. She seems to be takin’ it all as well as one could expect. She did say she knows he’s happier now and is glad I’ll be with her on Wednesday.

Beckdawrek yay for the little wrekker havin’ a good first day at college!

Home after a weird, crazy, busy day. Hamburger Helper for supper because I’m lazy. Rain promised tonight and tomorrow, but so far, it’s looking to be nice on Saturday when I go visit my mom.

Just another day in paradise.

Feel better, grumpy!

Happy Birthday, **Roadrunner **!

Good evening everyone! Today at school was fairly uneventful and that always works for me. I’ve just eaten a mundane dinner and in a little bit I’m going out running. I haven’t run much lately but I need to get back on track because I have a 5K this weekend and a relay race in a couple weeks.

Did it goeth before you fell?

Happy birthday roadrunner!

wabbit, I know my lack of coordination well. That’s why I always carry the pup off the stoop so’s I don’t trip over him and kill myself. I hope that your owies heal soon.

Today sucked as far as Mondays go. My colleague who actually does something was out, leaving me with the old bat who only leaves her desk for a smoke break. Honestly, he and I managed easily for 2 1/2 months when she was out without breaking a sweat since the only things we really had to do were a few extra reports.

I talked to Sis in Houston over the weekend and by text today. She didn’t get any damage, but her street was too flooded to get out for a day and a half. It’s drained for now until Harvey swirls back around.

No trials scheduled Tues or Weds, so I don’t check back about jury duty till Weds night. With the holiday weekend ahead, I’ll be surprised if they have anything Thurs or Fri. Easy jury duty!

Supper was OK, ice cream saved the evening. The dishwasher is finishing up and I’m in afghan mode.

It’s so hard being me sometimes.

It’s raining and I’m waiting for the U.S. Open (tennis) to start. Shania Twain is the opening act. Guess an international tournament is now “an entertainment event.”

Thanks for the birthday wishes everybody and the, what I am assuming, was an excellent rendition of the classic song swampy. I had a pretty good day, this is the first birthday without my father so it was a little bit difficult. He passed away on August 11th so it is still raw. I’ve decided after I finish my current research program to see if I can do work with a medical lab to do something about the diseases that killed him.

beckdawrek, it must feel strange have a kid at college. My oldest just turned 18 but she’s not going to college, she wants to be a professional chef. My youngest is 16 and she wants to be a medical doctor. They grow up so fast!

gotti, very cool!!

Tonight’s run was pretty good. First I ran 2 miles and then I walked to Discount Drug Mart because I was about a block away. I contemplated buying some ice cream but settled for mints and a putrid bottle of protein water that was supposed to be orange flavored. It was, but it also had a hint of either dill or mint. :dubious:

Angry Rabbit I hope you heal up quick.

Gottie very cool!

I’ll have to go and take a look at the Pit. I can tell you that there are definitely some other threads that are whooshes. In the meantime, skritch Ted and the gang for me!
I took Pepper pup to the dog park today. It’s 95 in the shade, and, oddly, there was no one there. She ran around a little bit. Some other dogs finally showed up right before we were leaving. She got in all her sniffing and then we crawled back into the air conditioning.

Other than that it appears that my MiL will be living with us at least half time. Self medication may be in order.

My personal opinion is that the entire Pit is a whoosh.
Worked, came home and had a couple homemade burgers. Moved the computer today from the computer desk to an old vanity so I can start making rook for the roll-top. And I only have three unidentified wires left over! Actually I think they are from my first computer – just fallen and forgotten when I got the Mini.

I think the winner from here was going on to Mid_Atlantic.

And in the small world department, check your PMs possible-cousin-in-law. (o)/

The ad tags that were supposed to show up on Friday, showed up at 3pm today.:smack: Just more work for later in the week.

gotti, congrats!

Beckdawrek, my parents were so happy to have an empty nest, the moved out of state when I turned 18.

So it looks like I am staying in Dallas for the foreseeable future this week. Plenty of strong journalists are already there and our sister station needs help in their home town. We’re also supporting KHOU, another sister station which is a total loss (flooded). Engineers are racing to build a temporary station on Dallas to begin remote broadcasting and we’re helping gather content for all the media group.

That said, here was our first story today:

http://www.wfaa.com/weather/harvey/dallas-shelters-fill-to-capacity-supplies-turned-away-as-generosity-overflows/468682649

Nothing too special, but still part of the story. At least we’re not down there unnecessarily adding to the burden on the Houston area.

I actually did give Ted an extra “skritch” tonight, from you, long before I read this.

Too hot to run them, so I just took them out and let them hunt and roam in the shadow of the mountain. Missed some Classic video tonight! They were doing some weird shit.

Next time.
